Finally decided to get a cat. Our daughter is desperate for a pet, and as giving her a sibling seems ever more unlikely we want to get her some company (and for us as well, we do love cats and are not newbies so it's a considered decision). We're picking up a rescue from a cats and dogs home tomorrow, she seems very affectionate and is only a year old and needs a forever home, which we're very eager to give. Our daughter is five and does not have a clue, so tomorrow after school is going to be very exciting Aww, that's great. Good luck, lots of photos please! cubby Major too. He's most displeased but it's still FAR too hot to take him out.

I will certainly share some photos as soon as she's relaxed and settled.
It wasn't my idea, but I'm actually looking forward to having a cat again, especially in our new house as it has much more room to explore.

Going to have to take Kernow to the park in a couple of hours. He's too well toilet trained. Won't poo in the garden as it's too close to the house so hasn't done one since 6am on Sunday.

Poor boy. They do adapt eventually. My mum's dog was the same but what with lockdown and her decreasing mobility, he soon got the message. It's even easier now we have a dog flap in. I haven't had to scrub dog shit from her carpets in months!

Same issue with my dogs. Just will not go in the garden so have held everything in since about 6am this morning. Taking them out now

Yeah, Maj is dying to go out but he's also huffing and puffing.
I'm going to make him wait another hour.

Nice one. I hope she settles in as well as our rescue cat has. (18 month old rag doll)

Took a spray bottle out with me and kept spraying water on them as we went about. No breeze but cool enough and only a 10 minute walk then put the cooling vests on them as soon as we got home.

This chap is usually terrorising the neighbourhood. Ultimate fighter and fucker Greebo! He's been dubbed Tuxedo, as he's often sitting VERY regally on one of the bins and has a white neck/chest bar a bow tie-esque stripe across that. And then in the blink of an eye he charges a rival/lady over the road, like James Bond sniffing weakness, or underage clunge

Barely seen the moggies in the last couple of days see the pair of them in the morning for their breakfast and see one or other of them for perhaps the odd visit later.

The cat came home today, so far has gone really well. She's in her room (been told to keep her in there for seven days which seems excessive, but we'll do it for as long as we can), she's already eager to explore the rest of the house. We were told that even if they want to explore it can cause them to regress, so don't want to risk that.
It'll also be tough keeping her indoors for the recommended four weeks, especially as our main way of keeping the house cool is to open both sets of bifold doors. Going to be interesting navigating that, but needs must, don't want her getting overconfident and getting lost.
She has the most lovely temperament, is very gentle but keen for a lot of fuss. She was very quick to make friends with my daughter, I already think they're going to be very good buddies. She's also eaten, had a drink and used the litter tray which are all good signs. I'll post some pics tomorrow when I get the chance.

Ahh no, don't let that put you off, most of the time they're very sociable little guys, tonight since I posted one of them's been on the sofa next to me for the last few hours, normally she's upstairs sleeping on the kids bed all night, the other one normally kips in the living room all night, during the day they're normally very chummy and interested and live up to the cat cliche's, just this pesky weather atm.

Yeah, we barely see one of ours in the summer. Fucks off having adventures/goes to his 2nd home. The git. Bowls are empty though, so I know they've been in and out. They come home when hungry.

Our new mog is getting out now we're back from holiday. We felt it was a bit mean to let it out then shut her in for a week while we were away.
She goes out raking about for a bit, then returns to briefly return to base while loudly(very loudly) announcing her return.
She funny.
The furry weirdo.
