Handsome pooch. Is he any less of a pain in the arse now?

So, quick question for cat owners. How annoyed would you be if you walked last a neighbour's house, only to see your cat curled up on their sofa, family all around nice and content? My bastard cat did that last night, my wife hit the roof, marched round and demanded the cat back! I know cats are going to cat, but don't encourage them FFS. Get your own sodding cat.

I mean in summer when they'll just jump in an open window fair enough, but they would've had to go out of their way to let the fucker in which is a bit cheeky.
Yeah, I'd be pissed off too.

I had a neighbours cat come round frequently in my old house. I just told it to piss aafffffffff. Once it was under the sofa for an hour or so without me realising. Proper shat me up.

Yeah, as above. I'd be annoyed (with them, being annoyed with cats is as pointless as trying to catch smoke), because they must have encouraged it.
They probably need to get a cat.

Handsome pooch. Is he any less of a pain in the arse now? It’s improving. He hurt his leg and had a limp for a week, he was mostly sleeping and feeling sorry for himself, which helped a bit. He’s back to his manic best now but I’m finding it slightly more manageable. He’s still a pain in the arse though.

This is how is started - he'd jump in and sit in the sun in their conservatory. Bit annoyed, but OK. Then we found out he had a special cushion. Then last summer we couldn't find him for 3 days and needed to clean a wound and give him meds. Found him there, so had to have words and ask them to kick him out if we wandered in. And now this!

So, you've already had words and they're still sitting around like it's their cat?
Wow...

Hi corkscrew tail is a sight to behold. He found this net earlier so has spent most of the morning trotting round proudly showing it off.

He's definitely growing, but he looks like his got a bit to go yet, too (sorry). Nice net, though. I can see why he's proud.

Big benefit of having indoor cats. K’s had more vet trips than our two cats (7 and 5, had them both from babies) combined. £40pm tops on food and litter for the pair of them.

Maybe they've been treating him/her as their cat all along and had been wondering where the dirty stop-out had been going every night?

It probably seems harmless to their POV, but honestly, if they want a pet they need to get one of their own.

Sorry Dougs, but that made me smile. Hopefully you got him back eventually. He trotted out as soon as they opened the door, happy as Larry. Can't find him now though and it's rare for him to be out in the rain...might take a wander past at lunchtime!

Take in one of their children as one of your own. And act surprised when they're pissed off with you. Keep it in your conservatory on a special pillow.

When I was a kid we had a neighbour at the end of the street that would do that with one of our cats, and eventually she stuck a collar on it and claimed it as her own. We couldn't keep the cat indoors and let the other one out, and eventually she just stopped coming home, choosing to go to the old lady who would constantly dote on her and feed her treats instead.
You definitely need to have an understanding with the neighbour to kick the cat out and not pander to it, but if they decide not to then you're pretty much fucked.

Cats are notorious for choosing their owners. My friend basically inherited a cat that way as he kept visiting them. In this case it was the owner who didn't give a shit and they ended up taking the cat to the vets to get his eyes treated.
I'd be livid though in your situation. Maybe tell the neighbours he's on a special diet from the vet or some other lie to get them to stop feeding him?

Growing up, our neighbor would do that with our cat. Started with him picking her up and giving her pats, led to him getting her a water bowl, collar and letting her into their house. As a young kid, I personally didn't mind as I just looked it at as her getting more love, but my mom and sister would get in arguments with the neighbor over it constantly. Today I'd probably get upset, yeah.

You've got to be a special kind of self serving arsehole to put a collar on someone else's pet

I did read a story on Twitter the other day about someone who was parked in a supermarket and someone got out of the car next to them with her cat in a cat basket being taken to the vets! As I say, cats are gonna cat, but don't encourage him FFS. They looked surprised last year when we said he needed treatment for the wound on his leg "oh yeah, we noticed that". As AA says, get yer own!

I'd be having quite stern words with them, that's taking the piss. How did you stay calm at the "Oh yeah we noticed that" bit?
