We switched away from raw because our dog seemed to be getting frequent stomach upsets. Those got much less frequent and her general health didn't change at all.

For Aunt AlisonIt's never too hot or too close to the fire for Bunky... Meanwhile, I think it might be time for my appraisal...

Both of these mogs would get some serious scratching.
Bunky looks pretty cosy next to that fire!

Both of these mogs would get some serious scratching. Bunky looks pretty cosy next to that fire! They would enjoy that, they're both attention sponges. She's adopted that spot. AJ prefers a little fort of pillows on the sofa, but Bunky wants to be as close to the fire as possible. 😂

Our last cat would have climbed into the radiator if she could have.
All of them like a nice warm spot! 😀

They crack me up how they rotate around their favourite spots. All rooms get a go, and then they ignore them for weeks at a time.

K’s on raw, though it’s all human grade (chicken wings and turkey mince from the meat section of the supermarket). He’d been eating raw with the breeder so we just kept the same plan, not particularly wedded to the concept so if it becomes a problem I’d go kibble rather than trying to argue its virtues.

Ours don’t really go near the fire, but are both very pro the radiator beds we have dotted around.

We bought of those in lockdown. One of the fuckers refused to go near it (the one who especially likes to be warm), the other one used it for a couple of days and then sneered at it. We gave them away to some other mad cat people. £30 wasted.

Ours go through phases, as with most things. They’ll use it every day for a week then ignore it for months, then rediscover it. Usage doesn’t seem connected to weather, or whether the heating’s actually on.
Basically cats are weird.

How did the one to one go, zom?

How did the one to one go, zom? Ok thanks. We’ve got him a clicker which helps a bit. It’s still way too much though. Felt positive straight after but it goes downhill fast. Tried taking him onto the drive with collar and lead earlier to just stand there and work on his focus. After six minutes of listening to the awful choking sound of him trying to hang himself bunny hopping away I brought him back in. He seems smart when we’re inside and he’s not in one of his moods, knows how to do down and bed and off when we wants to. Yet it’s been over two months of daily “if you pull we’re not moving, if you look at me and keep the lead loose you get treats and we keep going”, but as soon as he gets excited or distracted all training and logic goes out of the window and once he loses attention it seems impossible to get back. Actually a bit worried I’ll never love him on current progress. By the time he stops being an unmanageable puppy I’ll have built up so much resentful hate it’ll be hard to let it all go.

Yeah a clicker is good for shaping the behaviour you want to encourage as it's so precise, a doggo like Kernow needs to know the exact thing he's being rewarded for, even if 2 seconds before he was doing the exact opposite.
But as dogbot said, a harness with 2 loops one at the front and a double ended lead will really help with pulling. My trainer friend recommends the Perfect Fit ones. With a collar, somehow, he's learnt that pulling benefits him, so it's time to use something else and start afresh.
In your other post you mentioned he's hyper for 10 hours a day. I wonder if he's overtired? At 4 months he should be getting around 18 hours of sleep. Dudley's really prone to getting overtired easily and he can be a proper handful in that state so we're trying to get him to sleep more and he's been a bit more manageable.

He sleeps through the night, and has done since a couple of weeks since we got him. Other than that, he’ll have maybe a two hour nap and two one hour ones at various points in the day. You got any tips for getting him to do more naps? All the books say to never use the crate as punishment, and if he’s awake he’s probably doing something he shouldn’t be so I’m reluctant to put him in there when he’s awake.

There's a difference between putting him in the crate because he's "been naughty" and putting him in there for some time out. I'm not saying I've got this down either, but we try and encourage him to be in there during the day, especially if he's zooming around a lot or biting. We put lots of treats and a kong with some paste in for him to focus on to get him to like being in there.

Making it something that is attractive for him should help to encourage him to go there.

After what feels like forever we're now able to take Dudley out for walks! Early days but he's already pretty good on the lead, nice and loose and he likes to stick close to us. He's been pretty timid around meeting other dogs (and round where we are so many are off lead which can be an issue) but as we've been progressing he's starting to get more confident. Loud barky dogs still startle him though.

Things get so much easier when you can start walking them. But also the moment you realise most other dog owners are cunts.

Yeah he pulls that face all the time! You'll wonder where he is as he's gone quiet for a few minutes and turn to see him sat at the other end of the room looking at you with that same exact expression. He'll sometimes sit like that for ages. He's a strange one.
