Was looking forward to Boltgun but its not brilliant, too much find colour key and the map design can be really crap. it feels like they took all the wrong lessons from pixel retro shooters, they thought well in this old fps it had these naff maps and this retro shooter so this should have
/contempt 100
when you kill chaos scum its good but glad I didn't buy it

I mean, that is how old FPSs were designed. But an example of FPS that plays new but looks old would be Prodeus.

Doom did find key and the maps were so much better (so did Quake although thats not pixel shooter)
Its bit like this very retro surivial horror game I played called Alissa, its very ps1 game but they took all the bad things of the SH genre
Prodeus did the retro shooter so much better

The maps in Boltgun aren't much to write home about, but the shooting is absolutely ace. It carried me through a whole three runs, including on the highest difficulty level.
I have Prodeus too, so I'll really need to try that eventually. Also, Turbo Overkill. And then Sprawl. Even after finishing Boltgun, Dusk and HROT, there's lots of meat on the fire yet.
I also got Chop Goblins and thinking of getting Zortch, which looks very Quake 2. This is very much my boomer shooter phase.

Also played a bit of bolt gun, it feels good to play and certainly is fun. Pretty easy so far in medium, and not sure how long it'll hold my attention.
I am finding myself wanting to play it as I write this which has to be a good sign!

Hoping the jedi survivor is added soon, I own fallen order and tbh the map design is shit the combat is good (another game with good combat and shit map design!)
Is Diablo 4 any good? played 3 ages ago on 360 and liked it at the start and got bored near the end

D4 was an enjoyable romp through the story, but endgame ended up feeling a bit lacking. Definitely worth a blast through the campaign.

Just realised mine runs out in 2 days!
Hunting for deals now as my Series X is more or less useless without it - think the only game I've actually bought on it is Elden Ring.
Sounds like the current way is 3 years of Gold (or Core if they're interchangeable) and then upgrade it, which gets 2 years of Ultimate where it used to be 3?

Yeah, couldn't resist nabbing it. It's been on my "play it when it drops on GP" list, but can't really argue with owning it for less than a tenner.

It’s actually a surprisingly decent game imo that EA just appeared to forget about. Well worth it for a few pence.

I had that yesterday. Was going to get it this morning, but it’s back up to normal price for me, so I’ve missed it. Oh well. Never really seemed interesting to me, but watching some video reviews while I mulled it over, I was surprised by how well it was received. Gamespot seemed to be the outlier with their 5/10 review. Everything else was 7s and 8s.

also as an aside, I really like these “just for you” sales Microsoft has frequently. You get a lot of newish games for extremely low prices.

I may be a cynical old git but my first reaction was “I probably shouldn’t wish list games now that they’re doing personal deals, they know I’ll pay more for it eventually”

They’re getting your info anyway, no matter what. Microsoft is up there with Google and Facebook as the most invasive tech companies. If I can’t avoid it either way, I’d rather at least get some benefits from it.

I do get Madden and Fifa regularly, but in general it’s things I wanted, like AssCreed or Dead Space. This Aveum game is one I wasn’t particularly interested in prior, but something I wouldn’t have minded trying at a low price. Oh well, it’ll be on EA Play soon enough.

I bought the Ultimate Edition or whatever; and that didn’t technically include this, so I’m happy GamePass is giving it away.

Not sure what I was expecting from something called "battle panties", but I'm glad my missus didn't walk in while I was checking it out. I'm sure these will be tasteful.

The new outfits are nothing like, some sort of bellhop outfits?

Finished Sea of Stars on Sunday night. A fantastic game, well worth the 28hours of investment. Enjoyed it so much I kept going as there is a few "post game" side quests and things to do and apparently a true ending if you do it all. The combat is really satisfying imo and they manage the power ramp really well. You feel more powerful even while they throw increasingly more powerful enemies at you. System mastery becomes such that the fights are easier because your in fight management is better but the enemies are definitely tougher and if you mistime your dodge you might be KO'd with one hit. I've beaten a load of what are effectively legendary enemies now and I think I've enjoyed each encounter without exception. The only bummer is the final side quest I need to complete for the true ending is a collectathon I'm not sure that I will see that through as it is the least interesting content in the game. Overall though a really excellent game and one I'd recommend without any reservation.

I did that collection quest and saw it through and the pay off here is worth it 1000% This might be my favourite ever reward for doing so much post game stuff. Brilliant

Took down the first boss (opening section) in No More Heroes 3 and its pretty good. The Suda 51 nuttiness is welcome break from the sniffing their own farts in Control. I did give up on the first game when I played it on the wii all those years ago
