Played the sable demo back then and didn't finish it as got bored, also hated the low quality running animation, it look weird AF.

I’m loving Sable. It’s very chill. It’s like playing a french graphic novel. The demo was just getting your bike together and the rest of the map suggests it might last a while. It’s got some issues but just relax and go with it and it’s great.

My subs, Xbox Gold and Xbox GamePass are running out early October and I was wondering (if anyone knows) what's the best way to move forward: get a 12-month Gold code and a couple of 6-month GamePass codes to sort me for the next year or do the GamePass codes (not Ultimate) cover Gold as well? Also, if I sort out either Gold or GamePass and then turn it to Ultimate, does that still convert the existing subs to my advantage?

I've just been topping up a few months here and there every time a decent offer comes up on HUKD or whatever and mine is good until May 2024. Sure it's not as cheap as it once was, but it's still phenomenal value if you just find a couple of games to play a year.

Standard GamePass doesn't cover Gold, only Ultimate does.

All the conversion tricks still work, it's only a matter of whether the £1 deal pops again or not.

Even if it doesn't, a 12 month (or 24 or 36) Gold subscription will convert to Ultimate if you buy any amount of Ultimate time, be it 7 days or 1 month.

Until Microsoft pull the conversion method, the easiest route forward for most people with a current GamePass subscription is:

1. Let your current GamePass or Gamepass Ultimate Subscription lapse.

2. Redeem/Stack Gold subscription codes up to a maximum of 36 months.

3. Redeem a 7 day or 1 month Ultimate code to convert all of your Gold time to Ultimate. Alternatively use the £1 Ultimate offer on the dashboard or website IF it shows for you again.

For example a 12 month Gold and 1 month Ultimate code will cost you £47.98 from CDKeys currently, getting you a year's worth of Ultimate for £3.99 a month essentially.

Unless you can get normal GamePass for less than £4 a month or just want to buy the odd month here and there, surely converting to Ultimate with the above methods is quite a bit cheaper no?

I was trying to figure the maths out a couple of months back, and came to the conclusion that it's cheaper to stack 6-month codes, instead of the 12-month code, as apparently you get a free month from MS every time you put in a code and then sign up for recurring billing (which you can then turn off). So theoretically 5x6 month codes will give you 35 months in total, plus the month from Ultimate when you convert it all. Currently a 6-month code is £20 from CDKeys - so you could get 3 years for £101 (with the £1 Ultimate offer).

I can't confirm if the above will work as I haven't tried it (will do so when I signed up to Gamepass again), but it might be worth looking into for those that want 3 years for the cheapest possible price.

I have a slightly convoluted method, but it works for me, where I pay £10.99 every month and it just renews for me.

I could understand if you were just paying a quid or two more, but you are paying way over the odds.

I paid the equivalent of £3.08 a month and am sorted until 2024 now.

I'd always try to get it cheaper, but even at full price it is the price of two games. i have far more than had my money's worth each year.

If you're redeeming a code you don't need to provide billing details, so you should be good to go.

You could potentially get round the £1 thing by redeeming some credit to your account to use, but otherwise it needs a payment method to bill the £1 to obviously.

Thanks for the clear advice. Wish I'd stacked my account with 36 months Gold before taking my introductory £1 Ultimate offer now, but I didn't understand all this converting Gold to GP Ultimate business, until now.

In your example, is there any reason you wouldn't just buy a 7 day Ultimate code, as opposed to a month, if any amount of Ultimate converts your Gold to a GP Ultimate subscription?

Am I only person who just pays the subscription, but with the odd free month courtesy of redeemed points? :-)

The only remaining wondering I have is what happens if you have an active GP Ultimate subscription and you add, say, 12 month Gold to your account? Given Ultimate seems to include everything Gold offers, I assume you get nothing...?

I'm extremely tempted to buy 36 months Gold for ~£120 right now (+ 7 day Ultimate, or whatever), but my Ultimate sub doesn't run out till next month, and knowing my luck Microsoft will withdraw the option to upgrade from Gold to Ultimate in the meantime.

There does appear to be a 'Cancel Subscription' option in the Xbox settings (which cancels Ultimate there and then, apparently) but it's greyed out for me because I turned off recurring billing.
