My game pass ultimate sub was running out so checked out an EA Play code before it did and offered 2 months as they changed it, didn't confirm and left it until my sub was gone. Today registered as it as an EA sub alone and added a 7 day game pass ultimate I bought as no promotion on the dash, got 4 months and 1 week in the transfer for £19, seems alright.

Played the sable demo back then and didn't finish it as got bored, also hated the low quality running animation, it look weird AF.
TA review sounds like the demo is the whole game. Shill up did a video review and liked it

The demo was just getting your bike together and the rest of the map suggests it might last a while. It’s got some issues but just relax and go with it and it’s great.

Yeah, I'm going to get stuck into this - pity my demo progress didn't carry over as it is quite a long repeat. Shame the opening area is a glitchy as fuck as it creates a bad impression -though I expect later busier/more complex geometry areas will suffer too.

My subs, Xbox Gold and Xbox GamePass are running out early October and I was wondering (if anyone knows) what's the best way to move forward: get a 12-month Gold code and a couple of 6-month GamePass codes to sort me for the next year or do the GamePass codes (not Ultimate) cover Gold as well? Also, if I sort out either Gold or GamePass and then turn it to Ultimate, does that still convert the existing subs to my advantage?

Microsoft's long term plan playing out now. Seems lots of people (including myself) who cashed in with Gamepass ultimate offers a couple of years ago are now coming to an end of our subs without a similarly crazy value offer to jump on.
My ultimate runs out in January and I'll be in the same boat. Hoping that by letting it lapse for a few weeks you're able to do the convert gold>ultimate trick for a quid again.

I've just been topping up a few months here and there every time a decent offer comes up on HUKD or whatever and mine is good until May 2024. Sure it's not as cheap as it once was, but it's still phenomenal value if you just find a couple of games to play a year.

I absolutely think it's worth the full price but after 3 years of basically paying half price I really don't want to..!

Also, if I sort out either Gold or GamePass and then turn it to Ultimate, does that still convert the existing subs to my advantage? Standard GamePass doesn't cover Gold, only Ultimate does. All the conversion tricks still work, it's only a matter of whether the £1 deal pops again or not. Even if it doesn't, a 12 month (or 24 or 36) Gold subscription will convert to Ultimate if you buy any amount of Ultimate time, be it 7 days or 1 month. Until Microsoft pull the conversion method, the easiest route forward for most people with a current GamePass subscription is: 1. Let your current GamePass or Gamepass Ultimate Subscription lapse. 2. Redeem/Stack Gold subscription codes up to a maximum of 36 months. 3. Redeem a 7 day or 1 month Ultimate code to convert all of your Gold time to Ultimate. Alternatively use the £1 Ultimate offer on the dashboard or website IF it shows for you again. For example a 12 month Gold and 1 month Ultimate code will cost you £47.98 from CDKeys currently, getting you a year's worth of Ultimate for £3.99 a month essentially.

I will only get ultimate if there is £1 upgrade deal, used xcloud sometimes. Mine runs out in early December, so might just get normal gamepass

When mine eventually runs out, I’d imagine it’ll become like Disney+ to me. Generally don’t bother, but sub for a couple of months when there’s critical mass of things on there that I’m interested in.

I was trying to figure the maths out a couple of months back, and came to the conclusion that it's cheaper to stack 6-month codes, instead of the 12-month code, as apparently you get a free month from MS every time you put in a code and then sign up for recurring billing (which you can then turn off). So theoretically 5x6 month codes will give you 35 months in total, plus the month from Ultimate when you convert it all. Currently a 6-month code is £20 from CDKeys - so you could get 3 years for £101 (with the £1 Ultimate offer).
I can't confirm if the above will work as I haven't tried it (will do so when I signed up to Gamepass again), but it might be worth looking into for those that want 3 years for the cheapest possible price.

Yeah, not sure if the recurring billing extra month will show up 5 consecutive times if redeeming that lot, never tried myself but a good trick if it works.
If anyone wants to go the whole hog you can even redeem foreign Gold codes with a VPN and get 3 years of Ultimate for less than £75. That's what I did a while back.

I have a slightly convoluted method, but it works for me, where I pay £10.99 every month and it just renews for me.

Nah, you can't fully enjoy Gamepass without trying to get it for the cheapest possible price imo.

It’s really not a lot of cash though, folks. It’s a tenner a month. When my bargain few years run out I doubt I’ll “play the game” again.

I'd always try to get it cheaper, but even at full price it is the price of two games. i have far more than had my money's worth each year.

Thank you very much for the detailed response!
Do you happen to know if MS will ask for a monthly payment scheme (credit card or paypal) if I add a 3-month Ultimate card on top of an existing Gold sub? My MS account is a UK one, because back then when I signed up it wasn't offered in my local market and, so far, I haven't changed that and I'm using only codes to top my subs and wallet. A year ago when I tried to convert to Ultimate using the £1 Ultimate offer, MS wanted billing info which I hesitated to provide given I do not live in the UK...

If you're redeeming a code you don't need to provide billing details, so you should be good to go. You could potentially get round the £1 thing by redeeming some credit to your account to use, but otherwise it needs a payment method to bill the £1 to obviously.

Wish I'd stacked my account with 36 months Gold before taking my introductory £1 Ultimate offer now, but I didn't understand all this converting Gold to GP Ultimate business, until now. In your example, is there any reason you wouldn't just buy a 7 day Ultimate code, as opposed to a month, if any amount of Ultimate converts your Gold to a GP Ultimate subscription?

Use the 7 day one if you can, entirely depends on what you can lay your hands on at the time. 7 day codes don't seem to be as common mind, but you can get them from places like Eneba easy enough.

Am I only person who just pays the subscription, but with the odd free month courtesy of redeemed points? :-)

Okay awesome, thanks for the confirmation. The only remaining wondering I have is what happens if you have an active GP Ultimate subscription and you add, say, 12 month Gold to your account? Given Ultimate seems to include everything Gold offers, I assume you get nothing...? I'm extremely tempted to buy 36 months Gold for ~£120 right now (+ 7 day Ultimate, or whatever), but my Ultimate sub doesn't run out till next month, and knowing my luck Microsoft will withdraw the option to upgrade from Gold to Ultimate in the meantime. There does appear to be a 'Cancel Subscription' option in the Xbox settings (which cancels Ultimate there and then, apparently) but it's greyed out for me because I turned off recurring billing.

I just wait til Amazon does half price on 3 month codes and then stack up then. Might not be the absolute cheapest way to do it, but it's certainly the easiest. Just need to hope they do it again before August 2022...

darkling I'm pretty certain that if you redeem a gold code before your current subs expires it will convert into 4 months Ultimate.
