People licking their forefingers while handling paper.
This was gross behaviour before COVID, but I'd really hoped that the pandemic would kill it off once and for all. Nope! Turns out that for some, old habits die hard.
If you can't turn a page in a book or magazine, or flick through a bunch of receipts, or [whatever] without moistening your fingertips first, get one of those little sponge things to sit on your desk. Don't stick your fingers in your mouth before handling papers that someone else will be handling before your saliva has had a chance to dry!

Ha! I'd never noticed that.
My little diatribe was prompted by a visit to the post office this morning, during which I watched the lady behind the counter lick her finger five or six times while she served the two people in front of me. (It wasn't as sexy as it sounds.)

The way John Torrode describes something should be bouncy with his hands.

Wet wipes that just clump together.
Doesn't matter what sort. Surface cleaning wipes, face cleaning wipes, baby wipes etc. They all have that hole to pull wipes through and the first few are fine, can pull a single wipe out.
But inevitably there will be a time where instead of a single wipe a whole clump of them come through together. Can either try to shove the unneeded wipes back in, which makes them awkward to retrieve next time, or have to just use 5x as many wipes as needed.
It's literally hell on earth.

When did the letter x replace the &, the +, or the words "with" or "featuring" in collaborative projects

I assumed it was a Japanese thing, with “cross” being short for crossover?

Garages insisting on calling vehicle sides "nearside" & "offside" - directions relative to the surrounding infrastructure rather than to the actual car. "Nearside" flips the moment you cross the channel; you don't start calling the back of the car "the front" when you stick it in reverse.
"Passenger side" & "driver side" is no better as when faced with a left hand drive vehicle in the UK you can't be sure if they're referring to actual driver side or the typical driver side.
We already have perfectly good descriptors for the left & right sides of a vehicle: "left" & "right". The left indicator remains the left indicator regardless of which side of the road you're driving or where the steering wheel is. The front right tyre is always going to be on the front right.
This is a stupid foible which annoys me and should. I'm prepared to upgrade this to random rant

Just watched a YouTube video and when the guy said "Hit the like button", the like button beneath the video did a multi-coloured animated light-up. I don't know whether that's a new thing you can set to a timer when you upload videos now, or whether it's some kind of auto-widget thing, but...
No, thank you.

People who call cushions pillows. They're cushions on your sofa. Pillows belong on your bed.

Is that a thing? I feel like I've never encountered that. At worst,at the absolute worst, someone might have called something lining the edge one of those fancier sofas in the 90s a 'long pillow'

Pretty sure there were cushions on my bed at some point for decorative purposes when I had a fancy girlfriend and the bed had to be made in case the Queen was visiting at 7.02am

Basically, cushions are square, pillows are anything else but ideally rectangular

Yes. I stumbled across a Faceache post that did it. It shouldn't bother me, but it does.
You are allowed to call those on the bed cushions (assuming you mean the decorative ones that my wife has a billion of), because they are cushions.
