This isn’t good. Or surprising. When the Golden Foot award is taken too literally 💲💲

I was already wanting Qatar to be spanked by everyone in their group but this makes that desire even stronger.
Fuck Qatar, fuck FIFA and fuck Infantino being unopposed in retaining his leadership of that shit show.

Mané ruled out of the tournament now too, so Group A is certainly up for grab$...

Apparently the Qatar bribe comes from a known source of disinformation. Take with a pinch of salt. Not hard to assume it could be true tho!

Seems the journalist reporting it should be taken with a pinch of salt

Even more believable than the Qatari story, if that's possible.

Is there much hype for the world cup in other places at the moment? I've never seen such a muted reaction to one over here.

I'm going to watch the WC with the same excitement I watch a car race: with giddy expectation of a crash.
While I'm supporting most criticism in its core I find it highly irritating how europe suddenly remembers morals. I live in Switzerland. Where's FIFA located? Where do Blatter and Infantino come from? Where do the national football federations store their money? Looks to me we're a bunch of hypocrites.
All this is not taking into account that a lot of the criticism is being directed or even paid for by the Saudis, an opponent of the Qatari in the region and arguably the even bigger parade of cunts.
Some say progress has been made in Qatar and we don't know if it would have happened without the public awareness of what's happening there. Difficult to say whether that's true or not.
Fact is football has been a vicious business for a long time now and it's getting worse. Look at the premier league. Singling out and pointing the finger at one event makes some of the critics look borderline oblivious.

Confirmed, 48 hours to go and stadium sales are banned. FIFA is having a beer hangover without touching a drop.

Didn't FIFA or UEFA enforce the sale of alcohol in stadiums during a big tournament a couple of years ago because Heineken was a major sponsor?

FIFA flipped their lids and got south african police to arrest a load of dutch women who flashmobbed a game to promote heineken because Bud were the exclusive beer sponsor. Thats how seriously they take/took it.

Bit odd; Qatar is not a dry country, unlike say, Saudi Arabia. There are licensed places that can sell alcohol, so I wonder why they're suddenly deciding not to in the stadia? Perhaps it's because it's so public.
Or maybe they're worried about thousands of drunken, gay football fans corrupting their pure youth.

They may not be literally a dry country and alcohol is still haram for 99% of the population. They obviously dont want images of westerners getting pissed up and having a good time to spread like a mind virus.

Imagine being on the plane or just getting off to find out there's a beer ban. Could kick off more than having a bunch of pissed up fans there.

I dinstinctively remember some french or belgian (the accent adding to the arrogance) official saying something along the lines of "I'm sorry to say that this is non-negotiable. There will be beer in the stadiums." The country had a no alcohol in stadiums law.

They obviously dont want images of westerners getting pissed up and having a good time to spread like a mind virus. Experience is that many of them are drinking at home, though. They may not advertise it, but they're doing it. Wine was very popular indeed and there were plenty of chats about what was good with the Qataris. Even in Saudi, there are expat bars and shops selling equipment to locals and expats alike for making wine. Just don't drink the fig beer. Understanable that they don't want the publicity, but it seems odd on that basis that they agreed to any relaxation of the rules in the first place (which they did). Having a change of heart now is a bit shit.

Once the world cup is there, the government can pretty much do what it likes, I suppose. Whats FIFA going to do? Stop the WC because they have gone back on a promise to allow beer?

The Qataris however should be delighted with Baddiel and Skinner. 'It's fine, look those nice boys even made a nice song.'

That's the one, thank you! And Jerome Valcke was the arrogant cunt. Budweiser instead of Heineken though. Not that it matters.

That Three Lions song has an unbelievable Pavlovian effect on me. Hairs on end and shivers down my spine every time.
