I've re-installed 3 on my ps3 ready and waiting! I can't seem to find 2 anywhere though.
Also, for those that have finished it - found any more suits yet? I've only found one. I'm on chapter 7.
Spent a while backtracking last night to mop up some stuff now I've got security 3 access, and also picked up a few side quest rigs.
Getting there. Still loving it.

Suits:
The last suit upgrade I had in play one cost me 60,000. Level 5. A new level 6 suit becomes available to buy in new game plus, which is 100,000.

Ouch!
Ok, so is there just the one that you keep upgrading? I just seem to remember there being quite a few different ones in the original. Or am I imagining things again?

Unless you bought the Deluxe edition, yes there is just the one you upgrade. Well actually my store also had a retro DS1 suit in there which you "equip" or "unequip". I didn't go much on it though.
Would very much like a DS2 remake. Arguably, I think that is the better game, just love that one. More enemy, weapon, and environment variety in that one by far. Maybe it lost some of the horror aspect, but could still be creepy in places (hello again Ishimura!)

The nursery in 2 was creepy as well. Apart from that it leaned too much into full blown action set piece territory for my liking, but it is still awesome.

I'll have to get it. The psn store crashed when I tried to get it for ps3. I'll try again

Yeah, I know that there are baby necromorphs in the original but the sequels were more fucked up as they were actually born kids turned into necros as opposed to being grown in a lab. Made it all the more disturbing.

I've just finished the game and as I previously mentioned it really is a fantastic remake! The sound was so immersive, I had to take regular breaks just to calm my nerves as the intensity almost never lets up. The graphics and especially how the light was used throughout the whole experience was superbly done as well.
I've even liked what they've done with the weapons, improving those that were so weak in the original game (Hello Force Gun) and making all of them viable though I had a clear preference for the Contact Beam as well as the Line Gun's ridiculously OP secondary fire mode once fully upgraded.
I really hope they remake Dead Space 2 next!

Ah man this is great. Just got to chapter 4. Got serious upgrade paralysis though, 4 weapons in. What's good to upgrade (other than the suit)?

I just save the upgrades for when you need ammo and path towards clip upgrades, as you get a full clip when you upgrade them.

All of the weapons are good now but you can't go wrong with the plasma cutter and the ripper.

I went through my whole playthrough and never thought to try line gun’s alt fire even once. Then right at the end, on the planet, I accidentally fired it at the big necromorph in one of the final fights and I had to run away from it, because now it had a big laser beam sticking out of it.
Probably if you could pause the game to change weapons I would have used each of them more (eg as they run out of ammo) but the fact it’s hard to swap the weapons around (and the interface is really messy I think, it’s confusing) I barely moved on from my Plasma Cutter / Ripper / Pulse Rifle / Flamer set up.

Finished new game plus. I am not sure the new ending was really worth it, it certainly could of waited.
Great game though. Likely going to be up there on my game of the year list.

Secondary fire on Line gun is the best gun in the game. At least once you have upgraded it and you have 3 laser beams coming off it. Nothing can touch you when you shoot the lasers on the floor in front of you.
You can literally create a room full of lasers and pretend you are Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible.

Can you take damage from it yourself?
Also, can’t believe I didn’t think to just fire it at the floor. I used it in NewGame+ during the bridge fight with Big Thing and was madly trying to stick it the the elevator walls while I ran around it Benny Hill style.

Yes you can take damage from it. Yet from the very few times I have had to run through it myself (evasive maneuvers required), the damage hasn't been that much. What is great about the alt fire is that the beam is persistent until something breaks it, after which it still takes about 30 seconds before it burns out. If nothing breaks the beam, you can deactivate it and pick up the ammo again. It means you dont have to worry about wasting ammo firing it all around the room. This video is especially good for showing off how good it is. Its immensely overpowered. Everyone should watch this. www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6DJ6aJLvEs

Chapter 5 can get fucked. I forgot this is genuinely quite scary. Just quite though. Definitely not taking stress breaks. Nope.

Just jettisoned that big bastard out into space. I've forgotten almost everything about this so it's like playing it new. It's really good.

I’m odd with this, because I remember things like specific, nondescript *corridors* like, “ah yes, this corridor shaped like this” from the original, and a lot of the rooms of course, but I don’t remember anything about the leviathan.
I thought the way they changed the meteor sequence was shit, not slightly challenging, but I suspect it was a tutorial for the way it was used again later in the game, which clearly couldn’t have been in the original (despite my total lack of memory of that first or second leviathan fight)

That bit needed threat that the new version just didn't have. I honestly think the old version was better.

See, that meteor section I do remember and I remember it was awful. So glad when I realised they'd binned it, although admittedly the alternative felt pointless.
