Resource bots, micro-transactions, cover shooting, human enemies, universal ammo and more.
I maintain - and damn it while I'm standing on this soap box I'll keep going on until someone shoots my legs off with a line gun they have too much ammo for - that about 85% of the game is still cutting through swathes of necromorphs in very dead spacey locales. Even outside on the planet, the weather makes it really hard to see until they are on top of you. There are misteps, sure, but there's an awful lot of good there.

I'll have to give it another go. Might as well, while I'm on the necromorph train. I do really like killing them.

The best part was that cover shooting was such a half assed implementation that it involved pressing the right stick to crouch and that was how they did cover shooting.

It's quite interesting looking back over reviews of it. I always thought it got utterly mauled, but it reviewed quite well.
Dead Space is a bit like the FEAR games for me. First one is excellent, second one is more bombastic but suffers as a result, third one makes many departures and is quite divisive but isn't actually all that bad.

For me they are more like Mass Effect.
1st one a little janky but has excellent story and atmosphere. 2nd one improves on almost every way. 3rd one not quite as good but still decent by todays standards.
DS3 is a very decent game, it just takes a slight departure from the others by setting a lot of it on an ice planet. There are some truly spectacular moments though.

So I had intended reading all logs and lore, much as I intend on doing with every game I start, you know just to soak up the atmosphere and I have just reached chapter 6 and read about 2 of the 50 odd I have found! Is it just me ? why the feck can I not be arsed to read a couple of minutes of text in a game.
Anyway back to the game, still ace, it absolutely has to be played with a headset though. I played chapter 5 just using tv speakers, you miss so much.

It depends what game and how much the logs enrich the experience. In this remake I have found them worth reading as it gives you a bigger picture overall on exactly what went down on the Ishimura.
Horizon zero dawn i also found them essential as well to find out what happened to the old world for example. Some games though I will skip if they are boring and non essential. Hi-fi rush for example. Great game, but the logs are fairly tedious to me.

Audio logs that you can listen to while in the game are fine, but screw any game that makes you sit in a menu and listen to them. They swiftly get ignored then.

Ah, that explains all the smoke in my playthrough. Because your Isaac is having a fag break again.

When you upgrade its secondary mode so you have 3x beams, you can lay a protective wall in front of you which is the most overpowered strategy in the game. Lay a few of them down in front of you and nothing can touch you.
OR.....stick one on the side of a moveable object, then pick up that object with telekinesis and point it at whatever you want to destroy. Not sure if it was meant to be used like this, but its a lot of fun.

Hah, cheers, that does sound ace.
I do quite like these secondary weapon functions. I picked up the plasma cutter one last night. Need to have a go at that. But yeah, now I just need about 3 million nodes to do the cutter, line gun, and finish up on the suit

I have see a fair few YouTube videos absolutely break the game by using the secondary function of the line gun as you mention by putting it on things and using the TK.

Am I imagining it but did DS2 have a multiplayer mode where you could play as a random necromorph to invade a single player game and fuck with people?
Edit: it had a multiplayer but not this mode, they should have it in the inevitable next game. I'd love to troll the fuck out of you guys.

I was gonna wait a bit before I started my new game plus playthrough, but I saw the update hit xbox yesterday and I'm itching to get back in.
Also going to mainly use the weapons I neglected on my first playthrough.
Here we go again!......

I've just reached Chapter 6, looking forward to exploring Hydroponics tomorrow. I'm really enjoying the Contact Beam in this remake, though it uses up ammo very quickly.
I'm also liking the new side missions in this remake as they expand on the story and lore of Dead Space and I'm very much here for that.

Yeah the side missions are good. There aren't actually that many and you naturally complete them as you progress, so they are never a chore. I was worried when I first heard about them, so I am pleased they actually add to the game rather than detract.

For anyone having ammo troubles, it’s worth noting that when you put a node into ammo capacity you get a full clip, like in RE4.
You also get a node when you buy an upgrade and take it to a bench. Much better than buying just a node on its own!

Shit, I keep forgetting the side missions. I put them off for a bit because the top one was the mining deck which I couldn't get to, but I'd better check which areas are accessible now

Making him speak was absolutely the right thing to do and really improves the narrative.

Making him speak was absolutely the right thing to do and really improves the narrative. The game does seem to gel better later on. At first Isaac talking was very awkward for me. And seeing his face, which is a pretty awkward x looking face I thought. Gordon Freeman works as an unlikely action star, but this guy looks like an extra on The Office. Should have given him a Staple Gun.

This is brilliant. When I'm backtracking, I'm shitting myself because of necros, but when there's a quiet passage and all you can hear is your footsteps, and then some creepy ethereal voice whispers "Isaac" you just can't help but shit your pants. Amazing.
