I actually didn't realise until chapter 10 that you could rotate yourself in zero G (I know, crazy right that I was missing a huge quality of life improvement!). Funny you should say that. I only noticed I could rotate in zero G last night after taking a cursory glance at the controller map. It doesn't actually tell you in game and because they tell you everything else, I didn't think to check the button layout or even try anything else. I know you can do it in DS2 & 3 but genuinely didn't even think to try it here!

What a fantastic fucking game. Has to be the best sound I've ever experienced in a game.

It's amazing isn't it. It's all the whispering, creaking, groaning and screams etc. You're just on edge the ENTIRE time. At one point (I'm not sure if scripted or not) the elevator doors opened and there was this piercing woman's scream really close by. Properly shit me up.

I am not sure I ever rotated myself in Zero G in DS2 or DS3 either? Are you sure that was possible? DS2 is one of my fav games of all time and if it is possible to do this then it has gone over my head for the last 12 years!

I've still only played about 4 hours and I've screamed in shock at least 3 times so far. It just builds up the tension to almost breaking point until something jumps out on you.

I never thought they would be able to take the atmosphere of the original and actually crank it up a notch. Really cannot fault Motive studio's work here. If this isn't in my top 3 games of the year, then I will be very surprised.

Hmmm. Possibly not. You could definitely "right" yourself mind you. I'll fire up DS3 later and check. Probably my old and ailing brain.

It's properly shat me up more than a few times now. I know you liked it but man Callisto Protocol never scared me even once. Shame.

It did quite a few times tbh but it's not this. Not even close. One of my gripes about CP is that it never went far enough into the whole messing with your head thing Dead Space has always done.

It's most basic crime was making audio logs a thing you had to view in the sub menus rather than them playing them automatically when you picked them up.

And just finished the game on hard mode. Took me just over 20 hrs. I forgot just how long the game is, but it never dragged.
Absolutely fecking awesome. Loved every minute of it.
Fav gun in the end was probably the line gun. Once you have that thing fully upgraded, it's secondary fire is so good. You can literally create a wall of beams in front of you and watch as the enemies get shredded as they walk through it. I was essentially using 1 bullet to kill multiple enemies. Seemed a bit overpowered if I'm honest.
Going to finish up Hi-fi rush and maybe play another short game and wait for the xbox patch before I start new game plus.
Resi 4 remake next month. What a time to be alive.

I’m back in medical and the music is so intense that this alone is essentially going to make me shit myself

It's most basic crime was making audio logs a thing you had to view in the sub menus rather than them playing them automatically when you picked them up. You don’t hear about gameplay patents anymore - used to be news all the time - but I had to wonder if some asshole patented audio logs that play automatically, so Callisto Protocol devs couldn’t implement this feature that is so obvious that no one had ever thought NOT to include it before.

Bit more time on this now. I've clocked up 8 hours since Friday which is nuts. Fucking hell though. It's the sound. The music from medical was turning my bowels to liquid and then it was constant shit moving and growling in the vents. It's a relief when shit kicks off because then at least the adrenaline kicks in and I can start chucking saw blades around the place. This is Demons Souls level of good. The best possible version of a fucking top tier gaming experience.
Also - I'm pretty much exclusively Team Ripper now. Anything gets close and they get mulched. It's upgraded enough as well that even from a distance I can wreck shit by launching blades. Got a flame thrower for backup for little spider twats, plasma cutter to pop the explodey arm twats, and line gun for anything that needs it's legs off quickly, but mainly ripper.

...plasma cutter to pop the explodey arm twats...
I found last night that if you use stasis on them, then for some reason it kills them. Not sure why, or if it even makes sense.

And you're getting enough ammo for them all and cash to upgrade them all?

Mmmmm sort of. I'm only upgrading the Ripper and plasma Cutter first. Line gun I've upped the damage, and the flamer. Those two are very rarely used though so I'm less bothered about them. Flamer is exclusively for the little crawling fuckers.

I love reading threads like this. While I personally have no interest in the Dead Space remake - nothing against it, just not my bag - the sheer, unfettered joy it's bringing to you lovely lot makes me happy.
Also, remind me never to go to a gig (or a hospital) with Wunty, unless he's wearing leakproof trousers.

After finishing the game, I dont think you would get enough cash/nodes to upgrade all weapons fully. I nearly upgraded fully 4 weapons and had a few nodes in some others. I expect new game+ is where you will be able to finish upgrading them all.

Fair do's.
I've upgraded my plasma cutter quite a lot. There's probably only 2 or 3 left to do. Done the suit once and that's it.
I suppose I could use the flamethrower on standard to get rid of pests and then just wait for the line gun
As long as I get enough ammo drops though. I like to set off with about 50 rounds for the cutter at least

I've almost upgraded my Plasma Cutter and it's the one weapon I never get enough ammo for. Like, it's pretty rare if it actually drops.

Sometimes I get loads, other times not so much. There must be a way to figure this out

Had half an hour on it this morning. After 10 mins and one particular encounter, I had zero ammo for nearly everything bar about 6 ripper blades.
Twenty minutes later I had so much ammo for everything I nearly ran out of inventory. Combination of the shop, enemy drops, and finding a couple of storerooms. The drops I had were mainly for the line gun, which I use least. Maybe it's deliberate. give you drops for the weapon you have equipped but aren't using to force you to switch it up.

Yeah, I might try carrying 2 weapons around with me, keep going till both are full and then see what drops after that

The game is clearly dynamic in making sure you never quite run out. I mentioned before, but I was hardly getting health kits, but as soon as I got really low, I then suddenly got 3, 1 from each of the next 3 enemies.
I did at times buy plasma energy from the store if I got low, ESPECIALLY before the final encounter, didn't want to risk being caught short there. Luckily plasma energy is quite cheap.

Have no idea why I love this so much, it's such an unpleasant experience. Whoever came up with the idea of making you turn the lights off is an absolute cunt.
Have the mulchinator now so all other weapons are obsolete.
While I've always loved the original I don't remember it being quite this good, they really have done an amazing job.
