Full lockdown here until Tuesday, then a slight easing of restrictions. Auckland and Northland stay in full lockdown.

Just seen an amazing/horrifying Twitter thread from a journalist who has joined Facebook groups for people who are taking horse dewormer and giving it to their kids. Literally some of the dumbest people alive.

So don’t trust a treatment devised for humans to treat this specific illness but will neck a random cocktail of veterinary meds because Kelly on Facebook said so?
I guess thats going to be one way to reduce our emissions and impact on the climate.

There are a lot of things happening right now that if they were in a book or tv show it would be jumping the shark and break my suspension of disbelief

Maybe it's natures way of making evolution work in a society that looks after its weakest. Darwin has had a crosshair on the likes of PhoenixFlames for years now, maybe this is how he gets him.

They'll do whatever Fox tells them to do or Trump tells them to do.

Double jabbed and in the post jab waiting area. There's about 10 other people and at the centre round the corner there was noone at all. Slightly worrying since this is Stratford, not Tinytown-on-sea, but maybe everyone already got it
Removed three loony antivax stickers on the way here. I feel like a commonsense crusader

I guess thats going to be one way to reduce our emissions and impact on the climate. So there is some limited evidence that Ivermectin may help in reducing symptom severity in some cases. There are three problems with it though: 1) It's still (very) limited evidence and not definitive, peer reviewed, or approved in any way shape or form 2) If it does work and is authorized, it should be prescribed by an actual human doctor and not just downing the shit bought at a hardware store in animal concentrations. People are literally shitting out their intestinal lining and going blind because of the doses they're taking. 3) It's already been weaponized by anti-vaxxers as an "alternative" when, even in the limited evidence scope, it does not work as a preventative measure

Hospitalisations and deaths are similar to mid November last year now, and that was when the pretend lockdown was brought in. This time schools aren’t even open and I know lots of companies are starting to encourage workers back in a month or so.
That combined with the lack of a U.K. supply chain isn’t looking great for Christmas.

Was in the shop for toilet paper, red bull and cake this afternoon and they’ve taken down all the queuing barriers, one way signs and social distance markers on the floor. The staff were maskless too. Guess its all over here.

I would love to know how the recommendation of an animal dewormer for treating Covid came into being. Because at the moment it all just comes across as someone trolling on 4chan.

At high doses it inhibits viral growth in tissue samples, but so do lots of drugs that don't work in actual humans. Antivaxers are also citing this study from pre-covid, but again, the study itself didn't conclude that Ivermectin was effective at preventing viral spread

Personally I think lab leak is fairly concrete.
I'm surprised the antivax crowd are so happy to be infected with an engineered respiratory illness.
No vaccine for me thanks I'll take my chances with this constantly evolving bioweapon.

Can't these old gammon singers just fuck off and take their livestock dewormer. Also his version of "events" after taking the vaccine sounds like bullshit, he sounds like anti-vaxxer, so he would never take it
also heard there is new variant in SA, if they could so making new variants that would be good

Went to France for the long weekend. First time abroad for ages so quite interesting to see how things are working in another country.
- Getting into France was super easy. Only requirement was to show proof of vaccination at the tunnel.
- In France everything was still very strict. Where we were required masks for everyone over six inside or outside and aside from some exposed noses the vast majority followed the rules. Despite what is said here kids don't seem to have any issues with wearing masks for long periods of time. As far as I could see the lanyards and things we have over here to avoid wearing a mask aren't really a thing there, everyone was wearing one.
- The health pass requirements are strictly enforced, we had to show proof of vaccination multiple times a day including to check into hotel, enter shops or the supermarket and before entry into any tourist attractions. They also scan the QR code to check it is valid rather than just looking at it like they do over here. The number of people they have to utilise to perform these checks is crazy. They were also checking everyone correctly scanned the track and trace barcodes before letting them into restaurants.
- Getting back into the UK is a pain in the arse and requires a stupid amount of (IMO pointless) tests and form filling. This combined with the Brexit border checks at the tunnel led to a fair amount of stress and chaos. When things start to return to normal and more people are travelling the border is going to be mess.

What is it with people pulling their masks down to talk? How fucking stupid can you be? If the last few years have taught us anything, it is that there is no upper limit on human stupidity any more (if there ever was)
