You only need to test twice a week for antigen test. ok, thanks, sounds as if I can buy a pack of them from the pharmacy and just do them ourselves...

Do the Swiss use better LFTs then?

Do the Swiss use better LFTs then? Haven't a clue, was going to get them in Spain when there, no idea how they compare with other countries...

LFDs are absolutely not as effective as a PCR test. If you're looking for cast iron reassurance, PCR is the only way to go.

My colleague at work went on holiday to Newquay and she said it was really, really busy. That's your fault - make Newquay bigger.

Right, and there is nothing worse than a shithole that is too small.

Visiting my folks over the bank holiday week. Need to get a train, have to admit i feel a bit apprehensive about it.
Getting the earliest train I can, so hopefully it'll be as quiet as possible, unless every other twat has the same idea. Getting some FFP3 masks too, probably makes bollocks all difference but at least I can pretend to be safer.

Welcome to the world of steel tubes full of coughing people not wearing masks…
…The commute is the absolute worst part of returning to the office for work.

Now that we have been back in the office, I've been getting a runny nose. Haven't had one for about a year and a half. A few people have called in sick with colds.

Office working is not mandatory (yet) at my office. So hopefully it will become the norm to work from home when people have a cold. (What to do when people are feeling a bit under the weather but well enough to work is somewhat up in the air at the moment).

Visited a friend in London for a couple of days and it's a completely different ballgame there with the sheer amount of people and massive discrepancy between those with a mask and those without, especially on the Tube. Honestly I didn't really enjoy that aspect at all.

It really shouldn't be that hard but we've had it ingrained in us for so long that you must be in unless you're at deaths door that it's going to be a hard change even if we want to do it.

I've always despised that mentality of coming in when you're clearly sick. No you're not a hero for coming in, coughing over everyone, doing barely any work and getting sympathetic "you don't look well, go home" comments and then replying "I'll be fine". Just fucking stay at home you cunt, the place will not fall apart without you.

I'll also add to that annoying bosses who couldn't give a fuck about you when you're in the office but when you're sick they're like a fly on shit. I remember when I worked in government they would ask if you could make it in for the afternoon. Always vexed me that did.

To be fair though, when I didn’t get paid for being sick, I’d go in with sniffles and colds. Felt sorry for my concern workers but fucked if I was losing a days wages over it.

The thing those of us that are office workers these days, we get paid sick leave, we get paid a salary. We shouldn't need to show our faces. If we don't do our jobs when we're not sick and not in the office, sack us. It's about trust. These companies that demand you show up for work are cunts that don't trust their workers to do their job.

I've heard rumours that other areas of my company have been making managers go in even after positive tests.
My manager tried getting me to ignore isolation rules when two people in my house tested positive.
2nd jab later today.

I was an office worker at the time but, because it was engineering, they essentially had the same rules for us as the shop floor guys. Ideally everyone should have got it, but there were enough feckless youngsters on the shop floor and it was a small company that they literally couldn’t afford to pay sick.

I'm entitled to sick pay, not much, like three days or so. After that it's onto statuary sick pay which is peanuts.
Worse though is the policy that more than three separate absence incidents would result in a disciplinary.
So if I've had a couple of migraines and then a bad cold, if I fall ill again I'd have to drag myself in.
Or I'd drag myself in unless it was seriously grave, as it felt like I couldn't take the time off in case I *really* needed it later.
Never mind that there's really little benefit in us being in the office anyway, other than to satisfy middle management's power cravings

I think everyone is paid in full for sick leave at my place regardless of number of instances. 3 instances does mean you have to have a discussion with your line manager though which might result in a disciplinary. (Not sure anyone has actually ever had a disciplinary due to absence though, or for anything at all for that matter).

My company is the same but no one bothers with that conversation if you’re off sick 3 times.
