Over 50, not 60.

The current recommendation here is that while non-elderly or non-at risk may be eligible for it they probably don’t need it and it might be better overall to wait longer than six months.
I’ve heard some caution that the boosters may be tweaked over the coming months to be better against current variants as well, so if you get it now it may be for inferior protection that’s not really needed.

I thougj it was only over 60s and at risk getting it? Technically I fall in to the at risk category cos of high blood pressure and a (hopefully somewhat fixed) heart arrhythmia. But I don't really know if I qualify, have to wait and see I guess

I thougj it was only over 60s and at risk getting it? Also, NHS and related businesses' workers. I am eligible for it with my job but didn't get my first and second vaccine until very late (August for my second) so the six months takes me to February.

Only had my 2nd vaccine a few days ago but won’t be getting a 3rd. Not that it was bad getting the other two or anything, no side effects at all from either of them

I'm living with someone who is due for a booster shot, would that make me eligible to get a booster shot too?

Don't think so. My wife got her booster text yesterday but apparently you have to wait 3 months after infection.

Bit of promising news is that if you've had Covid and then been vaccinated on top of that, it enhances the resistance to Covid significantly (90+%). Seems this is the case even if you caught natural Covid a year ago. If you don't have a vaccine but caught Covid, then your subsequent resistance is ~60%.
Basically, our body's immune system is remembering a natural Covid attack longer than people thought it would, or at least thats what the data is showing at the moment.
(From the Zoe study)

That policy was always stupid though, especially as they were only sequencing a tiny portion of positive tests. I think we wasted something like £90 for two PCR tests when we came back from France.

We're just ignoring the death toll here now. 1000 a week adds up to another 50,000 in s year's time but that's OK apparently.

Went to London for a meeting, tube didn't seem too bad until leaving, and the tube to Paddington was just awful, zero social distancing. Most wearing masks fortunately.
I'm kind of resigned to that fact that this is as good as it's ever likely to get going forward, so I cba making decisions on where to go due to Covid. Otherwise I'll basically never do anything ever again.
I'm not the most outgoing of people though, so it's not like I'd want to go out every week or anything anyway.

I’ve been a few places in the last week and mask wearing is probably at around 10-20% but I can see why as it’s not seriously effecting anywhere near the numbers it was last year. Deaths are at a level people have decided is ok and it’s at a similar number to a bad flu year.
That is all with WFH still being in place for a lot of the office workers so things as they are now is probably a sustainable approach, assuming mutations don’t cause big issues in the fire, resistance doesn’t fade much and other treatments improve.

A few of the head guys seem to reckon we'll be through it by spring and it looks that way to me to be honest. Unless something goes tits up obviously.

It's bizarre that article makes no mention of China. It's surely odds on they've manipulated their figures massively too, like Russia.

lmao, my wife is officially going into the office 2 days a week now but only turning up 1 day. Think she has a point to prove. Saves me on taxi duties at least.

Remember when they used to talk about cats and dogs getting covid? Whatever happened to that?

This cold I have had has manifested itself into a really fucking annoying cough. LFT are all saying negative so I'm pretty sure it's just a cold which is weird as I've had it a week now and they never normally hang about like that. Would rather it was covid at this point if it's as bad as it's going to get so at least I get some time off work.

I know at least two people who tested negative on a LFT after getting a positive PCR.

Just got a text from my builder who has tested positive (I knew his boy had tested positive on Wednesday and he hasn’t been round since then). But my 5 yo has had a cough for a few days now, and I’ve had a sniffle for a few days. Numerous LFTs all negative. I suppose it’s probably worth doing a pcr to be sure.

Yeah I just had mine, was surprisingly busy there this morning. Much busier when I took the Mrs for hers a few months back.

Definitely do a PCR with any of the main symptoms. My LFTs were all negative.

What I don't get is (unlike most protests) what actual difference does it make to the protestors if anyone else chooses to get vaccinated? Such a weird way to spend your free time, telling others you think they're wrong...even if their 'wrong' choice is inconsequential to your life.
