I wanted to ban ecosse as his sole contribution to the forum is trying to bait people into an argument. Gremmi was my conscience and talked me out of it and it triggered this warning. Some top moderating from one of the biggest instigators of this shit.

? Deckard doesn’t bait people into an argument on the forum ffs. He can take the piss sure. Major difference. Ecosse does though, constantly. He might reign it in for a week or two but he cannot help himself. Today a prime example - but he does it all the fucking time when he isn’t getting enough attention. Pathetic really.

Well, I finally caught it. Feels like a cold at the moment, mostly coughing and a bit of sneezing. Smell and taste unaffected so far, no breathing trouble.
blergh.

Those who have or have had the new one going round, does your nose get blocked and there's a stinging metallic smell like if your at a swimming pool and you breathe a load of water up through your nose?

My main experience was (and still is) smell pretty much just disappearing altogether. Some on here have spoken of sulphur-type smells.

I had it a few weeks back and had no smell or taste issues but my wifes sense of smell diminished a bit.
For me it was just an anoying cold for a few days, nothing more.

Thanks both. Yeah a housemate has tested positive. I've been feeling like shit for ages and more so the past week. I have a leftover LFT test from a couple of months ago, going to do it tonight.

Was flu-like symptoms for me, with a really bunged up nose too. Felt like I'd got a Total Recall style tracker up there, with headaches and an extra pressure feeling behind my eyes. Didn't notice the odd smell issue, nor did I experience any major loss of taste or smell (perhaps a minor change for a few days whilst feeling flu-like) but bothering overly obvious.

I’ve done a fair few train journeys but I’ve never seen it as busy as the train I’m on now. And it’s busy because staff are off ill so they can only do half the carriages. This kind of thing’s happening everywhere is it? I’ve barely left the house this year

geefe not that often, certainly not by train. I just mean I wouldn’t be surprised if every industry is experiencing staff shortages at the same time, but I’d not seen it first hand until today

Not fun.

That sounds the same as when I had it. Doctor had me overdosing on Beconaise to get my sinuses working again and stop the crap going down to my chest.

Anyone else have the sense that smell and taste were absolutely fine while you had symptoms, but after recovering and feeling physically ok again they found their sense of smell not gone, but at least diminished?

My COVID bout was first week of December.
My taste and smell still don’t work properly at all, I’m tired all the time, and I have a bunch of other symptoms off the NHS Long COVID list, even though my original symptoms were relatively mild.
The NHS page actually starts with the announcement that some people seem to experience this regardless of how seriously ill they were with the virus.

Yup, I'm way worse now than when I actually had it. It has emboldened the chronic sinusitis that I live with anyway and the numbness in my feet and fingers is driving me crazy. On top of that, I sliced my fingernail off yesterday when cooking - I'm sure it's because I'm operating at 50%.
But yeah, it's over and shit.

I know lockdown talk so is last year, but stuff sounds pretty fucked in China (specifically in Shanghai).
People trapped indoors with a stricter lockdown than ever. Struggling to source food. Posting about how difficult it is banned on social media. People standing on balconies protesting, being told to get back indoors by drones flying by (!).
Insane.

I think what we've learned is that, on one hand, don't be draconian but also don't be laissez-faire.
Perhaps, some sort of medium ground?

New favourite thing I saw this morning: middle-aged gentleman on the bus (I only mention age to indicate he'd theoretically be more at risk, mind), double mask, both of them medical, so far so good... And "dicknose" on full and proud display. WTF is the point then, man?!? It's like closing up the windows in your car while it's raining, then leaving the sunroof open...

Has anyone noticed on the NHS Covid app, if you put in that you've got it, the app just says "Be careful" and gives a countdown timer.
Doesn't say to actually isolate.

Well, if they tell you to be careful and then you don't self-isolate, you're not exactly being careful, now are you? Not their fault you can't follow basic guidance, it's all on you /s

After all this time we just lost someone who we actually know and not a relative of a friend or colleague. Granted she was 83 but only caught it as she was in hospital as her husband was dying. Both gone in a week of eachother. Tragic really.

Probably grateful to not have to live without their partner at that age. Would be living for the sake of it at that point.

Well yes, certainly an element of that for sure and the family are big on the old Catholicism so that was the spin. Like I say though, all a bit sad. This was back in Australia too.

Oh it's definitely sad. We had an elderly couple move in to the house behind us a couple of years ago, both of them very lovely. We noticed on our Christmas card that there was only one name now and when we see the lady she just seems lost. When you have spent your whole life with someone and they are suddenly gone it must be brutal, I know you might have kids and stuff but they have their own lives by that stage.

My 85 year old father in law has just lost his wife of 62 years and it is sad but he still manages to find things to like in life. He's just discovered Chinese food, for example.
