The test was so traumatic for the youngest too, nursery have said he can go back if he has a clear lateral flow test but there's no way I can put him (and us) through that experience again unless absolutely necessary so he's staying at home with us. As someone who works in a school, thank you. I've had four children and my teaching assistant come down with it and the official guidelines are that we just keep the windows open and pretend everything's fine. If ten children in the class get it we go to code red which means they don't mix with the rest of the school and I keep the windows open and pretend everything's fine. |

Asking questions is fine other then when you already know the actual scientific answer but you keep asking anyway as it's not the answer you want.
It's also fantastic that the "just asking questions" types - Minaj for example - don't apply their same levels of 'critical thinking' to less binary issues like socio-economics.

Some celebrities are worth listening to about certain subjects as they are experts in some fields, they have a lot of free time.
This is just an idiot with far too much influence, and as good as free speech is, when it will cause people to not get the vaccine and endanger lives then there should be consequences. The media should be more responsible with their reporting as well, instead of giving even a hint that she (or minaj) have the faintest idea what they’re on about.

Yeah, there was some vague backtracking when it all started to look a bit wrong (didn’t she try to claim she was joking shortly after?), then there was the whole lying about going to the White House, and now it’s just a shit show from start to finish. I imagine when her publicist said “get control of the news cycle” this wasn’t what they had in mind.

Comedy comeuppance out of Australia today. A big crowd of construction workers threw a fit at their union office over tea rooms and vaccine mandates, causing property damage, at a time where so many other people aren’t able to work and get paid at all. The state government went “fine then” and shut down the entire construction industry. They can eat their tea cake at home like the rest of us. I feel sorry for my favourite local bakery though, they’ll lose money over this.

So we're in day 4 of a high temperature for the boy. He's managing it fine, as long as we keep on top of the painkillers. No need to call the docs yet I don't think, it's low level and he's woken up saying he feels better this morning, which is good.
I have a cough, waiting for the result to come back later today. Otherwise feel fine, no temperature or anything else (although was a bit tired yesterday, I put that down to lack of sleep).
Pain. In. The. Fucking. Arse.

My wife has now tested + on the lateral flow and feels shabby as (along with general health anxiety, this is not a great mix - panic attacks threatening all morning..). I feel fine bar the cough - surely I wouldn't be so lucky?!

Just got my flu vaccine (the company I work for pay for it, which is added bonus) outside boots, there is anti-vax stickers in the car park for flu, saying the usual shit but for flu eg "no flu vaxxxx!!!1111" these fucking idiots putting these shit up. Covid as really unleashed the stupid antivax in the UK
Its worth getting the flu vaccine. As all the posts got wiped in on the old forum by roger reedpop, in 2016 I was working a temp and this fucking idiot turned up for work with flu (after getting the train in (and maybe the bus in) and then back home) and I got really bad flu for christmas 2016. thanks for that...

Our company just published guidelines for returning to the office next month and one of things was that no-one should go in if feeling even slightly under the weather.
Thankfully they also said going back is entirely voluntary at this stage so bollocks to that, I'm staying at home.

We have been told that testing positive for covid counts as a standard illness now and that if it pushes us past the threshold for illnesses in a year then we can face disciplinary action. Completely ignoring the fact it's a legal requirement for us to stay home if infected. I'm pretty sure the first time it happens will result in a legal battle which they will be losing.
