Reading the CDC report, there's also the fact that many kids have been avoiding getting checked for things like diabetes until recently as people have been avoiding hospitals. Also 1 in 5 children in the US are pre-diabetic so as they say a percentage of those who got COVID will have been already diabetic before they caught it.
It sounds like there may be a link, but whether it's because COVID hit those who were pre-diabetic or undiagnosed diabetic more than those who weren't is not known and that's an important factor. Also, there was not a statistical increase noted in under 12s, so this report is 12-18 years (and for people with paid healthcare who used it). There's also a difference between the two databases they used for this study and the results they got. The dB that coded only when a positive COVID test was given had a much lower statistical increase.
I don't know if that article stated these things as it's paywalled so I can't read it.

Novax apparently got an exemption as he claims he tested positive on 16th December.
But posted that he received this honorary stamp from the Serbian postal service on the 17th

Guy I know in the far extended family is so anti vax he doesn't believe covid is real. Well, he fucked around and found out as he caught covid and got hit so bad he contracted pneumonia and taken to hospital. Was in for a day before the hospital discharged him as they needed the bed. He and his wife are now keeping it to themselves and not telling anyone else, I can only assume because he is embarrassed by it. But then he'll be one of these dickheads that will spin it 'I got covid and it wasn't so bad!'

This is it. Short of life changing issues after, or being ventilated etc, I don't think you're going to change their mind. One I know thinks Djokovic is a hero and because he's Serbian, knows what it's like to live under oppression and communism. Novak was 5 when the Bosnian war broke out.

I wouldn't be surprised if he actually had tested positive on the 16th and turned up to that event without a mask regardless.
He's unvaccinated so he's got a very good chance of catching it, but he has an arrogance that he won't be badly affected by it and wants to seem tough. He's in a quandary now though, I can't imagine the border force will look kindly on any explanation he has. If he tries to claim that event happened before the 16th they will look into it.
Didn't Serbia have a really strong vaccine roll out early on? Seems bizarre that they now have jumped onto the antivax train because of their hero who's only interested in his own selfish reasons. Probably out of a fear it will affect all the doping stuff he's used over the years to boost him to the level he is.

The weirdest thing is people trying to make his situation equivalent to refugees in Australia's detention centres.

I know sports people aren't always the sharpest tools in the box, but I can't get my head around them potentially jeopardising their careers with long term lung issues in the decision not to get vaccinated. Surely they're surrounded by smart people too and doctors that know what's up. Utterly baffling.

And he still might be right

The thing with Novak is that he's already unpopular and divides opinion. At this stage in his career he should be playing for his place in history, not dicking around like some flat-earther.
He's risking his legacy and might end up largely ignored like Margaret Court instead of being forever celebrated like Billie Jean King and Rod Laver.
I bet Nadal and Federer are delighted.

It's a good point. I'm a bit of a part-time tennis fan, and despite his record, I really don't like him (even before all this). Dunno what it is, there's something about him that just winds me up.

You reckon his doctor wants to put his cushy gravy train in jeopardy by trying to convince the big baby to get his jab, probably got a bonus for finding some ivermectin for him

I know I'm not allowed to post about data (bad Psychotext, no!), but there's a minor bit of good news in today's figures.
For the first time since Christmas the number of people in English hospitals with COVID has dropped vs the day before.

Surely they're surrounded by smart people too and doctors that know what's up. Utterly baffling. Aaron Rodgers, the quarterback from Green Bay Packers, got covid and was caught out as having been unvaccinated despite NFL rules mandating it. He was playing it coy, saying he always said he was 'immunised' from covid and it was journalists fault for not specifying the question of whether he got the vaccine or not, but I do remember one of the reasons he said he wouldn't get the vaccine was that he had worries of what it would do to his physical health, in particular harming his chances of conceiving children as he heard some doubts of the vaccine causing that. Nevermind that there have been more examples of sterilisation in unvaccinated covid victims than those who are vaccinated but you can't say that. His doctor supposedly has been pushing these experimental treatments on him to boost his immunity levels rather than not getting the vaccine, so it's no guarantee that the biggest sports stars are any better informed than the rest of us, perhaps less so.
He was also going on about being cancelled by the woke mob and all so he's just a dickhead.

Sometimes you just know. Though for me I wouldn't be surprised if part of the reason is because I'm a big Nadal fan. lol

Apparently one in four premier League players are unvaccinated. Bunch of overpaid thicko dipshits.

I can do it with my sack of you want, I'm probably old enough that I won't have to crouch much either so you won't be too close to my anus unless you ask to be.
