We've obviously gotta get restrictions in early so that they can allow us to have Christmas. I really would like to come back for Christmas but I'm definitely preparing for the idea of that not being possible.

Gonna call it, restrictions back in some form within 2 months, if not in the next month. I hope you’re wrong.

Wait, did you come over here stealing our PS5s? What the fuck Jambo Damn right I did. And I'd do it again by waking up early to be in an online queue so I can give a business some money.

I think we are probably done with lockdown unless a new vaccine resistant variant pops up. At most masks might come back but the plan now seems for us all to catch it ASAP.

My brother-in-law works in adult social care - they've been told to stock up on enough PPE to last until next summer, and to prep for a new lockdown by November.

Can’t imagine there will be another lockdown….and even if there was, there’s no way they’d be planning for it now, because this government never plans this far in advance for anything.

Pretty sure the government are on the 'Fuck It' phase of their Covid plan, so no more restrictions on the horizon.
Although, now I think about it...I think it's always been that way until they start getting critised. To be fair, the Tories and their mates will get the best care if they get ill so forget the proles. They don't want a silly pandemic getting in the way of their day to day life. Heaven forbid!

Not nice reading but very compelling. These people are genuine heroes, imagine having to do that every day? I get pissed off at work but that really puts things into context.

Imagine the feeling of regret while you're going through that knowing that an injection could have stopped it. Bit you didn't because of something you watched on youtube. Fucking idiots.

Apparently that regret is very common, even the grandstanding, anti-vax idiots on social media end up crying and admitting they should have had the jab.
Monumental stupidity. Hard to understate.

And no matter how many instances of it come out and circulate on social media, people would rather eat apple flavoured horse de wormer and risk shitting out their stomach lining then get the jab.

Yeah how Covid affects us has changed due to the vaccine and that makes it much harder to justify a full lockdown. www.economist.com/leaders/how-the-pandemic-became-stagflationary/21804167That said a new variant or deaths going unacceptably high might push us to it. We really need to re-mandate mask wearing though, it's actually been proved to slow the spread.

I'd like to see some comparisons of growth rate between Scotland (where masks are still mandatory) and England, once the back to school impact has been factored in. It might even exist....

Just from my own anecdotal observations, people seem to think it's all over.

I guess we'd need clearer and stronger messaging that masks do actually work. Logically I think they must work, but I haven't seen (not that I look often though) that clearly says the consensus is that they work, and by X% or whatever.

I read an article the other day on a big study in Bangladesh but I'm having trouble finding it now. It looked at infection rates with no mask, cloth mask and blue surgical masks. The blue ones were by far the best, cloth masks helped but much less and as you would expect no mask was by far the worst.
Masks have become more about class and political ideology here though so I'm not sure they could get people back to using them even if they tried.

I can't remember where I saw it but there was a medical picture that showed it considerably reduced viral load, which is a thing that people gloss over. You may still get Covid while wearing a mask but the viral load you receive will be significantly less which would reduce the severity of your symptoms. Obviously you have stupid people who see masks as a way of trapping CO2 as well as those who use bad faith arguments that masks aren't 100% effective so why wear one.

A work colleague was telling me how his uncle went blind after taking the vaccine. And then the next day he said that his neighbour died 6 days after taking it.
I dont get anti vax vibes from him, but when I told him I was already double jabbed he looked almost disappointed.

I had a contractor come to fix our boiler recently. He said that he wasn't jabbed, and I questioned why. Started coming out with loads of absolute tosh, like they invented it, and they'll just invent another one. You don't know what's in the vaccines, all that shit.
He said his wife and father died a few years ago, I think he's lashing out at the medical establishment as a facet of that grief. I can understand it, but he's still a fucking idiot.
Was minded to report him to his company, but didn't want to get him fired or anything. He could be going round houses spreading it merrily. Don't like to grass but he shouldn't really be allowed to do that kind of job if he's not willing to consider the risk he is posing to other people.

We had our regular plumber come over around early June to fit some TRV's on our upstairs radiators and I was surprised he wasn't wearing a mask. I asked him to wear one as we had a newborn in the house and again was gobsmacked that he said "Sure, if you have one I'll wear one".
I suppose it's good that he actually wore it but I shouldn't need to ask and I definitely shouldn't need to provide one!
We won't be using him again anytime soon.

Apparently the vaccine just messed up with the nerves behind his eyes to the point where he's now permanently blind. I didn't call it out at the time because I didn't want to get wrapped up in an argument, especially during lunch. But if he tries it again, with anyone else, I'm tempted to just question further and see how far it can go.

It's totally acceptible to me to judge the fuck out of someone for not wearing a mask. If someone isn't prepared to do the absolute bare minimum to protect their fellow citizens from a deadly virus during a pandemic, at little inconvenience to themselves, I'm perfectly within my rights to judge them a selfish asshole.
Lots of people are advertising exactly who they are at this time
