In a couple years we'll end up with BRINO, which is all I've ever wanted since 2016.

Finish off the routine with the music abruptly stopping, spreading his cheeks and mouthing "OPEN FOR BUSINESS".

That's the thing about these free trade deals, they open up free trade for us in their country, but also open up free trade for them in our country. Kinda like we had with the EU countries.
Free Trade deals are almost never going to be good news for farmers if they have to compete with a lot of overseas farmers whose costs are lower and farms are bigger.
Japan should have been a good target, as their domestic produce is way more inefficiently produced and overpriced, but you're not going to out-negotiate the Japanese on stuff like that.
The other issue with this 'pivot to asia' is that it's a bloody long way from the UK. It's hard to make an impact on their market when you're going to have huge shipping and logistic costs.

With any luck this and the Aussie trade deal will lead to easier migration. It won't replace freedom of movement, but it would be something.

Nothing says sovereignty like desperately trying to join a pan-pacific trading bloc with countries thousands of miles away

Was reading yesterday that Australia is changing its immigration plans to allow more people in. Low population growth, covid, migrants leaving and a skills shortage mean they're opening up. Add in a trade deal and you could all be living in 40 degree heat being attacked by spiders toads and snakes in 2022!

Migrant immigrant workers are going to become a desirable commodity. Until there's too many as some countries start to go under water....

It would be deeply ironic if they did.
I wonder if someone will make a new Command & Conquer game where you're battling over a resource of "immigrant workers".

I believe BF2042 is already doing that with the idea of proxy armies via the term NoPats.

It's almost like the EU think the UK is acting in bad faith regards Brexit. Based on nothing whatsoever, beyond years and years of the UK acting in bad faith. Foreigners.
