At PMQs Starmer should just ask one question over and over, each week: "are you going to call a general election?"
If the answer is no, just have the opposition walk out and say they're going to keep getting ready to clean up the Tory's mess.
Over and over until Rishi caves.

You know they’re at the stage where they will talk the talk but ultimately kick the can down the road in order to shaft Labour as much as possible on various costly issues… but, apparently she actually said out loud “keep it quiet for two years and it’s someone else’s problem” on this one. It’s just a classroom of children and some diseased concrete, nothing too pressing, eh?

Labour need to hammer that point home. Every time they're on TV about an issue they should mention that the Tories are just leaving them a big mess to fix.

This is like the 'well, covid only kills 1% of people' thing. Thats fine but it sucks if youre one of the kids who gets hit by a collapsing wall in the middle of french.
The ideal number of rotten schools should be 0.

Will be one year on from her budget soon. I wonder if all those papers that called it the GOAT will be telling us how much better everything is now.
Edit: that Labour tweet is so good.

Will be one year on from her budget soon. Tomorrow is the 1 year anniversary of her cursing the queen. A full month of festivities ahead.

That is genuinely good Comms by Labour, although I am sure will be spun back around somehow. Trivialising/political point scoring or something.

East Anglia Bylines story from last night (the one saying Keegan had privately said back in February they just needed to keep a lid on the RAAC story for a couple of years and then it will be someone else's problem) has popped up on The Guardian live blog. DfE spokesperson has denied the story, of course.

Interestingly Gillian Keegan in that interview laid the responsibility of school maintenance on local government which is now going bankrupt across the country. Why? The Tories have cut their central funding by something crazy like 90% over the last ten years, whilst simultaneously divesting more accountability to them. All at a time of increased pressure on public services, social care etc.

Who could have predicted that reducing local government funding would do such a thing? In Woking's case though that was partly down to investments that didn't work out, I know Woking pretty well and it getting into trouble for 1.2 billion is pretty extreme, it's a decent sized town but to owe more than Birmingham is ridiculous.

Woking doesn't look like it had £1.2million spent on it

To be fair, they have been investing a lot in the town in last few years. Building work has been pretty much constant for about 5 years or so.
I wasn't that surprised when it came out they had overspent, although certainly wasn't expecting it to be by that much.

Woking doesn't look like it had £1.2 million spent on it The Martian Warmachine probably cost a few quid with all that stainless steel. It's a bit odd that Woking really likes being associated with HG Wells (the local spoons is named after him, it has a really nice time machine clock thing in the ceiling), the Martians only landed at Horsell Common and obliterated Woking as their first action after Wells spent some time living in the town.

It would make the borough's debt problem rather moot, also get rid of Woking FC and as an Aldershot supporter I wouldn't be too upset.

Let's not forget the problem of their own making of having to pay the equal pay lawsuit for underpaying a ton of women who worked for the council, including my own mum. Other than that the council has been run TERRIBLY for as long as I can remember this isn't a surprise to me.

(the local spoons is named after him, it has a really nice time machine clock thing in the ceiling) That almost makes me want to go to a Spoons... almost. But, yeah, Wells hated the place. There was no feelings of affection that made him choose it as the place to be destroyed.

Not sure what investment in Birmingham has been like, but sounds like the issues there are, as you say, the equal pay lawsuit and also wasting loads of money on an Oracle system (which also apparently told them that they needed to spend a lot more on the lawsuit).

There's been a lot of investment too, a lot in building the Metro infrastructure and a lot of Chinese investment from the amount of buildings going up

While there is and has been a lot of building work in Birmingham not much of that is council funded, those skyscrapers shooting up everywhere aren't anything to do with the council. Ive always felt Birmingham City Council is way to big and Birmingham would be better if it were split into areas of the city like most other large cities.
