I had the local labour campaigners knock yesterday, they asked if I'd be willing to display a placard. I live in a tradionally staunch tory area but apparently polling shows Labour have a chance so I thought fuck it, I'll display one even if just to show I'm not voting those tory cunts!

Fair enough. So they do have an impact? I'm a little jaded by advertising as I have been in design for few decades and see everything promotional with a critical eye. Even though I'll vote Labour being told to 'Vote Labour' is sort of off-putting - my contrarian side says "fuck it, I'll vote Lib Dem". So, I suppose, I am affected. :-)

Incase anyone is interested, Tokyo is doing a mayoral election right now and they have these specified board locations around town, often outside schools or public buildings, with numbered blank spaces, and candidates running for election get their posters put into those spaces. But this year a bunch of random people have gone a bit crazy with taking advantage of it. One guy who is basically a one-person party has essentially rented out poster space to people who donate, so his posters are now taking up dozens of the slots. Another candidate basically just had a poster of a naked girl. Which didn't go down well on the ones outside schools. Etc..
And there aren't any rules to cover most of this because no-one had thought they'd be necessary.
(note the repeated ones, which I think just rented out part of the space)
It's all gone a bit wrong.

I’ve inspected that photo carefully and I see no naked girls, user Bill. ![>:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/angry.png)

I carefully selected a photo without the naked girl poster, as you are far too young and pure for such things.
I hope you appreciate the amount of photos I had to go through in order to find a safe one.

Unfortunately they replaced it the next day.

Bill makes sure we don't see any naked ladies and then motti puts a large picture of a cunt in the thread instead!

As we're doing placard watch, I had to pop into neighbouring Farnham this afternoon, every placard I saw on the way into the new Farnham and Bordon constituency (which is cross border between Surrey and Hampshire that seems a bit odd) were Lib Dem. Electoral Calculus is predicting a Lib win by quite a way.

Every grubby little student hovel has a Green Party poster in their window in my ward (Brighton Pavilion). Little fuckers don’t even really live here. They will all be back to Casa Mama & Papi in two years

So Sunak's new strategy is to say how our defences are in peril because of the looming Labour government, and how our defences are safer under him... after what is it, two weeks since he fucked off early from that d-day commemoration? During this very election period??

I've only seen Labour or Corbyn posters. What we have all seen are random posters by "The Friends of Jeremy Corbyn", e.g. not stuff paid for out of elections expenses as you can't fly poster them and they need a named person and address on them. There's also been a load of laminated bits of paper attached to lampposts with no info except "The Labour Candidate supports Genocide. Vote Corbyn" or "The Labour Candidate will Privatise the Whittington. Vote Corbyn." Which is basically just slander. The whole ground war bit of it has been fucking miserable. Luckily I only got shouted at the once by a mad old lady. Anyway this kinda sums it up: www.onlondon.co.uk/dave-hill-corbynisms-familiar-failings-have-been-on-full-display-in-london/

Looks like it's going to be raining on Friday. If Starmer doesn't give his speech outside Downing Street whilst holding an umbrella and referencing it, I will be very disappointed.

Reform will be almost level with the Tories at about 20 and 18 percent respectively.

Had five cards from Labour today. Four by post and one hand delivered.
I think they’re targeting this seat

Anyway this kinda sums it up: www.onlondon.co.uk/dave-hill-corbynisms-familiar-failings-have-been-on-full-display-in-london/I'm not a big fan of Corbyn, he has quite a few faults. I didn't vote for him last time despite thinking him a good constituent MP - his seat was safe and I wanted to show my support for the Greens. I don't think he would have made a good PM, though would have been preferable to Johnson. That article I think misses the important points though. It's an attack on both him and Faiza Shaheen suggesting they are hurting the Labour party by standing - and that their approach to politics is (has been, and will be) a failure. It's also an attack on his supporters (or at least campaigners) - he might as well just label them all SJWs who aren't serious people - that's how it comes across. Corbyn has local support because he's been a good local MP. He has opinions I disagree with (like most people though there isn't a single MP or party I wholly agree with - online "quizzes" put me closest to Lib Den and Green, with Labour close 3rd) but I have no doubt he will represent the local community should he get elected again. I think Starmer and his government will be vastly superior to what we've had for the last 14 years, in both conduct and policy. He's not going to magically fix things and has shown very little progressive ambition. His approach seems to be carry on pretty much as before, but with adults in charge - which as said is vastly superior, but is it enough. There will be (hopefully) less scandal, less culture wars, and a cabinet not packed with the dregs of a dying party. But I don't hold out much hope for progressive change, and I don't trust Starmer either. Labour don't need Islington North to win the election, but I do think the incoming Labour government needs to be challenged, and I also think the people of Islington North deserve someone who will represent them, and in that regard I think Corbyn will do better than Nargund. I also want a Labour party that listens to it's local members, and doesn't just consist of a load of yes men (and women) who's main job is to back up the leader.

Sadly, I haven't yet had one single tory or reform candidate at the door so I can tell them to fuck off.
I think they know it's not happening round here.

Still don't want to get hopes up, but eep! As much as I want that to be true, I highly doubt the Tories will lose that many. There will need some ridiculous swings away from them in dozens of seats for that to happen.

Considering he spends most of his time fannying on about foreign relations that he has no baring on? Though luckily most the irritating yes men in the local party have all fucked off to campaign for him. Hopefully he does lose as predicted and we can all move on from his idiotic cult. His support isn't that deep, people are very Labour or Progressive but particularly to Corbyn? I don't think so. All the dirty tricks and negative campaigning by his proxies has REALLY pissed me off though so I'm not in a good mood.
