That would be excusable if they had done a good job but they haven't, saying that while she's wearing a hot mic is straight out of The Thick of It.

Did she really think that wasn't going to end up online?

Did she really think that wasn't going to end up online? They don't care anymore. Even if Rish had the guts to sack her, who's left to replace her

What's so bizarre about it is she starts to take the mic off then stops (presumably she couldn't do it herself so was waiting for help) and says it all while the camera was clearly still on as the tally light would be lit.

Yeah, I think it was likely a dig at all the fuckwits she is surrounded by while being completely oblivious to the fact that she is absolutely no better.

She's apologised for the choice language. Wilfully missing the point, the swears were the least offensive part of it.

That's because she genuinely believes that she's done a great job and we are lucky to have her.

You just know the tory scum, saw the stuff about the schools and thought "Fucking peasants!, why don't they go to £50k a term private school like boris-heddington-the cunt the third of Westminster does?"

East Anglia Bylines has a bit of a scoop. A reliable source has informed us that in early February, two months after the risk level was raised to high, Education Secretary Gillian Keegan remarked, ‘We just need to keep the lid on this for two years and then it’s someone else’s problem.’eastangliabylines.co.uk/keegan-keeps-the-lid-on-raac/

Fingers crossed some more reliable sources appear to back this up and go to the mainstream media with it. Once again, they are trying to make it sound like the swearing was the problem with what she said today. Starting to wonder if there is a memo going around telling ministers to make sure they swear before saying something stupid, so they can apologise for swearing and not for the stupid thing they said.

Trust the process! Side note, must be interesting to see how -presumably- sure she is that they would lose... Unless by "someone else's problem" she means the next Tory schmuck to take the position?

It’s just further confirmation that they know they are fucked. At this point continually refusing an early election is just sadism.

Trust the process! That's essentially what half their policies are at the moment. Managed decline, and headaches (like the completely uncosted extra childcare hours) where the only thought is to make things difficult for Labour. Fuck the actual consequences on the country.

tangential question: anyone know if the issue with this type of concrete is the usage scenario (ie. panels under tension) rather than a problem with aerated concrete in general (eg. thermalite blocks under compression)?
(one quarter of our chimney is held up by 7.5n aerated blocks) (an upgrade, I'd hoped, the previous owners banking on fucking plasterboard to be load bearing)

Expert I saw on the BBC said it’s fine as long as it’s well maintained. Problems arise if water has got in and started rusting the steel reinforcement.
Because of the honeycomb, water can get to the steel quicker than with normal concrete.

It's got nice symmetry with the end of the last Tory government when schools all had portacabin classrooms.

I think with the aerated concrete a lot of it is due to the thermal expansion of materials and it's moisture resistance. If you have these pockets that are being filled with water. then it becoming very cold, turning to ice and contracting, then becoming hot and those spaces expanding, you are creating a lot of instability over time.
I'm much more trained in the material properties of Steel and timber TBH. Never actually thought about the material properties of different types of concrete but the above makes sense to me (allowance for the thermal expansion/contraction is actually a desirable outcome in the construction of roads or bridges for obvious reasons).
Still reminded of the Simpsons episode where the Mob came in to build a shit load of ramps at the school which collapsed almost immediately.
