I'm presuming he's kept the goatee as well, given the reaction to him going clean shaven for Bill and Ted 3 ended up with him looking like Severus Snape.

You get different scenes each time you watch it.

Keanu couldnβt be arsed cutting his John Wick hair for this then Might still do the fully bald look when he first leaves the matrix again? Just maybe this time he let them digitally remove the eye lashes..

I'm actually interested/hopeful in this, does that make me a bad person?

Iβll definitely watch it, I donβt expect it to be particularly good but Iβm confident Iβll be less disappointed than I was with the original sequels

I have a soft spot for most of the Matrix stuff. I don't think 2 and 3 were that bad and even the games were enjoyable in their own shitty way.

Really liked 2.
Trim the Zion stuff and cut the rave completely and tone down the Architect bit and it's great. The Smith battle aged poorly.

The Smith battle aged poorly. Thing is, the Burly Brawl was pants at the time. It didn't age, it Benjamin Buttoned its way into ignominy. Matrix 1 had some good old fashioned practical work, and some respectable CGI. Matrix 2 then seemed to borrow someone's Amiga to knock up a few fight scenes and hope for the best. Never understood the difference in quality.

That website/trailer is quite cool. Sat here on my phone for the last 10 minutes rewatching the teasers, still getting new snippets.
The original is still one of my absolute favourite cinema experiences ever, so I'm obviously praying this turns out decent.
I don't even mind the sequels to be honest. They're massively flawed and frequently disappear up their own arse, but they're infinitely more interesting than most of the mega budget dross Hollywood chucks out now.

I still maintain the Burly Brawl was good for the time, in context of other films at the time and of the sheer scale of what they were doing in close up in clear lighting in slow mo. LotR had big epic CGI battles but viewed from about a mile away. Spiderman's CG relied on moody lighting or quick camera cuts. Blade 2's CG was just absolutely shit. Harry Potter looked like play dough.
I mean, yeah, it still misfires as a setpiece (the chateau fight is way better) and got parodied approximately seventeen seconds after release, but I can't fault the ambition.

To be honest, even nearly 20 years later (Christ, has it been that long?) I'm still not convinced the technology to make the Burly Brawl genuinely convincing and photo-real is actually there yet.
I think it's a great sequence in a number of ways, it's just a shame the technology wasn't up to snuff at the time.

I find the sequels watchable, but they are massively up their own arse. The writing gets worse by the second in those too. By the time I get to the end of the 3rd one I'm pretty fatigued by the whole thing. Takes away from the ending completely.
Not sure where I sit on a 4th one. I don't think there is really a story to tell, but who knows, perhaps it'll be surprising.
You certainly can resurrect dead characters and do anything you want given the premise, but it doesn't mean you should.

Lambert Wilson hamming up his accent as the Merovingian gave it a special Allo Allo vibe.

I wonder why the didn't recast Trinity and Neo, but they did with Morpheus? Is Fishburne a wanker IRL or something?
Seems weird to have those 2 as older characters and him as a younger recast. Perhaps it was a plot decision but it seems a bit off to me.

Apparently he was never asked. And he's supposed to be an incredibly nice and professional guy off camera.

They should have brought back Joey Pants though, him being the only character to go "nah fuck that, gimme the dream back" had more potential depth than any of the cod "BUT WHAT IS REAL" philosophy.

I imagine it's because he's a big fat guy now and they didn't want it to look like the Nick Frost fight scenes in Into the Badlands.

From the few clips on the teaser site it certainly looks nice. Much more in keeping with the first one.
I just hope they don't completely "Force Awakens" it. If Neo and Trinity are there just to pass the torch to some far less interesting but younger characters then I would be a bit disappointed.

Supposedly not. I think it's pretty clear they're going the crazy meta angle though (seriously, in one of the shots he's standing outside a cafe called Simulatte). Which could work. But also could be utterly terrible.

If the meta stuff is completely accurate it sounds like it's going to be awful.

Well personally I'd rather they had a go at something crazy meta than a soft reboot type of thing, even if it turns out shit.
Ghostbusters Afterlife looks like it's going to be Force Awakens'd and I have lost interest in that as a result.
