It was nice to see Christina Ricci in something again at least. She's in Yellowjackets at the moment and is really good in that.

I've seen a few people mention that. I assumed it was something Marvel or Star Wars related. Sounds like Alive but with footballers instead of rugballers? I'll give it a pop.

Anyone have any idea when this is going to be available to stream? I have a boy that really can't wait to watch it. Me too if I'm honest. Next week

I was gonna go watch this and spider-man, but now Covid cases are spiking here, so I think I missed my window.

I didn't think it was an SNL skit, but I expected some twist at some point, when all the idiotic details happening up to this point would be explained and I'd go "now it makes sense, oh how clever!" Like when noticing a character with a crappy accent, and first you think the actor is doing a bad job, but it is later revealed that the character faked the accent as part of the plot.
I waited the entire movie for that to happen, But then the movie was over, and it stayed shit. We rewatched the trilogy before this, and 2 and 3 are massively better than this.

Weird that I'd trust Drew Goddard more with a Matrix film than either of the Wachowskis who created it.

Yeah, it can’t be worse than the last one. And I don’t care that it was “intentionally bad” to kill the franchise, it just wasn’t enjoyable.

Oh, interesting. I like Drew Goddard and I wasn't expecting any more Matrix after the last one.
Personally, thought the first half of Resurrections was very enjoyable, whilst it was all being a big piss-take. I can only assume some producers or WB execs at some point reminded Lana Wachowski that she was supposed to make a Matrix film and it turned to utter shit that was even worse then the original sequels.

Yeah the first part is pretty fun. Once they start trying to save Trinity it goes south. Not to mention none of the action scenes with Neo actually felt like The Matrix.

I enjoyed it fine but it did feel like the Matrix half was totally pointless

Couldn't get on with Resurrections at all to be honest. Some interesting ideas and Reeves and Moss slipped fairly effortlessly back into their roles but that aside the whole thing just felt incredibly off.
The action sequences in particular were an absolute disaster, which is absolutely not something you want to be saying about a Matrix film.
Goddard's an interesting filmmaker though and I certainly don't think the idea is tapped out just yet.

I liked Resurrections, but it does feel like Lana wanted to tank the franchise so WB would stop trying to churn out sausage-factory Matrix films without the sisters involvement.
Failed, clearly.

Eh, I quite liked it. I liked the take that neo wasn’t the one but they were the ones and a lot of it contemporised pretty well.
Did it need to be made? No. But as an effort to prevent a hack job, it’s fine.

I didn't hate 4 and it left it reasonably open to continue exploring the world so it's not the dumbest idea ever.
I did remember seeing it was a bit of a flop though, so surprised they have greenlit what will surely be another big budget for another one.

Yeah, I also enjoyed it. Obviously not a patch on the first one but I thought it was better than the other 2 sequels, which bored the shit out of me.

The action sequences in particular were an absolute disaster, which is absolutely not something you want to be saying about a Matrix film. That was the biggest issue once the second half kicked off. The sequels have pretty terrible stories and often are fairly nonsensical, but at least the action was still well done, particularly Reloaded. Resurrections felt really amateurish, some how increasingly so as the film went on. It really felt like everyone involved just couldn't be arsed.

I didn't like the action sequences in the sequels, there was no sense of peril or impact to any of them. Probably down to how effects-heavy they were. Oh no! Morpheus nearly fell off the truck for the umpteenth time, zzz, wake me up when it's over.

It was a bit of a surprise about how small scale Resurrections felt. None of the action sequences were even as big as the first film from what I remember.

I remember thinking I liked Resurrections but now I think about it I cannot honestly tell you one single thing that happened in it.

I'd put a lot of the action down to Keanu getting on a bit and them having to dial it back but he seems to shit out a John Wick film every fortnight or so.

I remember thinking I liked Resurrections but now I think about it I cannot honestly tell you one single thing that happened in it. There’s some way to link this to Beaudrillard’s concept of simulacra in a funny way but I’m just too lazy to bother

It was a bit of a surprise about how small scale Resurrections felt. None of the action sequences were even as big as the first film from what I remember. Apart from the stuff at the start with the blue haired girl everything was just a typical lie budget action film.
