I thought that Monster Hunter looked really good... but I've never tried that series and I can't escape the feeling that it's going to be one of those games that just doesn't gel

Watched a bit of the video. F1 looks really impressive, but it then goes onto the second game in their list of descending order of significant improvements with GT7 and I can barely tell the difference (with the caveat that I'm watching on YouTube and on my phone). Same goes for Horizon Forbidden West.

Read most of the article, and looked at the screenshot comparisons. Some clear improvements, FF7 especially looks a lot crisper, but watching my partner play it I never thought it looked blurry (maybe a tad sparse at times compared to some other titles).
On GT7, I am never going to notice reflections between cars when racing. And most of the other titles looked like subtle differences.
Fidelity mode visuals at Performance frame rates is of course better technically, but when I struggle to see the difference between the two modes when playing anyway for me at least there isn't really an advantage.
If you have a massive 8K display it would definitely be worth it, but then that's a tiny market.
Be interesting to see how it boosts PSVR2, but with the limited support that's getting again the benefit is minimal in impact for most people.

Watching the DF video some of the stuff was very noticeable like F1 but others really didn't look too different or actually potentially worse like GT7.
The Pro is an upgrade but for most people it probably wouldn't be worth upgrading, so just like the PS4 Pro in that respect. It's not like you're going from a potential jet engine to something nice and quiet as a bonus feature.
If I had the spare money I'd probably buy one but I don't think in 2024 there's a lot of reason but that could change.
I'd love to have seen CP2077 to see if that could do the RT mode at a higher framerate, if that could hit 60 that would be quite something.

The RT mode wasn't even that transformative really especially as it was only indoor RT shadows.
