They could just as easily have shown only Ghost of Yotei and the Stellar Blade x NieR Automata bit and they'd have captured ~99% of this SoP's appeal.

More Astrobot is good, midnight walk might be alright and Hell is Us looked interesting.
Alan wake 2 DLC in October. Not even played the other DLC yet.
Horizon Zero Dawn upgrade path at £9.99? Hmm not played the DLC for that and I had no intention of getting the remastered version.
Last of us Part 1 on ps+ will be worth a look.
Should be able to play that blindfolded by now and a new GoT in 2025 was the best suprise.
I got Deadspace a few months ago. If only I'd have waited and wtf is that fortnite controller? Looks like a kid slapped stickers on the thing.
Meh, should have gone to bed and just caught up with the news tomorrow.

Left rather more impressed watching that than I expected, Metro VR is shaping up really well and Hitman VR is certainly not that shitty Quest one, the earlier version on PSVR was very well done (a hell of a lot better than Quest 3) for how iffy that could be on visuals so I'm looking forward to seeing how that turns out. Other stuff seemed worth a look too and of course ending on Ghost of Yotei was rather groovy, as Jin would have been dead for centuries I imagine gaining his gear and finding out what happened to him will be part of the plot. Hopefully Legends returns or maybe even a bigger co-op experience.
edit: Hitman VR is a cheap upgrade to existing owners:

So basically not much exciting stuff, a remaster of very good looking ps4 game but still the same game, Monster Hunter which I love but it's multiplatform and then 1 big 1st party game. I was not impressed with that at all.

My expectations were subterranean, so I wasn't all that disappointed in the end - Ghost of Yōtei was a nice surprise (if one of the worst-kept secrets in gaming, a sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, counts as a "surprise"), and a release date for Monster Hunter Wilds was about all I was hoping for in any case.
Hopefully Metal Gear will show up at TGS this week.

As soon as I read, "female protagonist" in the GameSpot article, I wondered how much frothing at the mouth was taking place in certain sections of the internet.

Well there shouldn't be really, I mean, they got what they wanted! A Japanese protganist in an AC like game! Surely they've nothing to complain about now. Yes I'm aware of Naoe in Shadows, but they clearly don't because they only think Yasuke is in the game. She's on the cover of the game and they still don't see she's a protaganist I do wonder what how Ubisoft are feeling? There's news that they've stopped their upcoming press preview of the game. Could they be delaying it, did they head about the Ghost of Yotei stuff and panicked? They already been upstaged by Tsushima for doing the AC game in this setting first and now this sequel confirmation has taken the wind out of their sails for this one. Albeit Yotei is prob some ways away. |

I absolutely adore HZD but hated the sequel, mainly due to where they took the story. It was graphically stunning though, so I'm actually pretty stoked about this remaster and very happy to pay a tenner for the original game with shinier graphics and faster load times.

I'm not really seeing all the "third-person hack and slash games" alluded to above (not in the sense of Devil May Cry, old-school God of War, or Bayonetta, anyway) - most of the modern games that are described as such tend to be Soulslikes, or some other form of RPG, or open-world action games that just happen to have melee combat, and so it seems to be here.
If Sony *has* to keep on remastering its back catalogue, give me a compilation with God of War 1, 2, and Ascension, dammit!

I'm very hyped for The Lake House as well. More Control in my Alan Wake is just what I ordered.
Also, I'm actually quite interested in the Horizon remaster (even though it's mainly pointless) as I've owned it for years and never gotten around to playing it. No real reason, just get sidetracked. I started it once and bounced off it but every time I see footage it makes me want to go back to it. One thing I'm not clear about is if this upgrade includes the DLC? If so, I can see myself getting it.
Plus the Soul Reaver(s) remaster. I know I'll get it. I'll play them both for ten minutes, but I've a big fondness for Soul Reaver purely because it reminds me of my Dreamcast.
So that's one DLC, two remasters and one full new game I'm interested in. Which isn't exactly great tbh. Although there were quite a few new IPs in there, which was nice, none of them floated my boat.

Forgot to watch last night, so propped my phone up on my desk this morning and had it on whilst settling into work. Was a fine presentation. Not amazing, but a few pieces here and there.
Midnight Walk looked really cool. Whether that gameplay lives up to the look is another matter, but definitely intrigued.
Surprising amount of VR shown. Midnight Walk offering a VR mode is really cool and Metro should be pretty good. Hitman VR was pretty rubbish when I played it on PC a couple of years ago, but that was based on the PSVR1 version, so maybe this will be much better (and will be added to the PC version).
Hell is Us looked creepy, with the dudes with big holes in their faces. Other than that, a bit meh. Same goes with ArcheAge, which had the added problem of being overshadowed by Dragon Age, which looked possibly good.
I assume the Horizon Zero Dawn Remaster is bringing it up to the PC version. So, surprised it is getting a PC release too. They mentioned the upgrade for PS4 owners will be £9.99, but no mention of PC. It should be free there, as can't imagine it is going to be much of an upgrade.
Ghosts of Yotei reminds me I really need to play Ghosts of Tsushima.

Tsushima could pass for a PS5 game when it came out IMHO, I'm confident that Yotei will blow our socks off without needing a £700 boost on top (and to be honest even if there was a big difference there's no way DadFE or I would buy a PS5 Pro just for that reason) |
