Going to be a while for BG3 to drop in price, especially with the Xbox digital version probably coming out some time next month they wouldn't want to undercut that. In quite surprising news the Crucial SSDs that are PS5 compatible are pretty cheap on Amazon today, 1TB for 58, 2TB for £100. Weirdly the amount claimed is registering at 0% on my browser that seems really unlikely. www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0C34Y8C8LThanks for this, picked up up. Seems a good price, as well as including the heatsink. My little boy loves cars etc so my stick hard drive is mostly Hot Wheels, Paw Patrol Racing, Wreckfest and Monster Jam games

Sounds like SSD prices will be on the way up soon, so I'd definitely grab one over BF/CM if you're interested. I've got 1TB in mine, but quite tempted to get a 2TB one to replace it with at those prices.

Posted this in the Nioh thread, but not everyone goes there, so just in case anyone else is interested: The Nioh Collection (physical edition only, unfortunately), including both Nioh Remastered games and all DLCs, is currently on sale for 20 bucks: direct.playstation.com/en-us/buy-games/the-nioh-collection-ps5If you'd like to enjoy these two great games for a frankly insultingly low price for the amount of content therein, you've got until the 28th of this month to grab them! Edit: link seemed to be bugging out a bit, should be good now

US PlayStation Direct doesn't ship outside the US so unfortunately only a bargain for people across the pond, it's not on the UK site.

Very late to the party, but I am currently playing Horizon Zero Dawn. 6 years after trying it for 40 minutes and not feeling it in 2017. But I can't get enough of it now.

On SSDs, I recently picked up a couple of 4TB drives for my PC and decided to take out the 2TB I already had in there and put it into to my PS5. It's an SN850, which I believe is one recommended by Sony.
I don't currently have a heatsink on it. Never had any need on PC, as temps never seem to go above 40-50°c. It seems to be recommended for the PS5 to use one, but does anyone have experience of using one without? Had a quick glance at some online tests and they seem high, but still within operating temperatures. Obviously though, those are just snapshots and not what it is like in the long term.

I'm going to say get a heatsink on it. For something that's screwed into a a very small enclosed area it's not worth forgoing a heatsink. But obviously you do you.

You can get one for under a tenner on Amazon and you literally just peel a bit of plastic off, line it up and let the self adhesive do the rest. For a few quid and 30 seconds of your life it's probably worth just doing tbh. PS5's do generally run hot too so I'd imagine it would fail at some point without.

Yeah they don't cost very much at all and who knows just how hot an SSD could get in the console without one. The PS5 is extremely good at staying quiet but they can certainly chuck out the heat when things get really busy, I tend to game while sitting quite close to my console with it under my desk and you can feel the warmth at range let alone being an SSD inside it.

Fair enough, you have convinced me to spend the £6.50 on one.

I gotz a one of those memory fings, are they considered to have parity with the inbuilt hard drive? Any advantage to installing games on it, or preferring the internal for fave games?

I got a WD Black back when they first let you install them and load times are more or less the same with that one. Think it slightly varies from drive to drive.

A lot of the installable ones outpace the internal one now.
You won't miss anything having the add on one as your default install location.
Saves and screenshots/videos you capture can only be saved to the internal drive so you're giving yourself more room for them.
Moving games between internal SSD and the installed drive is incredibly zippy too.

True, but strangely there always seem to be issues with some games if you install them onto the M2 SSD like Spiderman 2.

Well I got the plat with SM2 on my WD SSD so it worked fine for me, no other issues in the two years I've been using it.

Aye, that's news to me. Although I tend to play native PS5 stuff from system memory out of some weird habit.
Only issues I've heard of were when DF deliberately put a below spec drive in there and further limited it's speed.

I've installed my memory now, fairly straightforward process.
I have a feeling I may have had my digital edition upside down since launch, as the expansion slot wasn't under what I had as the top cover, it was under what I had as the bottom

I don't know if anyone is after a new controller, but they are reduced to €49.99 in Smyths.
Cex are currently offering €52 cash for a Dualsense.
Currently Smyths also have an offer that if you spend €50 or more in store (excludes click and collect), you get €5 off.
So conceivably if you get something cheap enough with the controller like batteries or whatever you'll make a quid or two and end up with a new controller (with new warranty)

Physical media has as many if not more challenges. Good luck finding a way to play your VHS on any modern TV.

Luckily Sony haven't pulled the plug completely on the PS3, and you can still update physical games. That's the real issue for me, in the future if I have Cyberpunk physically, and the server has gone..

Thankfully there's piracy This is the real solution to digital archiving and one I’ve had to turn to a few times recently. I’ve even half thought about resurrecting the old NAS. I’ve had money in my hand, access to a billion storefronts and streaming services and still couldn’t find ‘Dark City: the directors cut’ to watch legally.
