Almost certainly the huge increase in the API access cost, Microsoft got out earlier in the year and I can't see Nintendo continuing either.

The twenty or so views from people autoscrolling through their timeline will be an overwhelming loss.

It’s more the likes from the sex bots i’m going to miss. At least they can see me.

Surprised we haven’t seen some sort of review of the Portal yet. It’s out next week right?

Think impressions are going up on Monday (seem to remember reading that in the resetera thread).
I kind of want one but it’s hard to know how remote play will work in my house. Tried remote playing the ps5 on my phone a few months back and it was awful, but tried kingdom hearts and miles morales on the new streaming functionality on the PS5 and it worked pretty well. I was really impressed. So hopefully the tech inside gives good performance even in sub optimal conditions.

I'm definitely more curious about it now and want to see reviews. Just bought an apartment with my partner and it could comfortably solve a lot of tv-sharing debates if it's solid.

I've got one coming on Wednesday. I'm quite looking forward to it tbh as I've got a good hour most evenings these days where the wife wants to watch a bit of TV and I'm not really doing much. Hopefully the connection is as good as they have claimed.

As a general pre-outline, I have a completely unremarkable internet connection and router and my house seemingly has several unidentified electromagnetic pockets where the WiFi decides it's going to go down to one bar for no apparent reason.
So if it works as intended for me on Wednesday I'm going to stick my neck out and say it will work well for anyone.

If you cant wait, I picked up a cheap razer kishi a few weeks ago and it works really well with the iphone. XBox works a bit better than PSN but I was surprised how smooth it is now.
I do have mesh wifi and all that caper but unless they really shit the bed, I cant see how it would be bad, per se.

I have one already. My network isn’t good enough to run it in some rooms so if Portal has similar connectivity it’s a no for me.

I have one already. My network isn’t good enough to run it in some rooms so if Portal has similar connectivity it’s a no for me. Looking at the previews, I think its going to be 100% reliant on your wifi and wont support a Wii U-esque direct connection so, yeah, you might be stuffed. Or you could get some mesh nodes as a little treat on top.

Some previews are suggesting that there’s direct WiFi going on there (or whatever Sony is calling its proprietary link), but it’s still very much a mystery until Monday, unless someone breaks NDA.
I held off on preordering until that’s confirmed. Vita PS4 remote play was absolutely flawless for me, but every other device has been spotty to unplayable.

I got that PSTV thing they pretended didn't exist after a week after release. It was absolute dogshit so I'm wary of this despite wanting it.

It was pretty handy for playing P4G on TV, but looked like absolute dogshit. Think I sold mine after a couple of weeks.
Also didn't help that it needed one of the ridiculously expensive proprietary memory cards.

Yeah I think I played a couple of PS1 classics on it and it promptly gathered dust. They were shite.
Weirdly the price on eBay for them was fairly high during Covid so I actually ended up selling it for what I'd bought it at originally.

Plenty of positive reviews out there as well, Polygon are pretty low on my list when it comes to tech sites.
I've not got a need for one so that's why I'm not buying.

The biggest pause button ive seen is 'at $200, youre most of the way there to a steam deck which will do everything this does and more'.

If I didn't have a backbone, then I'd have got one. Backbone serves multiple purposes for Xbox, Apple Arcade and PS. I think the big benefit from Portal is that it cuts out the lag from whatever controller you're using to remote play, but I really don't see too much lag on the backbone.
