Yeah, absolutely. Open world fatigue is definitely a thing with me. I usually try to leave a few months between open world games, especially if they're as huge as something like Odyssey. I'll probably take a break after this until Horizon next year.

Somehow completely missed Fenix Rising never knew that game got released. I was forced to buy Ghost of Tsushima with the PS5 and a extra controller (guess it reduces scalpers margins so fine by me). Does Fenix Rising play anything like Botw?

Now thats over, I was wondering if you know a underrated PS4 PS5 upgrade? Mind you I never had a pro so I am rather easily impressed. The obvious one not mentioned so far is Days Gone, which you should have available for free in the PS Plus Collection. Great game.

I'd second Days Gone, an excellent upgrade.
Don't engage with him Lou unless you want him to form out the floor behind you and spike you in the face as you drink your coffee.

I couldn't get on with Days Gone. It looked the business and having it with the plus collection and running at 60 I couldn't wait to start it up. I was majorly disappointed. Not sure why, maybe the open world fatigue was hitting me strong, but I found it a chore to play. I was physically sighing every time I picked up crafting gubbins.
I wouldn't say Fenyx Rising is a BOTW clone or homage. I couldn't get on with Zelda either whereas I loved Fenyx. It's more standard open world affair but very arcadey with fun fighting mechanics amplified with power up attacks. Not as big as creed type open world but still fairly lofty. Only thing like Zelda really is it has puzzle dungeons. To me they were the worst part of the game.

I was the other way around. I quite liked the puzzles, the rest of it was just a recent Assassin's Creed game wrapped in some cartoony graphics and stripped of the po-facedness.

The combat was a lot less shit than Assassin's Creed.

How much of a improvement is the combat? Assasins creed has looked a awfull lot like the lukewarm Rise of the Argonauts(for those who played it on ps3). I lost all interest in assasins creed when they introduced that kind of combat.
The world looks fun and I have a soft spot for mini games and decent puzzles (none of the drag box here naughty dog crap).

It's more of a traditional style combat system compared to whatever the fuck the Assassin's Creed games are supposed to be. It's nothing amazing but it's pretty good fun.

rajinI recently played DOOM Eternal which ran beautifully and looked amazing at 60fps with ray tracing enabled on PS5. I've dipped back into Skyrim for a bit for the first time in ages and *installed a mod* from the mod list that adds 60fps & 90fov. Damn that's a huge game changer in terms of how the game looks and runs. I'm also using it with a load of other mods installed too and it seems to work great so far. Dark Souls 3 and Sekiro both run at 60fps on PS5, as do The Surge 2 (not sure about 1) and Nioh 1&2. Control, which I really enjoyed, has a 60fps mode. No Man's Sky is 60fps on PS5 I believe. I haven't played these, but I think Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Ghost Recon Breakpoint and The Divison 2 have all had 60fps updates from Ubisoft. Final Fantasy VII Remake looks clean and slick with the 60fps update which that got. Shadow of the Tomb Raider has had a 60fps update on PS5 and I enjoyed that back on PS4 Pro at a lower framerate. Cyberpunk 2077 looks really slick on PS5 when I tried it a few months back on an old save, but it's still running on the PS4 code so it's a bit empty in terms of population density etc. I'd wait for the proper next-gen update for this. Dying Light is getting a PS5 update at some point soon apparently and I'm looking forward to that as it's a brilliant zombie game.

Just remembered Gran Turismo Sport exists so might get that and Ace Combat for 10 euro.

Yeah I'm enjoying it. Not scary and the combat is pretty awful bit it's weird enough to be very entertaining. Looks like Guardians of the Galaxy is surprisingly not shit too. If you don't think its scary you haven't got to the shit your pants bit yet. Agree on the combat though, it's poo and enemies take far too many headshots. I left virtual surround off and let the pulse headset do the 3d audio. I'm assuming the shit your pants bit has something to do with the creepy little second lord fuck I'm about to go looking for.

Akshully, that's pretty slow for a Bethesda game.

It dipped under £30 on PC last week, and I did find myself tempted. But no! £20 or under, Christmas game, stay the course.

Re Immortals Fenyx Rising…
I loved this. Bright and breezy graphics, fun and lightly amusing story, good combat, satisfying puzzles and basically just a joy to play.
I enjoyed it much more than Zelda and it got its hooks in me far more than any other Ubi open world game.
Admittedly it does have a map with a plethora of icons to hoover up, but you’re never compelled to do all of them (even for the Platinum trophy) and the story can be completed in far less time than that.
You do need to stick with it through the opening couple of hours, as the starting area is probably the most bland, but once you get your glider wings and a mount (which you should do just as you start the second main area), traversing the map is a lot more enjoyable.
Definitely recommended.

The only thing that's putting me off the plat is the cut down 100 trees trophy. Think I've only done 5 or so so far so can imagine that one being a massive pain in the behind... Still loving it after finishing 3/4 blessing questlines. Even combat gets pretty fun when you start working abilities and perfect dodges into it. Noticed my combo meter was at over 400 in one fight yesterday

Still loving it after finishing 3/4 blessing questlines. Even combat gets pretty fun when you start working abilities and perfect dodges into it. Noticed my combo meter was at over 400 in one fight yesterday The trees one isn’t too bad. There are a few forest areas in the starting zone where you can get a good 15-20 trees in one go. Some of them have a glowing ring and will drop a Golden Amber - you need a lot of those to upgrade your gear, so they’re worth gathering when you can. If you want the Platinum, the main things to work on as you go are gear and stamina/life upgrades and the Heroic Tasks you get from the notice board where Hermes hangs out. Thankfully all but a few of the tasks are retrospective (so if you’ve completed or even partially done them before unlocking the task, you still get credit) but even so, there are a few that I had to specifically go for. Collecting all the mounts is also worth keeping an eye on. Good news is none of that is necessary for the story. I really enjoyed getting the Platinum - it probably added 10 hours to my playtime to get it, but I enjoyed the game enough that it didn’t feel like a chore.

I basically echo everything killerbee just said. I went for 1000GP on the Series X earlier this year, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Just tooling around the world was fun.

I'm thinking of getting a PS5 soon. To help me decide, what games are out now or in November/December that are reasons to own a PS5 right now? Exclusives because I have a Series X. Can be remakes and back compats like Last Of Us, Uncharted and Tsushima.
I don't like Souls games.

Returnal is my GoTY. Astrobot is amazing as well.
R&C is a graphical showcase, and Deathloop seems good fun as well.

I sold my PS4 about a year before the PS5 launched, so it was a mix of new stuff and catching up on stuff that I missed out on for me. TloU2, GoT, Ratchet & Clank, Spider-Man MM, Astrobot, Persona 5 Royal were all well worth playing IMO.
Returnal wasn't my cuppa, but it sure looks nice! FF7 Remake was entertaining enough.
Then there's other stuff like TWEWY2 and Death Stranding on my backlog (waiting for VRR before I touch the latter)

Nice. Heard of those but yes that's what I'm after.
What's the controller like? Is it ok to get along with, does it add anything? Does it need charging or is it batteries?

I really do enjoy my PS5 and the games I've bought have all been pretty damn good. My only complaint so far, well two complaints, one, the battery life of the controller is TERRIBLE and two, the fact that I can't turn off my ps5 by holding down the PS button on the controller. I always forget.
