Left stick on one of my controllers has gone tits up, it seems to be fighting my inputs. Has anyone repaired one? Is it easy and worth it? This has now just happened to one of mine completely out of the blue. Very severe drift on the same stick. I'm not saying I blame you, but I blame you Danno

Quick question: I just received a promotion email from Sony to upgrade my current PS+ Essentials subscription to Premium for free for the remaining period, which just happens to be a bit over a year. My question is, will it be easy to downgrade my Premium sub back to Essentials once it ends? I don't intend to pay up more money than I already do, since I usually buy the PS exclusive games I'm interested in, but I can't resist a good offer This sounds like a good phishing email. Thanks for the warning, but, as already said, it is legit as it's part of a PS+ celebration and appears on Sony's website. However, it didn't work for me (so far at least) and I cannot figure out why... It throws an "unknown error" at checkout, either from the console or the webstore.

The only official controller prior to this gen I've ever had an issue with, was the Megadrive. My dog chewed the cables up.

Only official ones I've ever had problems with has been the elite gen 2 randomly powering off and the rubber grips from the elite gen 1 starting to come off and needing to be superglued back in place. Plus a bit of stick drift on that one.
So my two most expensive controllers... Lovely.

I would appear to be very lucky, I'm still using my launch day DualSense on a daily basis without any real problems. The only time I've had anything odd with it was my R2 trigger felt a bit odd one day and I assumed that maybe the spring had broken or similar. Opened it up and took the trigger off and a small bit of black plastic, I assume it was plastic, fell out. I looked around the trigger area expecting to see something had sheered off and there didn't seem to be anything missing and the spring was fine. I put it back together again and it's been working perfectly in about the 3-4 months since it happened.

Pretty sure my Dreamcast controller will work like it's brand new.

My launch PS4 controller is still fine with no drift but the battery is shot to shit and only lasts a fraction of what it used to. It's been relegated to a backup emulation controller for my nephew. My launch PS5 controller is still perfect. Never had any controller develop drift on all consoles I've owned. Dunno if I'm lucky or just that my hands aren't as manky as other peoples..

i was one of the "my Dualsense has been totally fine ever since I got it" crowd as well, until recent fateful events It could happen to you too!
My Dualshock 4's were fine until late in the consoles cycle. A limited edition one I bought got drift within the year. Sony replaced it, but then that started drifting too shortly after, so they replaced it again

My launch controller is fine, but I bought a second and the trigger broke on that within a couple of months. The replacement for that is still ok, but I’ve swapped to the Edge controllers now.
Other than that one I don’t think I’ve ever had an issue with an official controller on any platform, unless I’ve tinkered with it.

My launch ones are fine, Dualsense Edge is fine. The only one that fucked up for me was a Midnight Black one I got when they brought out ones with new colours. That one developed a right stick that wouldn't accelerate properly. Made my pathetic reactions look even worse in shooters.

I took a can of compressed air to the analogue stick, then pressed it in and rotated it 10 times clockwise and anti-clockwise since a Youtube video said to try it.
Hey presto it actually worked! Controller seems fine now. Happy days, no longer part of the uncouth Dualsense drift crowd.

The second of our three controllers is ours with a problem. R2 sticks slightly most kf the time with false presses etc. Hopefully an easy fix if I disassemble it. Think it was a V2. My original and a subsequent V2 have been fine so far.

I’d never risk opening up a controller again. I remember the Triangle button on my DualShock 3 always automatically triggering in-game. Saw online that the fix was open up and.. realign.. something. I don’t remember, but I thought “oh that looks easy! I can fix that.” Opened it up, everything seemed fine, but then I had trouble closing it properly at the triggers. Tried for a few minutes until the plastic bit that holds the triggers in place snapped, making my R2 useless. Never messing with a Sony controller again.

The DS4 was fiddly to put back together also. I kept snapping the plastic hinge that operated the R2 trigger. I'd fixed that a couple of time until I got some black metal upgrades. Never had the same problem again.
Also had to replace the charging port and ribbon cable. It was only when I was playing TT ride on the edge that I noticed the right or left stick inputs didn't fully work correctly.

Mine has gone through something of a stress test these last few weeks with the release of SF6 and has started to drift left pretty badly.

I was one of the 7 people interested in buying a PSQ but 230 quid for a tablet with 1 app on it is fucking laughable unless it's a handheld LG C series or some shit.

So 200 odd quid then. Will have to have a good screen and streaming be pretty seamless to tempt me.

If it's that price it's basically destined to be a reverse Vita TV already.

I don't think they've ever done conversion rates. Regardless both 300 dollars or 200 quid it's effectively DOA apart from the few people who need to have everything that is branded, new and shiny just to pass the time.

Shouldn't be surprised after that Elite controller was overpriced too.
