Sony are a bit rubbish at updating the web store with PS+ titles. Checked a couple of times yesterday and as usual the monthly games page still showed the previous month's ones. That's if you can actually find them - takes me around 30 seconds each month just to find out where they are on the website since the Essential/Extra/Premium makeover. So much this. I think they had a look at Amazon Prime UI and thought "yeah, that exact chaos is what we want". Always have to turn on the PS5 to navigate to PS+ cause the website is so shite, website doesn't even recognize I have an Extra subscription FFS. The app is a good shout, thanks Downgrading from Extra to Essential at the end of the month anyway, fucked if I can work out what I am actually losing. Don't really care TBH, do not have time to play the Essential content as it is.

There are loads of bargains to be had at the moment. 2TB WD SN850X for £150 before shipping from ebuyer for example.
I'm quite tempted to grab a 2TB one for my PC and chuck my 1TB 980 Pro in the PS5.

Remember to update the firmware on the 980 Pro if you haven't already.

If you got it very recently you're probably fine but drives have been killing themselves. You'll need to plug it into a PC as that's what the update software runs on.

Another nice addition to the recent firmware update - if you have a disc game installed and it becomes available on PS+, you can hit download to add it to your library and it’ll activate with the disc install immediately. Previously you had to delete the disc install and download the digital to be able to use it.

Anyone have and ps plus / game catalog recommendations?
I’ve just finished stray, which I enjoyed. Was a bit bittersweet after losing my cat last year but was a nice experience.
I was looking at returnal and Deathloop, but I don’t get much time and not sure I have the patience for all of the repetition, and frustration that comes with that. It’s what is putting off going back to demon’s souls as well.

Returnal is worth it just to try with your headphones on, the sound is absolutely incredible. It's not that hard either, you will die but it's not crushing like a souls game. It's still easily one of the best ps5 games as well.

On the shorter end of things I just played and enjoyed The Quarry. They also have the first two Dark Pictures Anthology games too if you like the genre. Downloaded Ghostwire Tokyo as setting looks interesting and I never did get around to convincing myself to buy it. There is also a bunch of Yakuza games if you haven't played them yet.
I haven't bothered with big ticket items like Horizon 2 as still need to finish the first one. The Spiderman games seemed decent enough from the dabble I had too. Stray was cool but you just played that. Tons of indie/smaller games (like the Gravity Rushes and Square Enix's smaller JRPGs) like Bloodstained (is Blasphemous on there too?).

Try TOEM.
It’s practically the polar opposite of Souls or Returnal- thoroughly chilled out and relaxing to play, mostly consisting of light puzzles based on taking photos of the game world.
It’s pretty short too (and an easy Platinum if that’s your thing). I really enjoyed it in between playing bigger games.

Thanks guys.
I’ll give both returnal and Deathloop a go and see if either sticks. Toem sounds interesting too so I’ll give that a go as well.

Lucky bastard getting to play Returnal for the first time. It's an incredible game that I still think will end up game of this gen.

Strangely, reading some of the reviews put me off a bit, despite it reviewing well. I’ll give that a go first then.

I like the look of this but it is a roguelike ? that is one genre I just can't get into, or bother to learn! I hate not being able to save when and where I want and repeating the same sections over and over, I have zero patience with this in gaming. I wish I could though as I love the look and atmosphere of the sublime Bloodborne.

Yeah you probably won’t like it despite being told forcefully by everyone that does that you must.

It's well worth a look if you've got it free with PS+ I'm not a fan of rougelikes, but still enjoyed my short time with Returnal, and keep meaning to go back to it. When it clicks and you're in a zen-like state weaving between bullets it's bloody great.

I absolutely loved my time with Returnal, it was difficult but I still managed to complete it with a bit of luck along the way (I'm usually not very good at stuff like this or soulsbourne games) It's not for everyone but if you've got plus it's absolutely worth giving it the time to see if it gets its hook into you.

Returnal is amazing if you can deal with the difficulty. It's actually not too bad once you get into it. I thought Deathloop was utterly shit though.

Yeah you probably won’t like it despite being told forcefully by everyone that does that you must. This is how I feel about the Souls games. They've still never clicked for me.

Nor me.
I want them to click for me because I'm clearly missing out.

You never know. Elden Ring is the only one that’s clicked but it clicked in a big way and I platinumed it.
But if someone really doesn’t like randomly generative games they can’t learn then they’re probably not going to like Returnal.

Returnal isn’t as random as it first seems and you do learn it’s tricks fairly quickly.
The levels are generally the same rooms randomly linked together rather than random rooms randomly linked, if that makes sense.
