If this was wireless capable and worked with PC, it would be a no brainer. As it is, it's dead man walking and will work out no different than the PSVR1.
Currently a Quest 2 is far more flexible (in terms of usage and software availability) and has the mediums killer app (Alyx) available via PC.
If I was in the market i'd be waiting to see what the Quest 3 brings.

I don't like how they don't do arms, just floating hands in first person games.

I'm not sure if "works with PC" is big on Sony's list of priorities, tbh.

I am surprised MS haven't at least partnered with a third party to make a set compatible with PC and Xbox.

They seem to currently be more focussed on the software side of the market.

They've all-but ruled out Xbox compatibility though, which seems in interesting decision. I guess feedback from devs is that it's not worth it but you'd have thought PC compatibility and GamePass could significantly improve VR's install base.
EDIT: a quick read of the article says I'm utterly, hopelessly wrong.

I've got a lot of not started or not finished VR titles from gen 1. Astrobot, Thumper, Rez, Paper Beast, Ghost Giant, Farpoint, Vader, Apex Construct, Batman, Arizona Sunshine. All because the set-up is a ballache. I'm hoping we get a lot of upgrades, or even some re-releases, like Moss.
Beat Saber and Pistol Whip will be my most played, but I'd like to actually check out more of the stuff I already have.

I'm not sure if "works with PC" is big on Sony's list of priorities, tbh. Why not though? Opening PSVR2 to PC users as well, increases the potential sales audience and (assuming they are selling it for a profit) their bottom line; after all price-wise it is similar to SP5 and a sale is a sale. Plus, among PC users there may be more people willing to experiment with VR than console users, IMHO, especially seeing that traditionally VR sets target PC users...

I have no idea, I didn't make the decision, I just think that's how it seems. đ You'd think it'd be in their interests to sell as much hardware as possible, but these days exclusivity seems to matter a great deal for some reason.

Itâs weird. I agree with you, doggo, but the way theyâre releasing everything on PC now, I donât know. Even when they sign exclusivity deals with games, it tends to be âjust donât put it on Xboxâ deals.
Although I do find it interesting how much PC players want the VR2 to be PC compatible, seeing as they have many other options, and Sonyâs official headset is the only option for PlayStation.

Can't speak for everyone, but for me splashing out 600⏠for a luxury peripheral (that seems like a decent piece of kit) I could use on two devices (including one with cheaper games, may I add) would make better (not a lot more, but you know) sense than splashing an equal or even higher amount of money to use it on one device...
...not to mention that I wouldn't have to accommodate any wall cameras that an Index or Vive would require.
Besides, having more options doesn't hurt anybody!

Yeah, I'd be straight in there like a crafty crab on day 1 if full PC compatibility was an option.
As it is I'll probably just ignore this yet again.

And it's not as if they can use PSVR2 as a PS5 system seller. The price point prevents that. Although unclear if any price point would allow that.

There are other options, but the PSVR2 technically seems to be the best option, with very good resolution and image quality. Personally, I have an original Vive and would love to upgrade it, but nothing really seems to be a worthwhile jump in quality, outside the PSVR2. As already mentioned, it would also be good to have a device that works on both a PC and the PS5 I don't see it happening though. As we already discussed (I think in this thread) it will need official support and some kind of additional bit of kit to plug it in. It will need to connect into your GPU some how and very few dedicated GPUs have USB-C.

I imagine they don't want to it on PC as they won't recover hardware costs like they do through software on the ps5.

Just have an updated tos to approve on the PS5. Amused at the last change in the âwhatâs changed?â clickthrough. âconfirmed that mandatory consumer protection laws will apply - clause 29â good to hear Sony are considering obeying laws, especially the âmandatoryâ laws, unlike those many optional laws that are more like suggestions really.

Worth getting a Ps5 now or wait for a slim version?
GoW bundle with a controller and Ragnarok seems mighty tempting.

No news on the Slim yet. Not saying itâs not coming, just who knows when? So if youâre tempted and theyâre available, go for it.

Itâs going to take a week tops before someone works out how to get PS VR2 working on PC surely?

I gave VC a try and thought the scooter felt off to drive, turned off, fired it up a bit later and did a rampage, the gang members you had to kill just walked around like they were taking in the sights, turned off, deleted.

Itâs odd that pre-orders for VR havenât gone live yet. I wonder if itâs going to be delayed.
