As per point two, the offerings on the top tier being shored up by games that dont need to be streamed is absolutely bullshit.
Like I cant play Ultra Street Fighter 4 without premium because its a 'classic PS3' game but I can pay 19.99 to buy the PS4 version. Utter garbage.

The only game I'd want to play is wipEout, but fuck streaming that.

Just buy the Omega Collection. It’s 4K and contains both Wipeout HD and 2048.

Oof. I know it’s been on sale on many of the recent PSN sales, but the Upgrade to Extra/Premium button does make purchasing titles a pain.
I unfortunately don’t know the work around. Maybe clicking the “…” and choosing “Select Version.” Or maybe through the mobile app, or web browser site.

Apparently you can only buy it through the console, not the web store. I wonder if that's the same for Until Dawn, because it's always been unavailable for me for some reason.
The version thing is weird too. Downloaded Sackboy recently, had to get the PS4 version because I don't have more than 2 Dualsenses (thanks Sony), but there are two PS4 versions and I have no idea what the difference is between them.

The web store search is utter shite, there are loads of things missing from it especially the old BC stuff - I remember struggling to find Tokyo Jungle and Marvel Puzzle Quest amonst others.

That PlayStation Stars thing just became available in Australia. Anyone bothered? I can't say I've taken any interest in it after the intial announcement of it being available in the UK.

It’s alright. Not enough opportunities to get bonus points. Most you get are going to be through purchases. The little shelf with the collectible knickknacks are kind of pointless. GamePass still has the best rewards system, and Nintendo’s is second best. But this is better than nothing, I guess.

It better get some sort of update for PSVR2.

Sony haven't been great with keeping the news high on the agenda, but to be fair to the news sites you can find a list quite easily. Push Square is usually decent for news: www.pushsquare.com/guides/all-psvr2-launch-games

Yeah, watching DF and they're, as am I, baffled at to why Sony have done next to no marketing for PSVR2. It's really weird as it's got some genuinely amazing tech in it but they're acting very secretive which is kinda how Sony has been for a while now.

I would be inclined to wait a fair while to see if Sony bother supporting it. They pretty much left the first one to die and with the high price point this time they may well do the same.

It's a bit catch 22. They are waiting to see if 3rd party Devs support it I suspect, which will lead to greater promotion and take up. The high price point is screwing them though.

It is, but it's their product and they need to support it from the get go. Its such a high cost of entry (but not unreasonable for the quality of the tech) that people need to be able to see value down the line. Currently 30 million ps5 consoles out there, even if one in 30 bought one that still makes a top selling game only sell a million if everyone bought it (they won't). Its probably launched too early in the playstation 5 life to get the traction it needs.

It was as well supported as any of these things seem to end up being. I don't think VR in its current form will ever be anything but an expensive oddity for enthusiasts to tit about with.
I'm still fairly tempted though. It'll be interesting to see if GT7 is just the full game. If it is it should mean getting full releases converted to run on it should be fairly easy which will no doubt help with support.

I’m going to go ahead and say that they can’t manufacture enough of the things to cope with projected demand, even if that demand is low, coupled with it being a very expensive device with a particular early-adopter audience who they think will seek it out without them having to spend millions on advertising hype. They probably learned some lessons from PSVR 1 about the challenges of promoting an experience without the experience (like selling HDR to people via a video) and are taking a go slow on it, see how the early shipments sell, then build hype out of the launch once there’s actually games on the thing in the lead up to Christmas. Or they’re just random. Probably just random.

Until the wanking helmet is the size of a pair of glasses you can just leave on the couch and pick up like a joypad, inertia is always going to be its biggest problem. If people cant be arsed to stand up and change the disc to play a different game, fucking around with all the rest of that shite is going to make sure that even if people do buy it, it stays in the cupboard.

I think the biggest problem is that for most people playing it for 30 minutes will leave them feeling like someone has took a shit inside their soul for the next 3 hours. At least until they get a got 20 hours of use under their belt.

I really enjoyed the VR1 mostly, but it wore off as well. I think it was the lack of support and there not really being anything new to play on it that was a killer, must have game after the first year or so. I think the last thing I looked forward to was Moss and that was OK. After that, nothing really made me think of getting it out again.
We've played Blasters of the Universe a couple of times when we've had relatives' kids over, but otherwise, it's gathering dust and I'm not buying the new one (as much as I like the new controllers) until it's certain that it'll get a decent set of games.

I feel like a big part of that has been removed with a single USB-C connection and controllers that charge the same way (or with the cradle). A big issue with PSVR1 was that it was a shit to set-up, especially charging the wands as they required a cable that wasn't supplied with the console. They're PS3 tech. That's all basically removed now, and it's essentially the same as picking up a controller and headset, like you would for an online shooter. *I'm one of the people that now objects to changing discs as I've been digital only for almost 2 generations and I won't have issue with this set-up. Not to say it still couldn't be easier!

My breaking point will be whether the Half-Life game comes to it. Then I will definitely buy one and then let it collect dust in the corner.

I think that for a lot of games, VR suffers from the uncanny valley - it brings you closer into the game only so you can see its limitations more clearly.
For me, it's always been a fun curio and different way of experiencing a virtual world - and one that I might be in a good position to spend £500 on - but I don't envisage I'd spend hours playing in VR. Rather, it's something to dip into every now and then.
That's the biggest barrier for me - very few can afford that ratio, when a whole PS5 VR package will stand you a grand.

Can you play standard games wearing the headset? Wondering whether you could do GoW in normal third person just with a screen strapped to your face. Or maybe the head tracking essentially replaces the right stick of the pad, for example.

3rd person games are odd. Like you're a giant god controlling a little puppet.
