The reviews didn't look great but I might give it a whirl after all, thanks.

Looking forward to the same titles getting the same discounts as in the last few years.

I wonder if there are specific deals between publishers and Steam/etc. that dictate the maximum discount a game can receive, or if each discount is agreed upon separately.
There are games that never went below 35-40% off despite being super old at this point.

Flashback free on GOG. The new smoothing fliters look a bit naff imho, but I'm pretty sure you can turn them off. I think it even has some feature to make it less bloody difficult than it was originally. I've had this for decades... but I'm not sure I ever bought it. ahem. So at least now I have a legit copy.

I paid exactly one euro for the Switch version. Worth it tho. The controls take some getting used to, but I think it aged fairly well... much better than many of its contemporaries for sure. This new version gives you an optional rewind feature, but is otherwise the same as the original. And yes, luckily the filter can be disabled.

Wonder if this sequel will just disregard Fade To Black.
I mean Fade To Black was janky and awful so they probably should ignore it. Just curious.
I'll have to play the new one before i can pass judgement, I'd rather it was another 2D rotoscoped affair, but that's the times I guess.

It's mocapped, but yeah, I agree. F2B was shit though, awful tank controls iirc.

While F2B is pretty crap now, I think it deserves a little slack given it was a very early attempt at 3d 3rd person gameplay. A lot of games were struggling with how to adapt to 3d controls at that point.
I mean it's pre-Tomb Raider, pre-Quake, pre-Mario 64. It came out around the same time as Dark Forces and Hexen. And Bioforge... which was awesome at the time, but these days also comes across as a very clumsy attempt at 3rd person controls.
But yeah, it was a pain in the butt to control.

Ah, there were dozens of filled polygon 3D games long before it; Starstrike, Driller, Sentinel, Star Fox, Zarch, etc. It was probably the very first third person shooter though. Or at least until I think of one. And if Zarch doesn't count - and that had mouselook, albeit from a fixed perspective.

Yeah, there were also flight sim and racing games, and probably things like Virtua Fighter or Virtua Cop. But it was definitely early days for full 3d 3rd person games.
1st person, but Robocop 3!

If you want to get super pedantic, the first full polygon shooter from a 3rd person perspective was I Robot from 1984 or so. If you want to narrow it down to something more prescriptive like a human figure walking around an environment, it’s probably Hunter from 1991, which was way ahead of its time in multiple areas.

There's about 30 free games on Amazon's Prime Gaming at the moment in the lead up to Prime Day. Some of them require you to redeem them on Legacy Games (no idea)

Hunter is one of my games of all time. Probably where I got my tendency to make my own fun in an open world now I think about it. Didn’t DMA do something similar on the N64 a few years later?

They made Body Harvest where you're fighting an alien invasion. Open maps and snatching vehicles make it feel a little like a precursor to GTA 3, but I don't know how much influence it actually had on that.

Fall Guys has gone free to play on Epic should anyone fancy it. Kids will be happy. They've been pestering me to get it for ages. It's also free on Switch, etc.. and I assume it has crossplay? I guess it just depends on how aggressive the monetization is.

Yeah, free on the whole shebang. Someone mentioned the switch version having lower frame rates for other players but regular for your character, which would feel like nails on a chalkboard to me (like those rabbits when you leave Trostland in Destiny 2... Argh!)

I saw that and said "no thanks."
Did redeem the GoT PRPG though.

Iratus Lord of the Dead next week! I missed the Darkest Dungeon chat in another thread but this is Darkest Dungeon Lite - they do a great job of taking away the attritional elements so you can zip through it. Well worth playing.

I don't think anything on my wishlist has gone down from the previous 10 sales.
