The Amazon Prime day game deals are live (here at least) for 1 day only. Mass Effect Remastered Trilogy, Some Racing Games (NFS, Grid), Some older star wars games, plus a bunch of indie games.
Not currently a member, but considering it as it'd be worth it just for the mass effect and star wars games.... but then again I won't actually play them, just add them to the pile.

I'm quite looking forward to trying the new Grid, actually. Seems to have a decent single player mode to meander through when I can't be bothered to play anything taxing.

Redeemed them all, but Grid won't show up in my Origin library. Should I just wait a bit, or hit support now?

They made Body Harvest where you're fighting an alien invasion. Open maps and snatching vehicles make it feel a little like a precursor to GTA 3, but I don't know how much influence it actually had on that. Was the same devs. DMA Design released GTA1, then Body Harvest and then GTA2, and were then bought up by Take Two and became Rockstar North.

I know, that's why I brought it up, looking back at my post I guess I could have been clearer about that

No idea if that's fixed yet or even related.

I think when I finally get on my pc for some gaming I might have a look at ME, I've never played it as it looked shit. My tastes have changed since then so it might just be my next best thing

Personally I played about 2hrs of Mass Effect 1, hated all the characters and never went back to it. But that's probably just me. I suspect if I'd gotten past that initial dislike then it might have turned into something I loved, as on paper it sounded like just my kind of thing.
I'd love a KotoR remaster though. I think one might be in the works.

I wouldn't fancy coming to ME1 as a new player now. It felt clunky as fuck even back in the day before they improved on the shooting in the sequels.
@bill_(ButNotBob) - yeah, it's in the works but haven't heard anything for a while. PS exclusive IIRC.

I was playing the ME remaster recently. The first game holds up reasonably well, it's not the best in terms of action but its absolutely fine.
I just recommend using the Adept or Vanguard as their powers are a lot of fun and frankly overpowered. The more straight shooter classes... Eh, it's fine. But only fine.

Yeah, it does show in the Origin app. Guess I'll use that. I know the EA app is still in beta, but you'd think they would at least get account linking working very first thing.

New giveaways on Epic. Wonderboy and some idle game that I ignored. Next week doesn't look super exciting either. I'm obviously spoilt now.

Anyone want a GOG code for Warhammer 40K: Chaos Gate? They were giving it away for free a while ago but it turns out I already had it.

Dunno if I should put this here or in the general bargains thread. (thoughts?) Not free, but the Humble Summer Break bundle is a pretty good deal if you have young kids. www.humblebundle.com/games/outright-games-summer-break[edit] oh, and if you want games for kids, you should probably grab the current lego bundle too

EA made some DLCs for some of its games free, especially Mass Effects and Dragon Ages. You need to log in to either their website or Origin app. I've only tried to "buy" DLCs for Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age Origins. It works, but one has to buy each item separately.

The new Twitch Prime games are out. Starcraft Remastered is among them. I wonder if it could be a good entry point for someone who's a total noob at RTS?

Not sure how remastered the Remastered is, but StarCraft is fairly archaic now. It is pretty fiddly and doesn't have any of the niceties of many modern RTSs, such as automation of some of the worker activities and a limit of only being able to select 12 units at a time. Much of those things the fans will hold up as why it is great and leads to the high skill ceiling, which is true, but also makes it not very welcoming.
Having said that the single player is probably not too demanding of reaching those high levels of play and for free you might as well check it out.
Alternatives, well there isn't that much really in the modern world. StarCraft 2 is one of the few that is in a similar style and is certainly more welcoming. Age of Empires 4 is quite enjoyable, although also goes for a very old school approach in basically being AoE2 in a modern engine. Company of Heroes games are really good and regularly very cheap.
Literally just downloading Northgard, which is part of the Steam survival sale, which I hear is good.

Psh, modern RTS, when SupCom has still not been surpassed after 15 years?

Literally just downloading Northgard, which is part of the Steam survival sale, which I hear is good. It looks interesting in some ways, but I did get the impression that the production chains and such were comparatively simple. Not sure how much of a focus that is though. StarCraft 2 for me mostly has the issue that while it has been a lot of fun, every time I get back to it I quickly start to feel that I'm wasting my time trying to get better at something where the general level of competition has reached ridiculous heights. Even the clueless people often have good mechanics, as regularly evidenced by Harstem's "Is it imba, or do I suck".

Doom 64 free on EGS for Quakecon.
Still waiting for some Quake 2 news... meanwhile, achievements for Quake Champions on console have been spotted. I wonder if that game is even still alive on PC.
