Venetica is free on GOG. Never heard of it, but the user reviews seem mostly positive and it seems to get compared to Fable 1, with a bit of PoP style combat. PS/ SEGA'S virtual arcade is also in the Gigabyte range, because of the 3d room interface rather than the games themselves. The novelty wears off pretty quick for the 3d interface.
PPS/ Oh, and for me the big Epic news is that Supraland is free next week! Supraland is amazing, get it

Those games are actually kind of fun. I got one in a humble bundle years ago and give it a whizz on some stormy sunday and it wasn't shit.

The game looks pretty good, though I could do without all the booby-anime-girl cut scene graphics.

Yeah, I think the oppaichan art turns people away, but they're surprisingly good Wonder Boy-style action games, and pretty much the reason Wayforward got so much work during the 360 era.

Shantae games are great. I don’t mind the boobies so much.

I never mind the boobies unless they're the flappy ones.

There’s none of them flappy boobies in Shantae.

How do you claim Shantae in GOG.com? I click on a giveaway link, which takes me to another link, which then takes me back to the original page. I'm looping between two pages, neither of which seem to have the link to get the freebie.

I had the same issue with another giveaway. Think I just used desktop view instead of mobile in my browser.

Yeah had to fart around a few times. Think the server is sluggish so be patient.

If you're logged in, scroll down on the front page and there's a button to claim it.

I had some trouble trying to claim it the other day. The button didn't work on the webpage or in gog galaxy but worked a few hours later when I tried again via the website. Maybe it's an issue at their end?

Daggerfall is on GoG now.
Basically still the same engine for Starfield.

Daggerfall Unity is also available for free anyway, but I suppose this GOG version is pre-setup and stuff.
That game had some ridiculous dungeons. I love exploring dungeons, but holy crap. If you go too deep into one, chances are you are never coming back out. The in-game map is simply not up to the task.

Yeah, so it was pretty slow to load, but got it in the end. Had to wait a minute or two for the section to load further down the page.

The map was fiddly, but the real problem was logic connecting those pre-made parts together.

The GOG one is called Daggerfall Unity - GOG Cut and they seem to have gotten a daggerfall expert or two to basically prebundle it with a curated set of mods to make it more accessible, look better and avoid some of the bigger pitfalls that existed in the original. It looks pretty tempting tbh, especially the proper mountains and lighting. Though I do kinda miss the pixelated sprites, which look kinda retro now. It looks like it has a pretty good options menu though, so you can probably turn those back on if needed. Did anyone else play Daggerfall like Assassin's Creed? I'd run across entire cities just from rooftop to rooftop.

It's just popped up on HotUkDeals, loads of EA stuff (Mass effect legendary, Grid Legends, NFS Heat, some Star Wars stuff, plus one game a day for two weeks, i think)

Prime is a lot cheaper here than in the USA or UK (it's 36 euro per year), I'm surprised we get the same free games. I'd subscribe anyway for the shipping and Prime Video, this is just icing.
That said, I guess at some point they will have to increase the price for us too. Hopefully not anytime soon.

Beatiful Desolation is now free on gog. Another one I've never heard of. Looks a bit like a modern Fallout 1/2 game.

Oh, really?!? Neat, thanks for pointing it out!
Edit: It's by the south african brothers that made Stasis. That Dead Space/Event Horizon-esque isometric point-and-click.

I really enjoyed Beautiful Desolation, the setting is quite unique too. I Kick-started it but it is definitely worth a play if you like post apocalypse stories. It isn't combat orientated at all and is more of a point and click puzzle RPG, had a few niggles but nothing too major. Quite a few branching story points too.
