Just the remastered versions of the first two. This is the full set, no? "Experience the award-winning BioShock series. Journey to the cities of Rapture and Columbia across BioShock Remastered, BioShock 2 Remastered, and BioShock Infinite: The Complete Edition, including all single-player add-on content."

Weirdly, no free games appear for me on the EGS, as of the last few days.

Oh you're right, I overlooked it on the library page.

Seems I was logged in, but as a Russian, and Epic have now banned Russians from receiving free games.

Rather happy to get the full 3 Bioshocks. Loved the first one, but somehow never quite got around to the other 2, despite nearly pulling the trigger on Infinite a number of times.
I know it's not supposed to be as good, but it looks like a fun enough ride at least.

I wasn't a huge fan of the main Infinite game, but the burial at sea expansions were pretty cool.

I'm pretty undemanding when it comes to FPS games. As long as it's an interesting world and looks pretty...

Same here. I'm a total content tourist with FPS. As long as it isn't actually broken or way too hard, I'm happy.
I am the only person I know who enjoyed Bioshock Infinite more than the others.
For me, the first was a victim of it's own hype: no way that could have lived up my expectations. Infinite I wasn't really expecting much of and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I liked Infinite most too. I think Rapture is much more breathtaking a world, but the writing in the first game was terrible. It thinks it's much cleverer than it actually is. Infinite's story is more compelling, and the gameplay's improved quite a bit as well.

Exactly!
There certainly seemed to be an element of the emperor's new clothes about the writing in the first one. People were raving about it but when I started playing it.....really?

The writing praise came after I think. All I remember is the vibe, the water physics, the Big Brother AI and that opening half hour. Then it was System Shock 2 basically all the way, and I loved it.

The third game was OK. But the rails mechanic was bolted on bullshit, and the linearity was far less forgiving in a non submerged setting. One of the more tedious examples of trudging through a game just to get to the end for me. Moments of class, but not many.

Bomber Crew is claimable for free on Steam again now until June 2, the issues people were having with claiming it seem to have been resolved.

I didn't really enjoy Infinite's combat that much, it was basically just one combat arena after another. In that regard it felt a bit too artificial.
Obviously the first Bioshock had the same basic structure. Move into new area, kill bad guys. Move on etc. But the way the arenas were constructed in Infinite felt a little too obvious. And I found the number of enemies a bit tedious at times. It also felt a bit more twitch combat focused.
I haven't played it for years, so I could be misremembering, but I remember that's how I felt.
The most fun I had in the original game was with the op twat-people-with-wrench build.

They way you put it makes sense why I never considered getting it even tough i liked b1. With b1 it felt like you were the invader. The enemy are there doing their thing and you are trespassing and getting into fight with them. Prey has similar feeling. With infinite it always felt like "ready to rumble", with everyone just waiting for you to reach certain are for fighting. They did not originate naturally from exploration of levels and progressing through story.

I remember the demo of that being on a magazine cover disc, either PC Gamer or PC Zone. Found it quite entertaining, though I never got around to playing the full game. Until now!

I think I tried some demo as well, but only got to the full version much later. Good point-and-click. Some areas are better than others, but overall a pretty unique, memorable experience.
Wolfenstein: the new order is epic's freebie this week.
Thanks for pointing it out! After Bioshock Inifinite that's another one where I have never been sure if I would be able to enjoy it.

Holy crap, the install is almost 2gb. What are they packing in there, E. Honda's nappy?
ed: Oh, it's a full arcade interface. Most of it is shite, but I might get Progear at some point. Like I don't already have it on Mame.

Venetica is free on GOG. Never heard of it, but the user reviews seem mostly positive and it seems to get compared to Fable 1, with a bit of PoP style combat. PS/ SEGA'S virtual arcade is also in the Gigabyte range, because of the 3d room interface rather than the games themselves. The novelty wears off pretty quick for the 3d interface.
PPS/ Oh, and for me the big Epic news is that Supraland is free next week!
