The youngest made it home safely last night and insisted on walking in this morning too, even though I actually have to drive past the school at the exact same time irrespective of whether I'd have to give him a lift or not! I daresay once he gets soaked/freezing cold walking to/from school he'll lose that enthusiasm, a good start though.
Despite an absolutely awful first 5 months or so of the year with regards to our eldest's school attendance/behaviour etc he was up bright and breezy for his first day back too, to say were relieved is the understatement of the year in our household!

Our youngest's first day back at school today, we've cautiously let him walk home, am now tracking his every move on Family Link .... I love being able to track now that they are a bit older....I don't do it obsessively, but it's good to know where they are sometimes. Like at 5am when they've been out clubbing, good to check they aren't at the bottom of the Clyde or in the nick! It's reciprocal, so they can see where we are too. It'll probably be better when they've left home and I've no idea what they are up to. But when you are expecting them home at some point..... Eldest was at the Spurs game last night with his grandfather....good to wake up and be able to see they had got the train from London successfully and he was going to make it into Glasgow and make college in time.

My middle one is 6 tomorrow and has her party on Saturday. She had a bug a couple of weeks ago so hopefully she is immune for a while. Just hope we can get her there.
Talk about bad luck!

Dare I ask where they got the spurs tickets from? I would quite like to take my lad there too. They are his English team. Re:tracking, now our lad is raking about over town and going out a lot at weekends with his mates at long last the missus has been doing a bit of that. Especially if they're going into the nearest city for the day. I think it gives her a bit of piece of mind, but she need to check a bit less and learn to trust him. I've been hoping he would get out and about hanging around getting up to minor mischief (I hope!) after covid seemed to knock him back a bit, although the house now seems too quiet.

His grandfather is in the Spurs fan club thing - you get early access to ticket sales and stuff. It's really hard to get tickets for games for non-members/non-season ticket holders these days - we were looking to combine a trip to London in the October school week with a game, but couldn't get any.

Iāve only been able to get tickets through my one Hotspur membership. Even then I had to wait and get them on the ticket exchange. You might be able to get tickets for a cup game on general sale if you get lucky and itās not a prem team.
Membership is about Ā£50 (adult) and a little less for junior.

Yeah you need to be a member to be able to buy tickets that go on general sale, but also to have another member transfer a ticket to you. Once youāre a member thereās quite a lot of ticket exchanging that goes on via Twitter which is probably a more fruitful route to getting a ticket from general sale.
Thereās always the womenās team as well which is a much more accessible way to go and see Spurs. They even play some games in the main stadium.

So do you only need one membership for that? I assumed I'd need one and the lad would need the junior one too so we could both get tickets. It seems a bit of a lottery and not much chance to necessarily get a ticket on the occasional opportunity you can go. Even more so when you want two tickets beside each other! May just have to take a chance on of the other ticket sites and hope the tickets work, although I know spurs and all the clubs frown upon that. It's a shame getting hold of tickets is difficult for fans from further away, but when you have a lot of fans, I guess that will always be the case.

AFAIK you HAVE to have a customer number so you can receive tickets electronically. I donāt think there are any paper tickets issued now.

I assume they would be e-tickets, but who knows. It's a PITA either way. May have to pony up for the club membership then. Any idea if we'd both need one or would one be enough to buy two tickets?
If we went a few times a year, it wouldn't be an issue, but for just once in a while...

You both need a membership unfortunately. You can link the account so you can buy on their behalf to get seats together, but you both need a membership number.

This whole tracking your kids thing is new. Ours grew up before they were tracking their friends so we just had to worry they were dead in a ditch. All of a sudden constant surveillance is normal. God help people in controlling relationships.

Bless her. My wife is similar in that when she starts throwing up, she cannot stop. I absolutely dread those spells...she was prescribed some antiemetics when she had vertigo/BPPV/Labrinthitis. They have been a godsend for all the other times she feels sick!

Nightmare. At least sheās got something to help though.
Thing is, itās only really at night, and she can go 24 hours plus between bouts. Itās strange, but at least itās not constant I guess.

Well after a horrific few months beginning in December (regarding our eldest's school attendance) a mixed week on the parenting front, youngest (9) has been fine, by enlarge, on Monday the eldest (13) announced he wanted to walk (partway and for the first time since last year) with my youngest and then they have to split up, turned out, after I rang the school to check he'd not registered so had to drive home from work with a massive knot in my stomach dreading the day/week ahead, goddamn anxiety (his)! Well somehow (and for the first time ever) I was able to get him to attend the afternoon session, what a result/relief. He attended every day this week since then so (as agreed about 3 months ago) he finally got his laptop back (screen replacement).

Ach well. We got a few good weeks of high school from him. Today a few wee cunts from his class decided to follow him home shouting names at him. Just had him on the phone and I told him all the usual stuff (don't let it get to you, don't react, they'll get bored in a few days etc) when all I really wanted to tell him was "grab the ringleader and smash his dull little fucking face off the nearest wall".

Had exactly the same last year, it's really hard not to suggest resorting to violence. Still get a bit of it but seems to have calmed down a bit since we moved him tutor groups.

Aye. We just involved the school where appropriate but tried to let him sort it out if possible. Kids are shits. Hopefully as they get older and they all mature, this sort of thing lessens.

Our eldest has had a gut full this year, the little cunts even say shit to me to try to get a rise, Amen to saying violence is never right but wanting to smash their heads in!

My sonās 11 and just started secondary school, and yeah Iām terrified of how heād cope if he got bullied. Heās small-ish for his age and not really into roughhousing or physical sports, I do kind of wonder if heās an obvious target (I was at his age)
Weāve had the talk about how violence isnāt the answer, but I have to admit, I did say something like āif someone really hurts you, youāre ok to fight backā.

This definitely happens. Our lad was barely wanting to go out for a year or two post covid, now he's never in at the weekends. Turns out he was getting pissed off with all the trying to be 'alpha' one-up manship of some of their crowd. Now they're all mid-teens, that's pretty much all over and they're nicer more mature human beings. As human as teenagers get at any rate... Now we just have to navigate the minefield of the exam years. š±šš

Iām hoping mine never get bullied as I never had a problem with bullies so itās a but harder to relate. The one time another kid did try anything I need them in the nuts and they needed stitches, Iād rather not suggest that approach.
