Ach, it has its ups & downs, ours is occasionally showing signs of emerging on the other side into less self-involvement & some degree of sentience.
I hope so, at any rate! 😀

The early primary years are quite fun. Lots of exciting times ahead for them.
Lots of shitty nativity shows for you though. I don't miss those! 😀

First high school transition day was a resounding success. He now declares that he can't wait to start after the summer.
Awesome.

I liked sports day. Apart from the races with other kids i didn't care about in them. 😀
I always had to do the dad's race too. That was fine until some older brothers were allowed to run it. Who were training at the local spfl fitba team- give us actual dads a bloody chance, eh?

Happy Father’s Day everybody.
May you get a lie in and breakfast in bed, or whatever else you fancy.

As we're away for the weekend, I suspect it won't quite be a feet up day for me! I have been promised bacon though, so there's that. Eldest is still asleep, youngest has ran off to play so at least I have some peace and quiet.

I’m off to take my daughter on her DofE practice hike this morning. She’s all kitted up in my rucksack, compass, camo hat etc. She looks like a proper explorer. The wilds of the South Downs will be tamed! She got me one of them sofa arm caddies where you can stash your tv remote and controller and stuff. Perfect!

I've noticed the rapid onset of "dad bod" in the past few months!

My lad is still abed.
I am reading the Sunday paper in peace & quiet. It's present enough! 😉

Happy Father’s Day everybody. May you get a lie in and breakfast in bed, or whatever else you fancy. Wife strolled in from a night out at 4am, fair play to her she still got up with the kid, let me sleep in until 10:30 and I had breakfast in bed. Can't argue with that. Off for a Sunday roast at the pub shortly, then round to my dad's to see him.

Will need to get the boy up early tomorrow. Fountain pen would probably work best?

So took my eldest lad (12) around to a friend's house tonight, after about half an hour I got a call to say he'd been sick and could I collect him, of course I could and jumped to it and thank fuck they had wooden flooring and not carpet, all a little bit weird frankly but he's been laid up ever since, on top of a week where he missed two days of school due to 'feeling sick' and was apparently bullied big time today at school (we only found out via another parent) it's all very odd.

There are a load of bugs going around. It’s almost the worst thing about kids.
Our nursery told us there have been two cases of covid this week, my first thought was who is still bothering to test and bothering to report it to anyone.

I think my eldest daughter has passed her fear of spiders onto my youngest daughter, and it makes me angry and frustrated even though I’d never hold her responsible for it. The youngest, who is 6, was fine holding small spiders and releasing them in the garden as recently as 2 weeks ago. Now, after a couple of incidents where the oldest (14) freaked out about a spider, the youngest is also freaking out if she sees one.
We may have made some progress this morning, I took a spider out and she watched me release it from the other side of our back door. But it’s definitely a step back, and I was hoping she’d like creepy crawlies as much as I did at her age.

Yep, my youngest never had any fear of spiders or other murky bugs, now, every thing freaks him out just like his elder brother and mum! 🙄

Agh, the boy has got COVID again. Apparently there's an outbreak in the local primary school this week. And he had a school trip planned tomorrow too!

Me and Mrs Shark had our early scan today. Definitely a baby. Everything in the right place and one little heartbeat.
Still feeling a bit dazed by it all. It's feeling more real now but instead of falling about the place in tears of joy I'm just gradually starting to cut off non-essential subscription services.
