PC2 just isn't great with a wheel imo. GT Sport should feel a lot better. And once you drop the rotation on DR2 is should feel great. Also the latest F1 game is a lot of fun.

I did drop the rotation for DR2 and yes it was a lot better. Still shite but at least I know it's my driving now and not the wheel fucking me over.

There's a pretty steep learning curve with everything. Once you properly click with DR2 it feels amazing though.

Some people have it on the clutch but I've never been able to get used to it.

PC2 looks the part but the team who made Auto Mobilista 2 used the same engine and made the game play a lot better, especially after the latest patches. More Brazilian content as thats where the devs are from but its my preffered sim to put people who visit on first.

I bought it last night as it was cheap on cdkeys (£7.99) i also got AC for a fiver and was pointed in the direction of config manager for mods etc.

You can get lost for months with mods for AC, my instal is a bit bloated now but worth it.

AMS2 and Raceroom are probably the best for relatively 'plug and play' experiences on PC. AC and iracing need a fair bit of tweaking to get set up correctly. AMS2 is my go to 'demo' sim for guests because of the pretty graphics but the audio on Raceroom is absolutely amazing and really draws you in as well.

I have to admit AC is a fucking pain in the arse getting content manager sorted. Mainly the controls. It's a damn shame you can't control the menus with the wheel. Moving forward that's going to be a pain in the arse for me and will put me off the game. Maybe I can get a mini keypad/touchpad combo to get round this.

The Logitech K400 is pretty much the official keyboard of simracing. Cheap, solid, works.

I've developed serious T300 envy and now I'm sat with one in my basket. I'll be playing GT7 for the next 11 years if it has the content of previous entries with the free time I have, so might as well do it properly.

I think Thrustmaster are releasing a direct drive wheel soon. From memory, it'll be PC only, but it might lead to a load of second-hand wheels hitting ebay and bargains to be had. There are lots of second hand Fanatec CSLs around now after their direct drive launch last year. I got my stuff from Fanatec on black friday (the only day they have sales from what I've seen) but I picked up a cockpit second-hand from the race department forum. Worth keeping an eye on as it's mostly it's well looked after gear sold because people upgrading rather than battered tech flogged by weary parents after their kids lost interest: www.racedepartment.com/forums/sim-racing-marketplace.66/

Also pedals make more difference to laptimes than the wheel to laptimes. Highly recommed load cell brakes. I have the entry level Fanatec CSL pedals with the load cell kit and it's a night and day improvement from my old logitech bundled ones (G25). So much more control and it just feels natural. You do need a solid pedal deck attached to your chair though, as you need to apply a lot more pressure.

Really enjoying the playseat and T300 combo. Very comfortable and just feels great.
I notice rfactor 2 is on cdkeys for £2.99
Worth a punt?

Obvious answer is yes, I bought it for a similar price and have played it roughly three times but for £3 you may as well. It currently has the worst UI known to man but that is being replaced by a long-awaited update tomorrow.
Pros -some of the best FFB -very good handling -a reasonable selection of included content (plenty for £3) -updates are still being released so it's still a live platform (althought they aren't regular)
Cons -A lot of the most interesting content is paid DLC that is rarely discounted (Le Mans and FE for example). -The actual way to purchase and add DLC seems needlessly convoluted -It's easily the most faffy sim I've tried to get working. Maybe the new UI will help but frankly it has to, the faff factor is largely what's put me off. -Apparently, there are some weird setup exploits which if you race online kind of undermine the physics engine.
I think it's a no brainer at that price, even if you park it, for now, pending more updates.

Cheers. I may as well buy and as you say, can park it if I find it a blag to setup.

Turns out the UI update is actually out now so you've been spared the old version entirely. Quick review here: youtu.be/65XmzToFEocDoes look a lot better.

Are there any good stand options for a couch potato wanting to use this T300 I'm about to order from a sofa? I think if I get a proper seat at the same time I'll never hear the end of it at home.

Weirdly, the seat will be definitely be the difficult part to swing with the Mrs rather than the wheel. It'll be a month of tutting and comments under the breath about it taking up too much space, before I strop upstairs with all my stuff into the spare room.

Whenever my wife comes home and I've got my toy steering wheel out in the front room and I'm sitting on my little fishing chair my wife usually has to have sex with me right there and then. Won't even let me take the driving gloves off.
