I'm hesitant to take the plunge on WRC 10 as I've already got 9 and not sure how much different it's going to be. I'm a lowly controller user but the haptics on the ps5 controller were really well done I thought. Plus this has the McRae Impreza which I'm almost buying it for anyway. Can someone tell me it's not worth getting before a slightly boozy buy tomorrow basically. They've improved the physics, added a few new events, and apparently massively improved how the older cars drive. I'm going to wait a month or 2 though as there's still 2 of the newer events that haven't been added yet

As someone who is a total noob to this scene but always fancied getting into it where on earth do I start with steering wheels?
I’ll mostly be playing in Xbox on f1 2021, would prefer a f1 style wheel as opposed to a standard round one they all seem so bloody expensive.

Logitech G29 or Thrustmaster is as good a place to start as any, it's where most people start, can be both PC and console compatible depending on the model. Only round ones sorry to say. Your looking at the more sim type ones for formula styles, Fanatec and the like
Not sure of the prices in these chip drought times. Prices are a bit crazy these days

I picked up a cheap Logitech G920 in 2019 and wish I bought the Thrustmamster T300 or xbox version, mainly for the pedal upgrade I did later buying the T-LCM, just no options on Logitech pedals and they got fluff and dust on the potentiometer and need cleaning when used a lot.

Yeah I've had a T300 for a few years now and it's still fantastic.

Turned on iracing expecting my $10 payout and found $34 instead, because all my content was bought March 2020 onwards I'm getting refunded when they patch in a new updated vehicle. Rebought my Ferrari GT3 and left the Porsche 911 Cup as I didn't get on with that championship at all.
I must have spent £15 total this last 24 weeks on the service and have 2 new road tracks and the new Hill Climb in that time.

It confused me as well when I went to upgrade, "giving me a Porsche 911 for free iRacing? whats the catch" Shame I am so slow in it, I will stick to Skippies and USF and maybe dip a toe in a Cup race from time to time.

Skippies I run mostly and get the rest of the race participation credits from GT3 Fixed, been hovering around 1800ir with highs of 2400ir.

Reached 2000 for the first time to end the season on a high, expect to be back to 1700 before long, especially if I run Skips at LimeRock first race. Carnage, I hate the place.
Try USF, great car, basic tracks, I don't run the 3 ovals, wish the races were longer, but tons of fun, like a faster Skippy.

I love the graph on the driver page, got way too stoned to be consistent. The slight jump before 2021 was the load cell pedals.
The final dip is my socal life starting back up.

I've gone back to ACC following the 1.8 patch and it's a significant improvement.
The force feedback is so much more engaging and natural now. Performance is also supposedly much better although I never had any real issues before.
If you own it and haven't played it recently, give it another go.

I’m hoping the new Xbox version coming out in February will be more in line with the PC version. The FFF is pretty weak in the old gen edition sadly.

Looks like it will do the job. Heh, once you start falling down the rabbit hole there is no escaping. I am pretty well set for the future with all the gear I have shelled out on...Just need a better GPU, oh and £1000 to buy it *replying to comments from the page before, DOH!

The 1.8 patch for acc is indeed great, catching slides is a lot more fun now. If you drive regularly I can really recommend joining a league, makes it a lot more fun driving with the same lot of people.

The DLSS I want to try on the next free weekend, I just couldn’t get it to run as good as other games.

I gave my CSL DD a go on the PC last night having only used it on the Xbox up until now. Can recommend not playing Beam.NG with the force feedback all the way up if you've got a damaged tendon in your hand…

Also bought AMS2 in the sale having heard the latest 1.3 patch fixed a lot of stuff. Spent about 3 hours sorting out my triples though.
Initial impression is that it's very pretty with some cars and tracks that are right up my street. I love classics and was having fun at 70s Kayalami which is just mega.
The FFB or sounds let it down though. You don't get the same sense of front tyre grip that Raceroom and ACC offer, nor are the engines as throaty and visceral. Still needs more work to be properly immersive but the ambition is there.

That is the time period that got me into Sim Racing with Grand Prix Legends, 1967 I think that was set in. No advertising no wings, just mad bastards driving around in a missile shaped fuel tanks, with no seatbelts.
Ran several seasons of League racing with UKGPL many moons ago, which I think is STILL going.
iRacing is descended from the people who programmed that game, if they were to get the rights and build a GPL season with all the cars and tracks I would just hand them my credit card. Sadly can't ever see it happening. Not really a fan of a field full of Lotus's running around as it is currently.

Sadly can't ever see it happening. Not really a fan of a field full of Lotus's running around as it is currently. Basically same for me. Graduated from GT, Toca 2 and F1 on the PlayStation to GPL in 1998 and never looked back. Have never really find another racing sim I like as much. My first online race was in GPL around 2000 and a proper international grid of real drivers basically felt like witchcraft. Spawned a fascination with the era for me and I've a sought out bootleg copies of the 67 races and gone to watch the cars be raced at Goodwood and the like. I'd love someone to properly try and do another dedicated classics sim. I just love the simplicity of old cars, mechanical grip, big engines and analogue controls. I'm same as you regarding the iracing lotus. I'm not willing to pay through the nose for a field of Lotuses on modern tracks. I would pay £100 for a new GPL though. AMS2 has decent potential to be the go to classics simulator. Does seem like they care about that era and nice that they have some classic track layouts. Period Spa, Nurburgring and Silverstone are dlc. Best classics I've found in a modern sim are the 90s DTMs in Raceroom. Just amazing fun. Again, pity the aren't 90s track layouts to race them on though.

A sim racer who basically went from exports to Euroformula to testing F2! Pretty amazing. It does really feel like we're close to sim racing becoming a viable alternative pathway to karting and Formula Ford, F4 etc.
Genuinely might get a full-time F2 seat next year, the rung below F1. I know Max and Lando have plenty of sim racing pedigree as well, but they were still 'proper' racing drivers first and foremost and did the traditional ladder thanks to bank of mum and dad.
I'm still not really into watching Esports but the legimacy this give them is very cool and pretty unique to motorsport.

Assetto Corsa Compitzione is only £11 on PS Store at the moment, and you get the free upgrade to the PS5 edition in feb when it comes out.
I think the PS4 version is meant to be a bit dodgy but hopefully the PS5 version will be more stable. Seems a good price though.

Have just looked at that. Getting on for £40 if you wanted the DLC with it. Had at look at GAME who seem to list a PS5 day one edition which is about £35 but only containing one DLC pack.
I know Id just want all that DLC (FOMO maybe)

With these games I find it important I own them digitally as I return to them over years (like GT Sport) and they’re often played amongst other more typical single player games. Having to not swap the disks means I’m more likely to dip in and out.
Away at the moment but excited to try this when I get back. I’ve watched a lot of YouTube races on ACC and they look great. Not got my rig out in a while so it’ll be a good warm up for GT7.

The British GT dlc for ACC is probably the best in my view but it's all very decent and fairly priced (on pc at least).

Would encourage anyone who hasn't got it yet to pick up AMS2 now. The base game is under £10 at Cdkeys and the DLC is at historical lows in the Steam sale. The developers deserve support for continually making improvements and adding content. In most cars, the handling and FFB are now on a par with Race Room and ACC (i.e. as good as you'll find). It's all very easy and faff free too. Stock setups are generally pretty sensible, I've had no crashes or outrageous bugs either. All just works.
Currently doing a Brazilian F3 Championship and the Dallara F309 is superb. Nimble, predictable and can be steered using the throttle and brake as you'd expect. The lesser known Brazilian tracks are decent too. Lots of imaginative elevation changes and challenging corners (Interlagos is representative of the others). The 90s Indycars from the US DLC are great as well, chucking them around Long Beach, brushing the walls is so immersive.
Ranked multiplayer and a single player career mode supposedly coming this year.
