I really do like this a lot. Seriously though turn enemy outlines off. It doesn't make it much harder and massively improves the look and feel of the game.

Yeah turned them off for my session last night. Better. That third mission on Chapter 2 is brilliant but I got melted right at the end. I love fighting the synths though, quite satisfying when they go boom. Also, nice getting revenge on a certain type after Alien Isolation as well. Really like how they tie this in to all the other Alieny stuff.

I love that it wasn't afraid to allude to Prometheus. It's pretty good overall fan service IMO up to now.

I'd honestly love it if that stupid hybrid thing out of Resurrection showed up at some point.

This has really killed what little hopeful enthusiasm I had lingering for Back 4 Blood. Does a better job at the same thing, cheaper and in a universe I already quite enjoyed anyway.
It really comes to life after a couple of missions and you've unlocked a few bits. It's actually a fair bit better than I hoped it would be to be honest.

The correct pulse rifle onomatopoeia is *PRREEOOW*, for future reference.

Solid-SCB- My thoughts exactly. It's really rather good for this type of thing, and it's perfect for picking up and just doing one or two missions. Mechanically it's sound with some very satisfying shooting. The aliens make a nice satisfying crunch and I like all the sub-types. When it all kicks off and you're seeing dozens of them stream down pillars and across the floor to you, nothing beats it if you're any type of fan of the franchise.

Yeah the fact they've nailed the feel of the gunplay is the big thing for me. I've always had a soft spot for horde type shooters so one set in the Aliens universe was always going to appeal, but it really is a mechanically fun game to play. I imagine it running at 60fps is helping a lot too.

There's always some intangible satisfaction factor in shooters I think is kind of tied to how weighty it feels and this passes the bar easily. I'm absolutely loving picking off as much of a wave as I can with my rifle, stopping as many of them scuttling off the walls and ceilings as I can before switching up to my shotgun when they eventually break our lines of defence.
It doesn't feel a million miles away from Gears of War to me, just it's a touch lighter which really helps with the enemy types and overall smoothness. It's really very good.

I really didn't want to pick this up just yet, but you're all doing a great job of selling it to me. Found it for 25 quid on PC. Seems rude not to pick it up for that price

I'm just gonna throw this out there, feel free to disagree if need be.
But I think it has the best flamethrower of any game. The look, the sound of it going off, the fire effect and the damage. *chefs kiss*

What class uses the flame thrower? I'm still the gunner as I'm unable to give up my pulse rifle. It just sounds so good. Plus I've unlocked a variant that's more, eh, pulsy.

I think you'd be able to get it for the gunner. It's the same class as the shotgun.

I've been using it for the engineer class though. You get a chitty pistol but the turret you get is great. I really do miss the pulse rifle though.

Game really comes into its own when you've got a team spread between classes. That healing station thing is ace, and if you've got someone running turrets as well as a gunner it creates such a perfect balance. Really is a great little game.

What format are people mostly playing this on then? I kinda thought it was gonna be shit, but if it gets the Regulard Seal of Approval I might have to give it a look.

PS5 for me. I can definitely see it having some legs trying to finish the harder difficulties. The different classes are really well balanced.

It's not, it's the same sub class as the shotgun. I've got it for the engineer now.

Can you play with people on PC with an Xbox?
Also, when are the Aliens cast coming in DLC?

Resolve crumbling... somebody give me a significant negative quick. It's got lots of rough edges. Characters have voice acting but no lip sync. The visuals look like they could have been from any game since 2000 and are nothing special. Matchmaking seems pretty hit and miss. The controls and handling aren't great imho despite what some have written above.
Honesty, if this wasn't ALIENS then it'd probably fly under the radar.
But it is ALIENS so buy it you pillock.
