You guys make me sad I missed out on the vest that Rancid had in their store for a couple of years that is now gone. I only just checked because your posts.
And So Long and Thanks For All The Shoes is an absolute gem of an album, I don´t recall liking it as much as I do now.
Must be all the live shows I have watched on youtube filling in the gaps. And another gentle reminder that Fatties podcast is the best out there, granted I only know of his in the punk sphere.
Any others I should check out-

I still wear my trusty leather jacket. Got it second hand from a charity shop when I was 22. So I've had the fucker 20 years now. It's been thrown on more bar floors and corners of stages than anything else. Used to have a ton of patches on it but they've all fallen off over the years and I've never bothered to put more on. I'll grab a pic.

I sometimes think The Damned are kind of overlooked. I mean just generally, they never really caught the wider public eye like The Clash or The Sex Pistols (even despite John Lydon's attempt to dismantle the bands already slightly-shaky credibility).
But this was released in 82, and I think it's up there with the the still kind of nascent US hardcore scene in terms of energy. I just think its interesting to draw parallels between this and, say, Bad Religion as I feel there are similarities.
(that the rest of the album didn't quite match the openers speed or ferocity and instead kind ambled around different moods and textures is a fucking huge PLUS, not a negative)

Been listening to fair bit of thrash and crossover thrash recently. Thrash itself owes a massive debt to punk, but crossover of course lies somewhere between thrash and punk.
Anyway, on this journey I've been taking, I've learned that Iron Reagan are bloody good. Bit of a supergroup of members from other crossover and metal bands, and it feels like it skews more towards hardcore punk than a lot of the other crossover stuff I've enjoyed, hence when I'm posting it here and not the metal thread.
It's amazing.
