Some random drunk thoughts. Since I live under a rock mostly it seems I have just properly discovered Get Dead. Welcome to the algorithm. Somehow I missed that The Interrupters dropped a Live in Tokyo album last year. It's almost a perfect Interrupters greatest hits album but somehow doesn't feel right. Not live enough for a live album. Reel Big Fish are underrated. As are Mad Caddies. Frenzal Rhomb still hold up quite well. Check out Dad Religion on youtube. And finally give The Bennies a listen to. Also while I'm here does anyone know the actual reason Rancid will never tour Australia? It's Brodie right? RBF must be the band I’ve seen live the most. They always pop up in support or on festival bills. Only been to maybe 3 of their headline shows. Always good though. Mad Caddies Rock the Plank is a gem. I saw them sometime in 2001 at what was the Astoria 2. I got smashed about all over the place in that pit. Even with Chuck having lost his voice they were great.

I saw RBF in 98 at Warped and to be fair back then I would of been one of the ones who would of underrated them, but yeah they are a thoroughly enjoyable band who have a solid output. Definitely appreciate them more these days. Never did see the Caddies though.

Would love to have gone to Warped in late 90’s. Always wanted to go and finally got to for the last tour in 2018. The lineups back then were so good and the skating/bmx scene was really involved.

This was the one, pretty good line up. I remember it being hot and dusty. Well that is the Melbourne poster but there are a couple for the Gawler one but it wont let me post the image. Still pretty much the same.

I went to Leeds Festival 99 and they had a Vans Warped stage with Ice-T, Pennywise, Blink, Less Than Jake, Suicidal Tendencies and a bunch of other stuff. That was pretty great for me at the time.

On the one hand, Animal seems like a bit of a twat and some of their later work gets s bit icky with some "banter" that verges on homophobia.
But this particular tune is a banger and I can't pretend otherwise.

Too young, I only really know one song of theirs tbh but It's a cracker. "Know your product" - Midnight Oil do a brilliant cover, which is how I got introduced to it.

ecosse Arguably, their best track. It has a companion track, too... No, Your Product I know the Midnight Oil cover and it's pretty good, too. The Saints first two albums - (I'm) Stranded & Eternally Yours - are both absolutely excellent rock and roll records and they should have been much bigger.

The times for Slam Dunk. Glad I can see Electric Callboy and The Vandals without them clashing.

I could happily stand at the Dickies stage right up until about half 8.

Used to really enjoy slam dunk when it was at Hertford Uni, have been a couple of times since it moved but it’s just not the same.
That said, this years line up is decent. I would really like to see Chunk No Captain Chunk as their album last year came out of nowhere and is incredibly good.
But yeah I could keep myself entertained by bands all day easily with this years line up

Nova Twins would be a must see for me. Though they clash with Sum 41.
Not going so it's a moot point, though I really should try to get to something soon.

I could happily stand at the Dickies stage right up until about half 8. Seconded, especially if the Murphys still have Jen Razavi from The Bombpops touring with them.
Sum 41 on the other hand, can get in the sea and stay there.

Seeing Dropkicks regardless in 2023 as their tour this year was postponed so hopefully she's at either gig! Was a BIT suspicious though as Interrupters were the support act and now both are playing Slam Dunk... Reckon they were offered a shed load of cash to play SD instead.

Yeah I'm seeing them next year as well. Was meant to see them back in Feb this year. You could be right about SD.
Bombpops are very much a guitly pleasure of mine for eh, reasons. And also because CA in July is a banger.

Too hot to sleep, so I went down to the only marginally cooler garage, and did some work on my jacket.
Started life as this plain black jobby, although with two years of every day wear and tear on it now:
I went over part of the left shoulder and sleeve with a blue acrylic paint pen as a base coat in the areas I wanted it to be the strongest. After that had dried, I masked off parts of it that I wanted to stay black, and went over the blue again with a can of spray paint and left some bits deliberately messy, and a circular blob of spray on another area ready for a patch to go over.
Unfortunately, peeling the masking tape off also took a small amount of the jacket outer layer off with it as well;
Fortunately, I had a solution at hand:
After a small application, it's done a fairly good job of covering the lines:
I'll wait for that to dry overnight, then do another round with the shoe polish to tidy it up a bit more tomorrow, then a coat of spray varnish will be in order over the painted areas. Then will come the next stage:
Still waiting on the Naked Raygun patch to arrive in the post. Conveniently, there is a tear in the lining of the left sleeve (that I do not remember doing, at all) that'll make it easier on me when I apply the studs to the blue shoulder. Not sure if the white acrylic pen is going to be too thick to scrawl lyrics on it the way I want, might have to resort to a thin paint brush for that. Still, considering it's the first time I've done anything like this I'm pleased with how it's going so far.
Had this on at one point while working on it:

I hope so. If I had the means and skill to airbrush, I'd go the full Dave Lister route:

As we're posting clothing posts, I put together a strange punk/metal (slightly more metal bands represented) vest over the last year. I might not ever actually wear it as I'm nearly 40 and frankly don't go out much, and it would be weird to wear it to just do the groceries. And because it has no respect for any musical boundaries I wonder how any punks or metal heads would react. But I think it's pretty cool and I'm considering making another vest just as a hobby.
