I like watching live recordings. Both new and old. Found this nugget of joy from an early Screeching Weasel concert
Then there's this fantastic Refused song:
So much energy. Kids today etc

Or this classic where Kurt Cobain gets into a fight with a bouncer on stage during a concert. To be fair, it looks like the bouncer tried to get Kurt back on stage and Kurt was an asshole about it.

Sometimes get the impression that ska-punk is seen as kind of dirty because some of it was shit, but there was some good stuff in there. You can probably blame Propaghandi for that.
They were pretty young then and I'm not sure they're entirely comfortable with some of the Clean Everything songs... but they do a point about a lot of it, though. It isn't fair to say all 3rd Wave Ska is terrible, but there were a lot of terrible bands who jumped on that bandwagon. I love Propagandhi.

The follow up album "less talk more rock" was a total classic and had a massive influence on me politically. Also love their more recent stuff which was definitely heavier than their earlier output.

Yeah, same here. For me they're the rarest of things. A band that just seem to get better and better. And Johnny Samson leaving didn't hurt them, somehow. I love both of those records mentioned. I adored Today's Empires when it came out. Then Supporting Caste, Failed States and Victory Lap, which might even be the best of the lot. Fucking amazing live, too.

This is really a good podcast and this one in particular is a great watch if you like the Suicidals or have read about the LA punk scene/gangs. Mike's familiarity with these guys enables him to get some absolute nuggets out of them and you know tongues were held. This podcast is more deep diving than it originally seems as it's basically bants and memories across what I have heard so far but what it touches on is at times grim.
And it's Mike, he is doing it on purpose but it's punk gold. The ending of the Danny Way one is brilliant. Watch them all or listen if you can or think it may interest you. My punk scene growing up was not theirs and I'm not sure I'd have survived it.

Iβve watched some of Fat Mikes podcasts. Need to catch up on the rest. Mike can be an asshole but doesnβt really pretend to be anything but.
If youβve not already done so can highly recommend reading the NOFX book The Hepatitis Bath Tub. That shines a light on the scene in the 80βs and early 90βs

Hepatitis Bath Tub is great, I'm pretty sure the audiobook version is on youtube which the band members themselves voice. Plus they revealed some stories for the first time to their band mates in writing that book. It's a pretty heavy read.
I just finished catching up on the Fat Mic podcasts last night. They are all really good and the Sean Whalen one is a pretty odd interview but interesting and the one with Talli(Nubs) is well worth the watch. Mike can be an arsehole but it's generally when he's trashed, he's pretty clued up otherwise. But yeah both the book and some of the interviews give a good insight to the LA punk scene back then and Mike does seem to be on good behaviour so it hasn't been overly arsehole Mike yet.
Another worth watching is all the Backstage Passports which shows them on tour and just how risky playing some of those places are coupled with them being totally fucked up. Kent the MAN-A-GER is gold and as big as a degen as they are. It's a miracle that a) they are all still alive and b) they manage to still be together after all the shit they put each other through.

Mike (and the rest of them) have never really been fans of political correctness or saying the right thing, but they've always been earnest and willing to admit that they're twats, sometimes. I saw Mike do one of the Cokie the Clown shows, which was a real eye opener about how he really feels about everything and varied from being weird to downright unsettling. His pods are worth a go. /NOFXFanboi

Oh yeah, Cokie is a grim bastard for sure, that show got him banned from SXSW. I'd love to see him interview Ben Weasel or Chris or Jord from Propagandhi but think that will never happen.

Haha, Cokie the Clown vs. Glen Lambert. Supposedly, it's now come about that the SXSW "Urine" thing was a stunt and it actually wasn't, but man... how to alienate people who like you, Mike. Jeez.

Well you'd say it was a hoax too if the health department were on your back about it. But that whole show, bloody hell.

The Punk in Drublic documentary is on YouTube. That sheds a bit of light on the fallout of the Vegas incident

Having a (probably passing) notion to go to Rebellion.
Mostly the usual bands but there's a few outliers, Gary Numan, Levellers, Pop Will Eat Itself are on the bill.
But then it costs 200 quid plus hotel cost so I doubt I'll bother. Maybe next time.

I love their first 2 albums, beyond that I struggle which is a shame but they definitely moved away from those early days and make worse music now. Same with Screeching Weasel, first 3 albums are great. I guess Ben being a bit of a prick doesn't help either.

I don't think I've heard anything by The Night Marchers since "Closed For Inventory" was on the soundtrack to NHL 2K9.

That track (the vid, not Closed) is from the second album in 2013 but they haven't released anything since. He's been busy with reforming Hot Snakes and Rocket, running Swami and his radio shows. Oh and playing with Me First and the Gimme Gimmes π

Some random drunk thoughts.
Since I live under a rock mostly it seems I have just properly discovered Get Dead. Welcome to the algorithm. Somehow I missed that The Interrupters dropped a Live in Tokyo album last year. It's almost a perfect Interrupters greatest hits album but somehow doesn't feel right. Not live enough for a live album. Reel Big Fish are underrated. As are Mad Caddies. Frenzal Rhomb still hold up quite well. Check out Dad Religion on youtube. And finally give The Bennies a listen to.
Also while I'm here does anyone know the actual reason Rancid will never tour Australia?
It's Brodie right?
