Unsure if this will get much traction as it's not really as popular as metal,but I've been getting back into punk recently, mostly spurred on by getting the Conflict box sets.
It's just encouraged me on to go through my old punk collection. A lot of its shit tbf but some of it is amazing.

Crass and the Dead Kennedys honestly changed my life. I missed out on punk due to me being 4 years old in 1977, but when I hit late teens I started hanging around with all the punks from my local town, who would share stories of seeing the Kennedys at the UEA in 1982 for £3 etc. Saw a few great bands in the early 90s, highlights being MDC in Cambridge, and Godflesh (yeah I know, not technically a punk band) in Norwich on my 21st birthday
Got a "Fight War Not Wars" Crass logo tattoo that I still absolutely love

I'm genuinely surprised by how well Rancid have held up. Spent a good fifteen years not listening to them and now have came back probably like them even more now.

Punk (well, more specifically pop punk) is back in fashion these days. So there’s not been a better time to dig out those records!
I’ve been listening to a fair bit of old school skate punk/hardcore in preparation for Slam Dunk in a few weeks.

Really like all of their stuff too, but probably go back to the first album most often. |

I was at that Cambridge MDC show too, think I may still have the t-shirt somewhere... I think it was at.. The Boat Race? They were really good, I bought a t-shirt that night but it bit the dust years ago. Wish I still had it. |

Yep, was The Boat Race. Had some cracking gigs there over the years, long gone now though, think they turned it into a wine bar or something.

Ha! I used to have a MDC album yonks ago- the millions of dead cops one.
Seen a jello-less dead kennedy's a few years back. Unsurprisingly, not the same without that voice.
Not quite punk, but i still have a *lot* of love for Fugazi, even though they are allegedly on 'hiatus'.

More of a indie-ish pop-punk feel but also fiercely political. One of my current favourites of any genre.

Saw The Evens once too. Was too young to catch Fugazi, but fuck I would've loved to see them live. Up there with Unbroken, HHIG and Born Against on my wishlist.
Anyway, I've been smashing a lot of Career Suicide lately. Always loved this fast, punky style hardcore.

I doubt you'd have heard of us, only released a couple of demo tapes and played a few gigs around Cambridge. We were called Smyle at the time. We knew the promoter and he just needed a couple of last minute local bands as support, so we got the opening slot. |

I only really 'collect' records from either Planes or The Appleseed Cast. Wondering what's happening with the frontman Gared - he got esophageal cancer, was declared clear, then it came back. Met him a few times and he was kind enough to let me get in touch over FB, but it's gone alarmingly quiet since it returned. Same fucking cancer my partner's Dad has contracted for the second time. |

As are The Appleseed Cast, another favourite of mine. Went to The Fest about ten years back and it was pretty great, would love to go this year as they're both playing, but don't think that's on the cards.

Ah, good news if Planes are there, fingers crossed. Managed to catch them live over here year before last, absolutely brilliant gig. Been a few years since AC played over here, but they never disappoint either. Think their last LP might be one of the best since Mare Vitalis, but they've never really put a foot wrong for me. |

Haven't been to Rebellion for years, thing last time I went it was 2007. I enjoyed it a lot but the lineup seemed to be fairly similar year on year (though weirdly in 2007 Slade and The Animals played, so they have some outliers).
Definitely got an interesting collection of folks, from squat dwelling crust punks, middle aged folks reliving their youth, skins, punks, and everything in between. Fairly friendly for the most part.
Been listening to the be Turnstiles album, using hardcore as a basis it flies off in different directions frequently. I like it.

Turnstile are absolutely outstanding. Seen them a bunch of times, and have tickets booked to see them at Outbreak Fest next year.
