Currently in the Lakes doing a bit of walking - not sure anyone goes rambling/hiking. Was staying in Great Langdale and all I could think if was Death Stranding - the environments are so similar I felt my rucksack was a courier delivery.😀
Did a bit if Helvelyn (not via Striding Edge) but was misty.
Such a stunning place.

I’m not a rambler but I walked to the top of Arthur’s Seat yesterday
That’s a nice walk with a nice view

But did you have a foetus in a pod strapped to you? Tbh, when I saw the thread title I thought it was going to be about zombies...

We were up there recently, lovely part of the world. Walking around Buttermere was particularly nice

I recently started playing Pokemon Heartgold with a Pokewalker, and now I feel the need to walk everywhere. I'm working from home today and am seriously thinking of popping out for a walk after lunch.

Wife got me into walking and spent a small fortune at Decathlon getting boots, coats and bags. No walking poles though... not a chance or brightly coloured coats for that matter and don't ever suggest a map in a plastic wallet hung round the neck with string.
Anyway a list of the ones I have done: Snowdon – Ranger track Ben Nevis Falls Of Clyde Cat Bells in the snow probably our favourite! High Cup Nick, not that great I thought. Mam Tor HighForce waterfalls HackFall Wood Ingleton Falls Malham and Gordale Scar Pendle Hill nice little village Kinder Scout Scafell Pike Macclesfield forest Delamere forest Over Exposed Crash Site Hellvellen from Swirls Car Park

Nice selection there. All on my 'to do' list. Am near Ingleton as well and am toying with going up to Inglebrough - just one peak as doing the 3 peaks will just ruin me. My local stomping grounds are the Cotswolds with forays into the Brecon Beacons/Black mountains.

This might be of interest to you guys beta.slowways.org/"Slow Ways is an initiative to create a national network of walking routes connecting all of Great Britain’s towns and cities as well as thousands of villages. Using existing paths, ways, trails and roads, people can use Slow Ways routes to walk or wheel between neighbouring settlements, and combine them to create longer distance trips. It’s designed to make it easier for people to imagine, plan and go on walking journeys."

Used to do a fair bit of hiking. Mostly in mid-North Wales, find Snowdon a few times, Cader Idris, various hills and mountains.
Would usually go with my dad, but now that he's getting on a bit can't really do anything strenuous. Been tempted to just go for a few hours by myself but I'd almost certainly end up being one of those under-prepared types who trips and breaks an ankle in the middle of nowhere.

Another good website to have a look at: theoutdoorguide.co.uk/britains-favourite-walks/We wanted to do walk number 17, Whitby to Robin Hood’s Bay North Yorkshire by staying at a place on the coast between the two but Covid trashed that plan. Got a refund so no money lost however.

Spent last weekend humping around Tryfan and the Glyderau. I like to spice it up a bit with a little more scrambling, so I can get more use out of my climbing gear When it's a little easier to travel, I'm looking to walk the tour of Monte Rosa.

My local stomping grounds are the Cotswolds with forays into the Brecon Beacons/Black mountains. We've done all 3 (not on the same day though). Personally I'd go for whernside if you're planning to just do one of them. Most impressive view and best walk imho.

Oh, that looks amazing! Judging by the reviews, it sounds like you need some proper orienteering skills to find it.
Never really got the point of walking by just following paths, I mean, I do enjoy a stroll through a forest, but having to find your way does seem more interesting.

Spent last weekend humping around Tryfan and the Glyderau. I like to spice it up a bit with a little more scrambling Finally did Crib Goch recently, with my youngest daughter. Once it was over she was itching to do some more scrambling so we decided to have a look at the north face of Tryfan, with the intention of turning back if it got too much. Visibility was pretty bad but by tagging on to a few different groups throughout the day we made it to the summit pretty quickly and then over to Bristly Ridge. No equipment required as this was all grade 1 scrambling, but hairy enough in parts, especially climbing up to the top of one of the pinnacles instead of taking the path through Pinnacle Gap. Keen to do a proper course now to safely tackle more difficult routes and learn to use some equipment.

I used to do loads of hiking, and was actually leading groups as a side job a couple of years ago. Really need to get back into it.
Very few things best that sense of achievement when getting to the to of a good peak, feeling like death and then forgetting all the suffering as you take in a spectacular view. 😁

Does Geocaching count? I went and did this yesterday. It was nice walking around the woods looking for small camouflaged tupperware containers and logging our finds... along with eating my own bodyweight in blackberries.
I'm surprisingly achey and tired today though.

Any recommendations for a lightweight pair of walking trainers?... Mainly for long dog walks (90% on paths) in drier weather plus a bit of pavement action on my office days (45 mins each way) Don't necessarily need to be waterproof. Good air circulation would be more of a priority.
I got a pair of Columbia Men's Woodburn 2 but ended up sending them back as the colour didn't match the images at all. Felt nice and comfy mind you so I might try a different colour of those.

It's worth trying them on, because everyone's feet are different, but I love their footwear. Comfortable, robust and long lasting, in my experience. You joke, Danno , but I used to know a guy who was a fairly serious runner (up to and including marathons) and he used to swear by those sort of things. But they do look a bit... odd.
