Halo Infinite

Anyone else feel like they perform disproportionately better in some modes than others?

Slayer and Stronghold are games I tend to do really well in, but I suck at Oddball and CTF.

Teamwork definitely helps. It's weird how some people think they're better off going it alone.

Are there any quick communication options? Without voice it would be neat to tell your fireteam to head to A/B/C et al.

Does anybody know if you get anything from buying the game other than the campaign? Like, do they give you the first Battle Pass or anything? I imagine the answer is no but you never know...

I feel like offering some additional thing beyond the Game Pass release would be cool but it may be antithetical to Microsoft.

Well since posting I've checked out Amazon and it's just a steelbook edition with no reference to anything special, bar some pre-order bonuses. Which is a bit of a shame. I miss those stupid Legendary Editions with their crazy statues.

Played a few matches this morning. Surprisingly, won all of them - no thanks to me though.

I get the feeling that the maps are a little too large for 4v4. Engagements don't come around as often as I'd like. Maybe they would be better if they moved to 6v6 like Destiny eventually did.

Whilst I am really enjoying this, some (a lot) of the challenges seem to be flaky. I have hijacked at least 6 vehicles since I got the challenge to hijack one and it never unlocks. Same with some of the weapon ones.

I'm at a point where I have 4 very specific weekly challenges now which I probably won't be able to complete. They should have kept the play a match to 100xp.

Always time to tweak though.

Any ideas what time the campaign will release on the 8th? I have a day's leave left so maybe the 8th, but maybe the 9th would be more useful.

In two minds about blasting the story on heroic to avoid spoilers then replaying on legendary and taking my time with the side stuff too.

Enjoying the Fiesta mode as part of the event. Good way to try more weapons out and get some of the weapon specific challenges. Managed to go up two levels last night in about 5 or 6 games. Of course, that will slow down now as it will be 'Win 3 games for 100XP' etc but coupled with a XP I could have really maximised it. Think I'll be having a few more games of it tonight for sure.

They should at least chuck in a few sets early game with some colour ways so everyone doesn't look the same. Hopefully the campaign will chuck a few bits in as rewards.

They have said they will look at it though and I hope they do, the 50xp per match isn't nearly enough. They should be back after their week off shortly though so we might get more news then.

The progression is poor, though better than launch already and will continue to improve.

The assessment that you’ve “unlocked absolutely fuck all interesting”… well, it’s Halo. They’ve never rewarded you anything interesting for rank progression. It’s not and has never been a game built for it because it’s an arena shooter. Everything is available in the game, they’ve got nothing to give. If you don’t like shoulder pads and breastplates and visor colours you’re shit out of luck. It’s the weakest part of the game, especially compared to current competitor titles.

I found out today you can do some of the challenges in bot matches. As long as it doesn't say 'in PvP' you can get the challenges there.

You can't actually do 10 levels though can you? I completed all the challenges and I'm at level 6.

They probably should have just allowed you to keep getting event challenges and capped you at 10 or 15.
