Blue_MikeDid you hand Songbird over to the FIA, perchance? I did. I didn't regret it. Everyone's using you in the entire game. That person's emotional manipulation was off the charts and the sheer amount of people I killed in their name left quite a bitter taste when they levelled with me.

JambowayohThat's fair. Part of the reason the ending hit as hard as it did was the fact that there were no 'right' or 'wrong' choices - no black, no white, just a sea of grey. I think the branching paths in Cyberpunk play out much more organically than they did in The Witcher 3, although that may be because I'm still bitter about getting locked into the 'bad' ending of Blood and Wine because I didn't read *every single entry* in a freakin' diary.

I thought she only found out it was a one time thing when she actually got to see it in person after the crash? So before that she really did intend for you both to be cured. After the crash, she was committed anyway. She comes clean in the end and doesn't have to, so she clearly genuinely feels bad about lying to you
Besides, it's Reed who recruited her as a child and trained her to be that manipulative. She's only using what they taught her to get free and it's exactly that life she wants to get away from
I haven't seen the other side of it but I got the impression that Reed felt like So Mi belonged to him and acting like he cared about her to trick you into helping him is gross. That mask starts to slip a bit as you near the end
As for the amount of people killed in her name, the same goes for V. How many people die so a thief can live? Start counting from Konpeki Plaza

V: "How long've you known this? That only one of us could come out alive?"
Songbird: "Cynosure - I learned it existed, started delving, and--"

Unless I'm missing something (always a possibility), doesn't that mean she knew all along?

Even still. I think there are striking similarities between V and Songbird. In the end, considering everything, my thoughts are: good for her

So... I'm almost at the point whereby I need to pick an ending. Any non-spoilerific tips?

I don’t have Phantom Liberty, but I’d say, go with your gut. Your chosen ending is always the best ending, even if it’s not the happiest.

Thanks, Spooky.
Trusting my gut doesn't usually work out well for me - or anyone else, for that matter - but at least this is just a video game, and I can always reload a save if I fuck up royally. Would that I could do the same in real life.
To Valhalla! (Well, Mikoshi, I guess.)

I ended up asking Panam for help, so now I'm hatching a plan with the Aldecaldos. I don't feel great about dragging them into my problems, but it seemed like the best course of action open to me.

I’ve considered buying it. But it feels like every time I redownload the game and play it, I like it less and less. Might just get it some time anyway. Maybe it being a new story will revive some of that old love for it.

I’ve got it queued for download. 💀
Maybe I’ll mop up some of the NCPD alerts and see if I want to pick up Phantom Liberty.

Six hours into a new playthrough and impressed so far. The main story is easier to follow now that I'm more familiar with the world and plot. Cars feel a bit better to drive, and I really like the new perk trees and skills. Went with the Johnny Generic male V as I want to romance Panam. Yes the male voice acting is inferior but it's not that bad. Going to go for a katana based build I think. Have tried a few side activities which I didn't touch on my first run through, they're pretty good aren't they? Short but decently written and they flesh out the world a bit more.
God, Night City looks incredible and is just amazing to explore. Even the out of the way places are full of detail and atmosphere. I have as much fun just walking/driving around as I do playing the story and missions. Is it me or is there a greater variety of NPC appearances now than earlier on?

The city looks amazing even in daylight. Every time I open the game, I think about how good it looks
The gigs are great and you should definitely do as many as you can as long as it doesn't impact your enjoyment of the game overall. Some have really cool little stories and unique characters. I ended up doing every single one of them on my first playthrough
One of the things I really like is that you earn XP for completing missions and nothing else. So you can go in, focus on your objective and complete it however you like, then get out again. Gigs never felt like a chore because of that

I got back into this over Christmas. Got together with Panam, and just started Act 3. Don’t think I’ve paid much attention to my build, or chrome. I’ve stuck a bunch of points into Cool and go around headshotting baddies with a jazzy pistol I found in V’s stash.

I did 3 of the Phantom Liberty endings and the one that the lads are talking about on the last page is the one I went with as canon, it was the best imo. Although initially I betrayed Songbird once I had seen those endings and went back and betrayed Reed, I preferred the outcome. I still do feel that Song doesn't really deserve the trust you need to give her for me to make that choice in isolation. She gamed you from the start, never seemed trustworthy and I never believed her as opposed to Reed who was at least more up front about not being able to be trusted! I went on to finally finish the main campaign after and it's amazing how different the endings are there too. I did 3 (the shortest one and two which branch from a similar end point) The difference in the all three was huge. In some ways the shortest ending was one of the most poignant for me. Bizarre that there is no achievement for it as I think it's a proper legit way to end the game. Edit: Lol missed a whole page of posts and updated my own for a bit more clarity.

I tried a bunch and I decided the ones I stuck with were Songbird and Panam. They fitted in with how I felt my V went about life. She was a rogueish streetkid, but always stuck by family and friends. So: So Songbird may have messed her around, but I reckoned my V would rather help someone that ill out and then see what comes her way for curing herself. Then the Panam ending is the only one where you stay with your love interest / friends to try and face up to what's going on with V. Rather than prioritising glory.
