I closed my account with them years ago and got an email from an actual human asking how come when I had such a sweet collection of games. Still closed it though
Why are their forums like that? Aren't they moderated?

No idea if they're moderated nowadays. Several years ago where things started noticeably turning they really weren't moderated at all. The insidiousness crept in, really, mostly through their karma system.

I didn't know people actually used their forums.
Anytime I've been there, it's been all troubleshooting "why won't my game load?" posts.

I was kind of disappointed that I never got to see the infamous T-posing. Never fear, a streamer has you covered. Just posted today:

Sometimes you've got to be happy with how you've spent your money without needing affirmation from absolutely everyone else about it. You accuse me of gaslighting and then you tell me that I didn't enjoy a game I played? Sometimes an avatar with hairy lips is Solid Snake, sometimes it's just some cunt.

Ouch. Like yourself, I was also there when Good Old Games first launched, though Iโll have to admit I never really engaged with their community/comments section (other than searching for support, mod, config performance hints in relation to getting older games to play on modern systems). What happened there, then? Still waiting on some old school adventure classics which weโll probably never see again: Ripper and Black Dahlia, to mind but two.

Thanks, but I really meant in-game with my own eyes. Like spotting a celebrity in your own neighbourhood. Iโm otherwise aware that it exists. Still, the time my car launched into space and crashed into a skyscraper was pretty epic.

So now you're telling me that the direct quote is 'not what you said' and that this then confirms that I am the one who is 'weirdly ultra defensive'. It couldn't be just that I had a different subjective experience with the game, no - I have to be gaslighting you specifically. Interesting how you automatically reach for language relating to abuse when someone mentions that they enjoyed something you didn't.

What direct quote you utter mentalist? I said sometimes you've got to be happy with how you've spent your money without everyone else confirming the fact for you. Not that you didn't enjoy the game and are lying about it. I even drew a comparison with a game I liked which got panned on a wider scale in a similar manner.
But again, it always comes back to aggression with this game for some reason. I guess 7-8 years is a big investment of excitement for something to just be meh, but still. They don't need bullets taking for them.

I cut my teeth being told non existent AI in a AAA game wasn't a problem back on the stone tablets of OG Eurogamer. Don't test me!

No, I respect someone who's not afraid to stand up for their beliefs and say a game is shit, especially in the dedicated thread... ahem

Out of all of the games that I've acquired through slightly grey to practically pitch black methods, the 1999 RUB I spent on this is definitely the one I feel least guilty about.
Surprised that there's still anybody willing to defend CDPR at this point.

I sympathize more than anything. But the "DON'T YOU SAY BAD THINGS ABOUT MY BABY" stuff will always get a hearty 'lol' when the game was released in such a shoddy state.

Yeah. I liked it, but it's Deus Ex with Skyrim level combat and bugs. Launch Skyrim, at that.

That's it basically. Dues Ex with a city with worse open world mechanics than GTA3 tagged on.

Having played GTA3 recently. Part of what's made it age so incredibly poorly for me is stuff like cars disappearing when you pan the camera around.
In a game from 2020 it's shameful.

Yeah. I liked it, but it's Deus Ex with Skyrim level combat and bugs. Launch Skyrim, at that. Skyrim's combat was pretty weak, as was Deus Ex (all versions) actually. Bug-wise it wasn't anywhere near as bad as launch Skyrim on PC, but much worse on consoles. Also it's got patched about 100x more than Skyrim literally ever did, for better or worse. Witcher 3 also has shite combat. I know people love to pretend it doesn't, but it's absolutely awful. It improved slightly with patches, but's floaty awful nonsense. It surprised me that people were expecting CDPR to suddenly get good at combat. I'm trying to think of an open-world RPG that didn't have utterly shite combat. Fallout 3/NV/4 is godawful (4 had better shooting mechanics but the package as a whole was worse than the worst shooter published within 10 years of it). All the TES games are bad. All three Witcher games are bad at combat. Never played Kingdom Come: Deliverance, but people sure said it was shit. Even non-RPGs like GTA have ghastly combat. I guess open-world shooters sometimes do okay, like Ghost Recon: Wildlands/Breakpoint, I mean, they're not great by shooter standards but miles better than these lot. 2077 is slightly better than most of those, in that you have a bit more control over what's happening, and less annoying things happen because of bad controls and so on, but it's still not actually good combat. Getting wired reflexes or whatever they're called instead of the hacking thing makes it less shit, but still...

Meant the bugs. The combat was stayed the same throughout, yeah.
Best open world RPG combat goes to Dragon's Dogma, IMO.

KC:D had....interesting combat. It reminded me a lot of the old Die By The Sword game, where directional swinging actually mattered. One on one duels it actually works really well, but it's done in such a way that if you're taking on more than one enemy at a time (which is most of the time) it boils down to generically swinging away like it's Skyrim only worse.
For what it's worth the combat in Mount and Blade is superb.

Yeah Dragon's Dogma proves good open-world combat can exist, just no-one else wants to really even try.

Ghost of Tsushima has by far the best openworld combat I've played.
