I know what you mean, but I really like Constantine being in the DCU. His vibe when butting up against superheroes is very funny.
Also the bit in one of the early Sandman issues when he meets Martian Manhunter is really good.

Not as drunk, not as chain smoking, not as Liverpudlian and generally not British feeling.

It'd be so funny if it was a critical and commercial hit. That would be a great twist.

I often forget that original Aquaman made over a billion. I wonder how much of the fall of DC movies is down to audience apathy, dislike of the brand or not giving a shit because the brand is being rebooted. I feel like the general audience don't really know/care about the upcoming reboot and it's more to do with apathy with a good mix of how shit DC movies have been.

I often forget that original Aquaman made over a billion. And the movie that set it up was a widely derided turd but It was one of the last movies I saw where the theatre was completely full. A lot can certainly happen in five years.

Everyone says Aquaman 1 is pretty good, and yeah it made a ridiculous amount of money, but I really can't bring myself to care enough to watch it.
I pushed myself to watch some of the other DC movies because they had the big characters, but there's just nothing pushing me to watch Aquaman 1.
It was on TV the other week and I couldn't even be bothered to watch it.
And I even bothered to go to the cinema for The Flash. *shrug*

The first Aquaman is one of the most entertaining films in the DCEU it's utterly bonkers and knows it.
There's some of that in the sequel but not quite enough, although the opening monologue from Arthur is a good start.

I’m sure the pandemic and rise of streaming services have just made most people decide they can’t be bothered with anything that isn’t pretty well hyped or is getting extremely good reviews. Why waste £15 each on a ticket for a mediocre film when it’ll be on streaming in a month or two.

I think people have had enough of superheros for now. And the connected universe's are just a bit of a slog now.

This is very much the tail end of superhero films. Nearly 25 years - not bad.

All of them need a kick start and bump up in quality, there’s been too much mediocrity since around Endgame. Not everything before was brilliant but every couple of years there was something that was either very good or a bit different.
They’ve recently turned into CGI fest with no story or character.
My cinema is very limited now, I’ll go if it feels like there’s something unique from watching it on a big screen but that’s it - Mission Impossible with its ridiculous stunts, Dune with It’s grand landscape and scale, Godzilla Minus One with its well done destruction and a bit different from what I’d normally see.
Another superhero? Nah unless there’s something special about it.

There's only so much milk you can get from a cow before you need to give it a nice long rest... It's definitely starting to feel like the era of superhero films is coming to an end.
+1 for them being bottom of the list of things I'd want to see in the cinema now.
